The SF Question

Which of these high-dollar SF options would you pursue with our cap space?

I know a lot of people don't like Rudy Gay, especially is contract, but I keep thinking that if Memphis hadn't traded him, they could have been in the championship. The year they made the trade of Gay, their team just struggled offensively afterwards. I think if you pair him with Cuz and he's the number 2 option where you can control the number of shots he takes, he could fit.

actually incorrect, at least as far as the regular season is concerned. they performed better on the offensive end than they did before the trade, because they redistributed possessions he used chucking up inefficient jumpers to guys like Gasol and Conley, who are much better/smarter offensive players.

I'm sure that Charlotte will be all over that... The GOAT has done horribly in the draft, but he hasn't done that bad in trades/free agency. I don't see him biting on that deal.

I wouldn't say he's done TERRIBLE...MKG and Biyombo both produced as starters and both have great potential. Plus, he picked Jeff Taylor.

This team is in a worse state than any Kings fan wants to admit. We have no trade assets, 2 projected starters out with injury, one rookie with other-worldly potential who just hasn't gotten it yet, and 5 players on the roster playing major minutes who wouldn't even survive training camp with any other team.

He's done better, I'll grant you that, but his track record is less than great:

  • 2005 - Sean May (13th)
    • Ahead of: Danny Granger (17th), Nate Robinson (21st), Jarrett Jack (22nd), Francisco Garcia (23rd), David Lee (30th)
  • 2006 - Adam Morrison (3rd)
    • Ahead of: Brandon Roy (6th), Randy Foye (7th), Rudy Gaye (8th). J.J. Redick (11th)... and that's just counting the lottery picks!
  • 2007 - I'll give him a mulligan on Brandon Wright, since he was traded on draft day for Jason Richardson, who averaged 21/5/3 as a Bobcat.
  • 2008 - D.J. Augustin (9th)
    • Ahead of: Brook Lopez (10th - !!!), Jerryd Bayless (11th), Jason Thompson (12th)... and, again, that's just counting the lottery picks; the back half of that draft was loaded!

Gerald Henderson was his first decent draft pick since Raymond Felton. And, even then, he passed up Jrue Holiday, Ty Lawson and Jeff Teague to get him. He's since gotten better, but still not very good.

Au contraire. I think most of us are well aware of just how bad the situation is/has been. But it is Nov. 2. I don't think we need to be lining up to jump off the cliff quite yet. I cannot speak for anyone else, but I didn't have any lofty expectations for this year, other than to see what Malone could do in regards to instilling a positive attitude in the team. Merely getting an extension for DMC and seeing him progress is more than enough for me right now. The rest will come.

Cuz
JT
Landry
Pat
GV
IT
MT
Ben
Hayes
Luc
Jimmer

All players NBA gm's take ahead of Salmons and Outlaw. You can make a case for the unproven Ray as well.

So the team is effectively playing it's 12th and 13th best players significant minutes.

Yeah its bad. Petey D please work some magic.... WE NEED A SF NAO

the problem is, there's too many guards on the roster, thornton, fredette, vasquez, thomas, mclemore, mccollum, the team is not balanced.

Derrick Williams looked good guarding Kevin Durrant and doing a good job at it the other game if we could somehow snare him he's worth the risk 100% and he gives us a bit of shooting and some leaping ability.

Evan Turner is on the trading block, and Phila might be interest in dumping salary. Patterson - Salmons - Jimmer might do it? I'd pack anybody not named Cousins, Vasquez and Thomas for him.

Patterson/Jimmer works salary wise, 76ers save a mil this year and 7 next year.
But I would be insulted by that offer if I weren't a Kings fan.

J-Rich is their only other player to dump, and he's injured. If you're willing to eat his salary, him for Salmons or Hayes works too. I'd even consider moving MT for J-Rich to have a chance at Turner.

Turner/Richardson for Patterson/MT

GV/IT/Ray
Ben/Salmons/Jimmer
Turner/Luc/J-Rich (buyout?)
Hayes/Landry/Outlaw
Cuz/JT/N'd

Sets up the team to add a shotblocker next to Cuz.

I'm not sure what you were expecting when our front office came right out and immediately stated that this year would not be evaluated on number of wins. We have about as positive of an owner and management as we could ever hope for, so for them to come out and say this?

They didn't just make it up out of thin air one day. They were basically saying, brace yourselves with patience...settle in with full support for the things that matter the most long term. The words have been "culture, attitude, defense".

Mentioning anything about this years 8th seed has never even been whispered about by anyone on the inside

Turner for Salmons/Thornton, need to dump at least one of them

One guy who could be a sleeper is jeff green. The celtics are gonna get a top 5 pick and are in serious tank mode if we get a pick 7-9 I think they might go for that in reverse of what they did with the ray allen trade.

Apparently Kendrick Perkins is not to happy in OKC he has two years left on his contract (gets about 9 mil next season), maybe throw at them a Chuck Hayes/Thornton deal for Thabo (can slide to SF) and Perk (Thabo is out of contact next season) meaning we clear some cap space since both Chuck and Marcus are on two year deals but we probably get one of the worst C's in the NBA on a terrible contract for next year.
I honestly can't see them getting a better deal than that for Perkins contract and it does not seem like the Thunder are going to amnesty him. We get a back up C and a guy capable of being a elite defender at two positions and can space the floor.

I thought Perkins was a good defensive center?

saw perkin's stats from their game with phoenix, had 3 pts, 1 reb., 1 stl, 0 block, 1 block against him in 16 min. of play.

He has been really bad for a while now. He has always been a negative guy on offense, but his lack of rebounding and defensive presence of late have been disappointing.

Scuttlebutt is that he's also a bit of a tool in the locker room. Culture change wouldn't be helped by bringing him in.

I really doubt that OKC would give up Sefalosha as they really lack depth at the three (Gomes is injured and PJ3 is too raw to log serious minutes.) Steven Adams hasn't looked great early this season, but he should overtake Perkins by the end of the year.
