Tonight's game is being carried on NBA-TV, so none of the frantic searching of channels from the various providers to try and catch a glimpse. :)

GO KINGS!!!

Just for fun, let's see if we can predict the starting lineup. I'm going with:

Vasquez
Thornton
Salmons
Thompson
Cousin

That is NOT the lineup I'm hoping for, it's just the one I think we'll see as Malone continues to make his final decisions on his starting 5.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with this as the expected lineup. I really want McLemore to start though. Thornton has played like garbage and I am not a big fan of starting players purely based on reputation.

BEAT LA!!!! the other LA.... Hoping to see Cousins just own Griffin and Jordan! this is a legit match up for our franchise big man. Hopefully well see something like what hes done against them the last 2 times.

total domination !

Finally get to see a game without going to extreme measures, Clippers carry all pre season games down here.

lineup will be

Vasquez, Thornton, Salmons, Patterson, Cousins

I don't remember whether Malone said that Thornton would play tonight, or start tonight. I'm going with play tonight, and therefore I'm going with the lineup of:

Cousins
Patterson
Mbah a Moute
McLemore
Vasquez

McLemore is the only SG that hasn't started a game, so maybe its his turn. If Mbah a Moute is healthy enough, I can see him starting as well, especially since he would already be warmed up, giving him less chance of injury.

I can see MT starting tonight with GV, Salmons, PP and the big man. I'd like to see Luc play more. Heck, I'd like to see Ray get some run.

What I want -> Vasquez / MT / Mbah a Moute / Patterson / Cousins
What will Happen -> Vasquez / Salmons / Mbah a Moute / Thompson / Cousins
What would be nice to happen -> Vasquez / McLemore / LeBron / Alridge / Cousins

I thought it could be IT just based on match fitness, but it looks like GV is a lock. Aside from that, the lineup I expected on opening night

Do I win anything?

Outside of what sounded like an unfortunate man-crush in his last interview about PPat, I wonder what Malone's fascination with starting Patterson is. Patterson/Mbah = maybe you can get away with. Patterson/Salmons = incredibly weak and poor on the glass. last time out you can add in shot happy and confused about their place in the NBA universe.

be interesting to see what happens this timeout. Clips will have their main guys back. But then again DeMarcus, next to JT, dropped 31-11 on their backups a couple of weeks ago. And DeMarcus, next to JT, dropped 36-20 on these same starters at the close of last season. If we start off this game feeding the chuckers again rather than the big dog, I want somebody at the game to throw a shoe at Malone.

Vasquez fits best as a starter, but he is clearly not 100% yet and is rusty to boot. Does Malone go with IT and change it up once Vasquez is back to 100%?, or does he want stability straight away and define everyones role/rotation spot? I would go with starting Vasquez straight away, let him start and bring in IT earlier, and then gradually start extending Vasquez's minutes the better he looks/feels.

I don't see what JT starting has to do with either of those Demarcus starts. If anything, Ppat starting should give DeMarcus more room to do his thing in the paint

I still feel it should be Chuck/Cousins at the 4/5. Chuck's defense will help Cousins stay out of foul trouble and he is great at boxing out his man, Cousins will gobble up defensive rebounds, and Chuck is a very good rebounder as well for his size. That would probably mean starting IT though because Vasquez excels at the pick and roll, which Patterson and JT execute well.

What it has to do is that clearly DeMarcus has a history of having plenty of room to do his thing with JT standing alongside him. This whole noveau wannabe Orlando (who failed BTW) thing where you just absolutely need a three point shooting PF for "spacing" is fairly ridiculous given that aside from a couple of years of Robert Horry, essentially NONE of the great centers of the past ever needed that. You need a guy who can hit a midrange jumper, but JT can on that front (the biggest problem with Hayes as a pairing). And with his size JT makes it difficult for teams to gang up on DeMarcus inside.
