The SF Question

Which of these high-dollar SF options would you pursue with our cap space?

Why should Indiana trade for Thornton? Stephenson is the superior player in every aspect of the game and hell even freaking Orlando Johnson plays with effort and is reliable on defense. The Pacers dont need Marcus Thornton and won't trade a potential 20 Pts. Scorer, who fits well in their defensive scheme for an undersized, selfish SG, who played decently 3 years ago. Paul George is able to defend most SG's, so why shouldnt the Pacers play Granger alongside George? If they are really looking for a trade, they are waiting for a good offer, which improves their chances on the trophy. Marcus Thornton won't do that, in my opinion.

I'm a big a JT fan, but when I look at our roster and who might have some nice value for some teams, I see JT. I think there's plenty of teams who could plug him right into their rotation and feel like they've improved, without disrupting anything that they currently have going on

MT, Salmons and PPat traded to Raptors as "movable pieces" in exchange for Rudy Gay. Toronto moves out the huge salary and gets veteran players for the same contract length except PPat who ends one year sooner with his 3+ mil deal. For the Kings yes Gay is overpaid but he fills a position of need providing a starter at SF.

They'll get much better offers than anything we can put up. Rumors keep floating around that the Lakers are interested. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see that happen.

You are probably correct. I should add though that the deal I detailed there is an excess of 10 million expiring after this year due to PPat expiring and Salmons deal is only 1 mil next year. Gay has Toronto on the hook for 19+ mil next year on a player option. I suspect Rudy will pick that option up.

The Knicks could or should e in the market for a big man with Chandler being out. I'd love to move Hayes but his salary won't match up with who I would want which is Hardaway Jr. The coaching staff raved about him during pre-draft tryouts. I'd go as far as considering moving JT for Hardaway and Aldrich as the basis for a trade. It would probably take JT as they already have non- rebounders in Bargnani and Amare so PPat wouldn't make sense.

Man Philly is basically begging people to take Turner off their hands... make it happen Pete! While you're at it, trade for Asik as well (maybe get a 3 or 4 team trade going if you want to do it in style!)... In all seriousness, those would be wonderful trades.

How exactly do you expect PDA to make those wonderful trades? Our tradeable pieces are crap.

I know I said Marvin Williams could be a option but after seeing this I might have to pass on that offer

It was more like a wish rather than a realistic goal or option. Maybe one of the two trades would be possible but it's a stretch no matter which way you look at it!

Is there a Cavalier that the Kings need?

As for that...that gets tough unless its a big deal. They've long had the same SF weakness we do. They're probably rebuilding like we are and so uninterested in moving Kyrie (duh), Waiters (don't want anyway), Thompson (could make a good fit next to Cuz), or Bennet (although he's on all time disaster watch right now).

So that leaves Varejao, who we've mentioned in the past as a partner for Cuz, but is now an injury prone 31 yr old. I'm not sure if the Cavs could afford to trade him though unless they know/expect Bynum is ready and is going to stay ready. Also not sure what we could send them really. Also a darkhorse possibility: Jarret Jack, if Malone was significantly displeased with our PGs and wanted to go back to the guy he knew from last year in Golden State.

I'm resurrecting this thread just to say congrats to Heuge, sacgirl88, TyFreak Evans, and some exclamation point guy for being the only posters to select both Williams and Gay in the poll! :)
