Lowry is an expiring already and is just good enough to get us more wins that we don't want this year. Assuming we don't end up drafting Smart or Exum, he is target #1 in the offseason for me.
Amir Johnson has been going downhill rapidly since he entered the league. His block rate, rebound rate, and points per 36 have all declined steadily since his third year. I haven't seen enough of him to know whether he is any better than Jason Thompson at this point, but the statistics say no.

Except that the East all have to play eastern conference teams 52 times each, meaning that somebody is going to have to win those games between boston, orlando, detroit, New York, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Milwaukee and etc. The Kings get to lose all they want to the 12 Western Conference teams trying for the playoffs. well, the good news is that eastern conference teams have to play each other four times per season. somebody has to win those games, and several of the league's worst will avoid the lottery altogether in spite of their desire to tank. again, somebody has to take those playoff spots. inevitably, it will be quite the scrum for lottery positioning among the bottom-7 out east, but the kings are also gonna be too busy getting pummeled by the many heavy-weights out west to notice...
for all the bluster about how terrible the eastern conference is, the kings still have the fourth-worst record in the nba, at the moment. it's not as if they've been a strong road team in recent memory, either, and i wouldn't expect that to change just because the eastern conference sucks more than usual. the kings likely won't become world-beaters out east when they eventually begin the more travel-heavy portions of their schedule. they'll hang tight in some games, win a few they were expected to lose, and lose plenty that they probably should be able to win. losing teams with an utter lack of talent are like that...

If we can somehow retain Cousins, IT, Ben, & the 1st rounder in any trade, it will be a win.

it's an interesting question, because asik very much represents the defensive/rebounding presence in the middle that many of us have been clamoring for. however, there are legitimate questions about how effective cousins/asik would be as a frontcourt pairing, and if malone were to decide to bench asik in favor of a "stretch 4" in williams or patterson, how would asik respond? would he throw a massive hissy fit, as he did in houston from the moment the rockets acquired dwight howard? he doesn't seem to deal well with being told his place in the pecking order. that said, i'd be more than willing to part with any combination of kings outside of cousins/mclemore/2014 first rounder, because asik represents a very valuable asset, and would instantly become the team's greatest trade chip upon acquisition (outside of the aforementioned cousins/mclemore/2014 first rounder)...

I would assume that Patterson has to be part of any deal with Houston for Asik. You can bundle up Patterson and JT for Asik and call it a day, relying on Chuck Hayes as third big for the time being with Derrick Williams sliding over to the 4 when necessarry.
Whether we can match other teams is the question. Asik for Milsap could realistically happen and result in both teams becoming better.

I don't think we have a high level pf unless you want to trade cousins.
What Houston wants and what they will probably get are two different things.
Hou will soon realize they have absolutely 0 leverage. Asik is a 1 and 1/2 season rental and while his cap hit is $8.3 mil next season, he costs an owner $15mil in actual money. While Asik is very good, I just don't see who gives up the farm for such a limited offensive player.

BTW, I don't think Hou will get the offers they want or expect. When Asik has publicly demanded a trade more than once and the whole league knows they're shopping him, partly by force, the offers almost always in a situation like this are lower. The league knows Hou pretty much has to trade him or he'll become a distraction, if he already isn't and will be one unhappy camper in the locker room.

If we consider Cousins, Ben and our picks as untouchable, our most attractive piece is IT. Houston has depth at that position.

Might have to get a 3rd team involved to get a team interested in IT, since Hou has depth as you said.

If your of the belief that Greivis isn't a good enough all around player to be a part of the future his only purpose becomes helping us gain needless wins with his experience and not letting us see what Ray Mac can do. That is if you don't believe he will be re-signed

Its rumored that the Miami Heat are looking to trade for a SG because of having to play Wade limited minutes. Sounds like a perfect fit for Thornton, except, I'm not sure what they have to trade that we'd want, and would fit salary wise. I suppose some combination of Chalmers and Battier or Anthony would work. But then what would they do to replace Chalmers. The Heat do have two first round picks in the upcoming draft, so getting one of them might also be a possibility.

I would love Chalmers as the starting PG if we move Vasquez and him and Isaiah are actually capable of playing together as well. Good shooter and above average defender and does not need the ball to score but is more than capable enough with it perfect fit if we building around Godsins.

They gave 3 number 1 picks for LBJ so they either traded it or can't trade it.
Do you guys think Thornton has made himself nearly untradeable? He really doesn't bring anything to the game at this point. Honestly his defense has been the best part of his game this year. That is how far his offense has fallen. Why would a team want to trade anything for a shooter who can't shoot and doesn't really bring much of anything else to the table? Unless a team is banking on him returning to his former self, I don't see him having any trade value at this point.
