The SF Question

Which of these high-dollar SF options would you pursue with our cap space?

That's the biggest issue. Can't tank with a talent like Cuz in your team ready to break out into a top 3 center in the near future and is already sick of the losing culture around here. Well we can try, as it seems that's what our FO and ownership group wants, but that could really blow up in their faces. That'd be similar to attempting to tank with a young KG on your team before he's signed an extension. That's not playing with fire, that's playing with live grenades.

You find it odd we heard earlier this summer that Cuz was excited and PDA/Vivek were intent on giving Cuz an extension, and reports were they were sitting down with his agent, then all we've heard since is silence? I do. I'm beginning to think Cuz and his agent are seriously questioning this new regime and will not put pen to paper. If that's the case and we go right ahead and tank, I see little hope Cuz sticks around. He'd be a better man than I as I wouldn't stick around in his position. I'm not sure as a fan I'll even stick around for another rebuild. Just went through 7 years of this ****.

What kind of GM would come on board for a tank job? Not a good one. What kind of an ownership group and FO would think following the Maloof era and 7 years of being a lottery team that coming in, promising change, improvement and a shift in culture, then diving right into a tank job would make any sense and be the clear course of action to take? One that didn't do their homework and has little basketball acumen. You'd think they'd want to build off the momentum from taking over the team, not kill all momentum ASAP.

Great call. You really nailed this one

What's the point of this post? He could go back and quote you on Hayes, which you were spectacularly wrong about. Everyone gets stuff wrong from time to time, and he only mentioned it as a possibility. No need to be a douche, unless your post was meant tongue in cheek...

Of course it's in tongue and cheek. And making fun of the fact about how much people were overreacting so early into this FO regime.

You need an emoticon with a tongue in the cheek. Sounds gross but it would clear confusion. ;)

Sadly, your right! I've made many posts over all the time I've been on this forum that were intended to be humorous , or perhaps a little tweak, and forgot to put the smiley face after it, and ended up in a war of words. Much easier in person because of inflection in your voice, and the expression on your face.

Trey Burke just went down they need a PG and the Jazz got Jefferson( expiring)and Williams @SF

If I were Utah, I would be trying to find a veteran point guard who can actually start as Burke has been looking pretty bad early on. We can offer IT or Vasquez if the return were good enough, or Jimmer if they just want a warm body that is not John Lucas III for a few months.

I'm not too impressed with either small forward prospect. Jefferson would replace our over the hill, undersized, poor shooting, poor defending Salmons with an over the hill, poor shooting (of late), poor defending small forward.

Marvin Williams is younger and cheaper than Jefferson. He also shoots the ball worse and has never been a positive impact player at either end of the floor. He isn't going to change much for the Kings at small forward.

There are plenty of pieces Utah has that I could get interested in. I liked what I saw in Gobert in summer league. Brandon Rush has the right skillset for a 3 who can shoot, although injury leaves questions. I would trade anything on the roster except Cousins for Gordon Hayward.

Williams is due 7.5 mil this year, so if we were to offer either IT, or Jimmer, it wouldn't work under the cap. However, my target would be Gobert. IT for Gobert would work, but I'm not sure we would be getting back equal talent. Maybe, but unproven talent at the moment. I think Hayward is probably untouchable. Jefferson I don't want. Apparently Utah has made inquires about Marquis Teague. If their interested in him, then I suspect they'll be interested in IT, who far more proven.

I wonder if Prince could be up on the block maybe with Pondexter's great improvement and Mike Miller seemingly healthy they got enough players on the wings, Memphis could still use a back PG as well with Bayless more of a undersized two than a one

Maybe something like Prince + Ed Davis for Patterson, LMAM and Thomas? I don't know if Memphis would be willing to give up Davis but even at 33 I would not mind Prince plus Davis could be a great partner next to Cousins. Also they might want Salmons since his contract is expiring.

I really doubt that Davis is on the table. He's starting to emerge as very good defensive player, and I think they see him as the heir apparent at the PF spot. I have mixed emotions about Prince. I guess I'm just tired of bringing in players that are OK for a position, but they are what they are with no upside left. In other words, I'd love Davis, because he's young, and starting to blossom, and has a lot of upside left. Not so with Prince. He would be just another place holder until we find a legit replacement for the position.

On fansided the guy writing the article proposed thorntan and salmons( or thompson) for granger. I think Indy jumps on the trade they move lance back to starter and have a good 4 men big rotation. We would get out of marcus contract and give room for mclemore and if granger works out you resign him at 8mill if he doesn't you just got rid of 13mill ad we become players in free agancy.

I would love to have Granger, but if Thompson is included we literally would not have a back-up at the C position. To be honest, I don't think it would bother me very much because we would finally have a real starting SF and Marcus "I don't do team ball" Thornton would be gone. Perhaps a 3rd team would get involved in where we get a big man back?

What, you have no confidence in N'Diaye?

To be frank, I have no clue how he even ended up on the roster. His name just popped up one day and my first thought was "who?" I still don't know much about him :D. Regardless, if Thompson goes we need a backup C quite badly. I still hold out hope for Asik! If we were to somehow miraculously get both Granger and Asik, I think that would be a playoff worthy team in the next season.

I have enough confidence in Hayes to play 15min a game at center to finish the season

You must be an optimistic individual! I would prefer to have us not lose the rebounding battle by 15+ each night. I like Hayes, but the question that remains is would we be able to rebound effectively when Cousins is not on the floor? What about foul trouble on Cousins when have him for only 25 minutes? What then? Hayes and Patterson?

the trouble with Granger is that the Pacers have already shut him down for the preseason. probably just a precautionary measure, but it still doesn't bode well for him. he's likely done playing at an allstar level.

Hawks cut James Johnson maybe........o wait never again

Balkman and Ebanks got cut to I got a little interest in Ebanks

Denver is stacked with SF: Hamilton, Quincy Miller, Chandler and Gallo maybe if they are fully healthy we could try nab Ill Will.

Here are a couple of tidbits I have gleaned about N'Diaye.

He was in camp with the Kings last year and Abdur Rahim played a role in bringing him back this year.

I think I read he was introduced to basketball through the NBA's "Basketball Without Borders" program.

He played his college ball at Rutgers.

Here is his Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamady_N'Diaye

Draftexpress calls him a shot blocking specialist: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Hamady-N-Diaye-1219/

And in regards to this thread he is not a SF:)

I believe he was named his conference defensive player of the year while at Rutgers. A tough conference by the way that includes Louisville and Miami among'st others. He played overseas and in the D-League. He's always been a good defensive player that got lost on the offensive side of the ball. Like any player that puts in the work, he's gotten better. He's no dummy, he knows where his bread is buttered. Who knows, he could end up being a decent role player this year that can come in and play defense when you need a stop. Or not! Sometimes a player just needs that one break. Not sure he's any better than Aldrich. He's a little taller and longer perhaps. I'll say this, I'd rather have N'Diaye than Fab Melo.

Voison has a column on N'Daye in today's Bee. Interesting person. I'd like to see him a little more but it seems an uphill battle for him to make the opening day roster.

Memphis really look like they could use a scorer (Thornton) they have struggled to have a out and out scorer outside Z-Bo since Rudy left them, in a ideal world if we could somehow get Pondexter imo that would be brilliant he gives us Outlaws athletic ability with very good three point shooting. Maybe if they struggle this year they move Z-Bo which could open up other deals, unlike the GSW/Clippers/Houston/OKC they have not really got any better since last season.

A would you guys feel about Gay if he came cheap Thorntan and Salmons. We would loose dead weight and thorntan a contract. With Gay having 1yr after this we would get to resign him on a better contract if he works out(11-13mill). Also if he worked out he would be a perfect SF for defense and a #2 score

I love the fact that I called him batspit (With the letter H instead of P) and it autocorrected to poopoo. That is amazing.

Royce White just got waived... There's a thought.

Putting the fact that he's batpoopoo insane aside, of course.

the guy couldn't make it in Philly. to emphasise: IN PHILLY! I'm personally getting more in shape, just because I think I've got a decent shot of making that roster. what would the Kings want with one of their outcasts?
