The SF Question

Which of these high-dollar SF options would you pursue with our cap space?

Cousins/PPat/MaM/McLemore/Vasquez starting lineup.

I see lineups like that and I wonder what the hell happened to our talent. I need an aspirin and a time machine to go back 2 1/2 years when we were all set up to be one of the most talented up and coming teams in the league. Now everyone has passed us.

Now that the Warriors are busy paying Iggy 12 million per year, is there any chance we could go after Harrison Barnes? I assume the chances are slim, and I am not quite sure who they would want from us, but if we can get him we would be pretty set at SF for years to come.

But we have "moveable pieces"

I think PDA and Vivek are done with the talks about our SF position. I think for them, Mah Bouteh, Outlaw, and Salmons are good enough for now.

I just hope they are not done with looking for that shot blocker center that Cousins wants to be paired with him.

Why do I feel like I'm going to hear Christopher Lloyd's character from Buckaroo Banzai pop up any second now?

Rumor on hoopshype/twitter has granger going to the suns for scola. Should be more pieces involved but if this is all it took, I wonder if we could do better. Also makes even more upset that we could have gotten him last year off waivers. I know some didnt think he was a good fit but at least he would have been a good trading chip.

Only trading chips are Thompson/Thornton and Indy doesn't want any long term salary. Both those guys make more than Scola.

It would be nice, but with Landry's departure and Barnes' success in the playoffs at the 4 spot, I see them bringing him off the bench as a 3/4 who can come in for both Iggy and Lee depending on the lineup.

That's a good thought - you look at the story about Vivek and PDA consulting Cuz about roster moves and then the interview where he said he sees himself as a 4 who needs a shotblocker next to him, you have to connect the dots. He even prefaced that statement with "I love playing with JT, but...."

I would love to see if we can make Asik happen. Or at least make the attempt.

I think we could be in a good spot to land asik when he becomes available. Thorntan, PP, and IT or PP, thompson, and IT work with cap and are good offer for role player

Now look at the teams that would possibly want asik and their assists

Portland: Matthews, Lopez
Dallas: Marion
NO: Anderson
Boston: lee, bass
Other teams interested wouldn't have good assists lakers, okc, nets, wizards

The only offer that would beat us are NO (have already declined giving up Anderson and are really high on him) and Portland (would they give up a starter in Mathews)

I almost hesitate to mention this because its precisely one of those sorts of mentions in a list of teams that you suspect is an agent trying to create a market, but according to this we might still be after wings/Josh Childress??

PDA has come out to the media and said he is all about due diligence and following every possible road in helping make this team better. It strikes me we are going to be in the "mix" for players a lot because of how active PDA is. Even if there is a small interest PDA has probably placed some type of feeler which an agent can use as our unabated interest.

I like Bass. He's a good defender and rebounder, who hustles, and can space the floor from mid-range. A little undersized, but not drastically so.

I read on twitter that were one of three teams interested in Childress. Childress has had a very up and down career since leaving Stanford. If he could regain the form he had early in his career at Atlanta, he could certainly help a the SF position. Big if! Ever since he returned from his stint in europe, he hasn't been the same player. He's never been a three point shooter, averaging less than one attempt a game for his career. Early in his career,he was pretty good defender and rebounder for a SF. If you can aquire him for the league minimum, then I guess he's worth the gamble.

I would imagine that the Kings might look attractive to him since SF is a position of need.

Can Corey Maggette still play? I'm pretty sure he's a free agent and I'd assume even at his worst he's better than Outlaw and Salmons. Since no other moves are even looking like they will be made and nothing else really being out there should we take a punt on Maggette?

Gerald Greene anyone? Hes 6'8 and a decent 3pt shooter, not to mention he's still a freak athlete. Imagine a fast break that has McLemore and Greene coming down each side of the court. Yikes!

Imagine an actual proven, starting caliber SF.

Seriously, look at the names at the top of this page. Look at the SF's we were considering when the summer began. Now we're talking about Gerald Greene.

I think we should brace ourselves and expect these kind of talks and deals for another 3-5 years. It seems like it's just the ownership that really changed, but the direction the team is going and style remains the same.

We have a not-so-rich owner in Vivek, a GM who seems like lacking in basketball wisdom, and an unexperienced coach. Let us pray we get Wiggins and hope Cousins decides to mature to at least make the next few years interesting enough until such time we get a new owner, GM, and a good coach.

Onward for the Wiggins' sweepstake!

Go Cousins!

But but ... patience! FO not done! More trades and moves coming!

So you are already wanting a new owner, coach and GM in the span of a few months, and this group hasn't even put the product on the floor for any games, let alone a full season......SMH.
