Why would they only trade down 1 spot to get him?
So we are to believe that the Thunder think that Curry is better than Harden? Please. It's very interesting that Curry's stock is supposedly going up during this camp. I'm sure he wows everybody with his shooting when he has nobody defending him.![]()
So Rubio is only good for a team that already has a Spaniard on the team? Then why do the Kings want him?
No.
He's an ideal fit because they desperately need a PG and he's the best fit. It works for OKC because they need a SG who can shoot and handle the ball, and Bayless would be a real nice fit as a 3rd guard for them cuz Westbrook can guard two's. Either way as current and future rivals I don't see these teams helping each other out, but its a trade that makes sense.
I don't watch Portland and think "this team desperately needs a PG". Brandon Roy is terrific at setting up his teammates. Rubio can't set up anyone if he doesn't have the ball in his hands and Roy is going to have the ball at least 50% of the time. I suppose losing your sixth man to get a potential starter at PG is an acceptable sacrifice, but I still think Bayless can give them what they need at PG. Their biggest hole last year was at SF. If they can get a decent 3 point shooter at SF to space the floor then defenses can't collapse on Roy in the paint like they do now.
Portland already has Steve Blake and Sergio Rodriguez at PG. They drafted Bayless last year, and Rudy Fernandez can even play a little point. Why would they go after Rubio?
Memphis is pretty commited to Mike Conley Jr. as their PG of the future...so they'd have to trade him in order to draft Rubio, because neither one of them wants to ride the bench for one another...nor should they.i agree that it would be great if we could get him with the 4th. but i thought he'd be comfortable playing in memphis since marc gasol is there.
That's basically the point I was making. PG isn't really a position of need for them. I can understand if maybe they wanted to keep the Spaniards together (which was what I first posted) but other than that, it doesn't make sense to me either.
Is it just me or do Spanish players hate memphis. First Pau wants to leave, then Juan Carlos Navarro leaves, now Rubio won't even go there.
(link)The Blazers are "nosing around" to see if they can trade up from their 24th pick and choose Davidson's Stephen Curry. Curry is a point guard whose main weapon is his jumper. Therefore the thinking is that he would be a good fit next to a ball-handling wing such as Brandon Roy.
Or maybe Marc Gasol isn't all that happy there either.I think there is definitely something there, but the odd thing is that they still have Pau's brohter already there. Seems like it would be a built in comfort zone for Rubio, but who knows, maybe the two do not get along.

One of the more interesting tidbits of information coming out of the pre-draft workouts the last two days in Oakland is word that the agent for Spanish point guard Ricky Rubio is suddenly amenable to participating in interviews and individuals workouts with a select number of teams - the Memphis Grizzlies, Oklahoma City Thunder and Kings. Sources told me that, at this point, Rubio's agent, Dan Fegan, is limiting the visits to the teams with draft picks 2-4. Given the fact that Jrue Holiday and Jonny Flynn are moving up on most mock draft boards, this makes sense. Plus, Rubio didn't play particularly well in his season finale. Holiday is expected to return to Sacramento for a second workout, Tyreke Evans is scheduled to work out here next week, and Flynn shortly thereafter. Since the Kings have been unusually accommodating to the media this year - in the past, the team refused to reveal which prospects were working out, and allowed no media access to the workouts - this should be a very interesting few weeks.
Maybe because Rubio never said anything about not wanting to play for Memphis or OKC. Thats more rumour from sources close to his agent.if he doesnt want to be draftd by okc and memphis.. i dont understand why he wold work out with those two teams too?
To work with draft and trade scenarios. And to set his value within that realm.if he doesnt want to be draftd by okc and memphis.. i dont understand why he wold work out with those two teams too?
It will be very interesting to hear about Rubios workouts. Will he shoot well enough and come across athletic enough to warrant his draft position?
In this draft, he most likely will. While I love him as a player, he does have weaknesses. If he's not there at 4, I wouldn't break the bank to trade up.
so our chances of picking him? higher or getting lower?
In the meantime, Rubio plans to arrive with his family in the United States on June 13. Rubio has yet to schedule visits with any team, according to the source.
Rubio has already informed teams that he won't do workouts, but he might visit them to meet the front office and owners. The source said if visits happen, they will be to Los Angeles, Oklahoma City and Sacramento -- owners of the first, third and fourth picks in the draft.
The source said it's likely that Rubio and his camp will skip visits to Memphis. The Grizzlies hold the No. 2 pick, but the source said Rubio is leery about playing in Memphis after two other Spanish players -- Pau Gasol and Juan Carlos Navarro -- had bad experiences there.
The only problem with that line of thinking is that Petrie is on the record as saying that he will never again pick a player that he doesn't work out. He said it last year and we all know once Petrie makes up his mind about something, there is no changing it.actually it could work to our advantage..
1. GP has scouted him days before the lottery hence he already knows what the kid is capable of
2. other teams like okc and mem have not even given him the second thought.. not AFTER the lottery... i heard memphis gm went to spain after a few days after the lottery
3. him not working out would not expose his weakness to GP... his weakness that his jumpshot needs work and we all know GP LOVES shooters
4. him not working out for other teams.. means he will not show case his talents for them to get wowed
i hope he doesnt work out for okc and mem
and heres to him being shown the royal treatment by the maloofs... hey joe and gavin give his mom a tour of the casino... let her play one game
and let her "win" enough money for the buy out.. its going to go... like..
i could imagine it could go...
Rubios Mom: Hijo! i acaba de ganar 7 millones de dólares en el casino tragamonedas!
Ricky:
esa es realmente genial! im va a Sacramento!![]()

So unless you hear about Rubio working out for the Kings, there is no way in hell Petrie picks him, even if he is there at pick 4.
