Kings active in trade talks?

Here's a larger quote from Voisin's article today:

“We’re not kidding anybody,” D’Alessandro said bluntly before Monday’s tipoff against the Dallas Mavericks. “We’re a long way from being a completed product. We have five wins. We need players here.”

Gotta love it. Shows management doesn't see things as anywhere close to being done.
They're not playing it 'by the book' either. Creative out of the box thinking and this whole thing can quickly turn into a giant snow ball effect

So far so good ! Kings needed to get more athletic and talented and they have done just that. In the process they have gotten younger. The players that were traded away were either unwanted or not part of the plan. I think the Kings as currently constructed with Gay and Williams is going to be a more dynamic and athletic team that will be more fun to watch. Whether or not that constitutes more wins remains to be seen, but the NBA is an athletic league. The better athletes routinely win. If Malone can get this group to play any semblance of team defense, they will win more games than they did last year. And isnt that the goal anyway? Get better every year? I have lost faith in the Lottery. It seems pretty rigged from my point of view. Independent observers be damned ! It sure seems fixed to me. I think the Lottery is fools gold. So building a team in Sacramento means wheeling and dealing. That is how we got Webber and Vlade. How we got Bibby. It is how they will create a winning team this time as well.

Some people seem to forget that we can't play 5 players the entire game. I presume Malone will leave a starter on the court at all times but there will be quite a few minutes where we have no NBA quality PG on the court. At present there is no getting around that. I am not knocking the trade as it is part of the new Kings but it has left a huge hole. We will be playing 4 on 5 for awhile. I see a small trade to get a low cost pg with the hopes McCallum can gain enough experience to be an emergency pg in case of injury. I think the rim protector will come in the draft and if we miss that opportunity, it will be a crime no matter what the nay sayers and conspiracy theorists say. We need a tall person as the entire NBA will not be blown away by a team that has only one guy of note over 6'8" assuming JT is traded. I am discounting Gray as a meaningful NBA player as he has proven nothing in the past.

If there is a conspiracy, it will be to help the Kings anyway.

Denver is shopping veteran Andre Miller. Yes, he's 37 but says wants to play until 40 as still solid, productive PG. Has only missed 3 games in long NBA career and maybe Nuggets would take something we can offer... Thornton, Jimmer, etc. Signed for next two seasons at $5 mil and then $4.6 mil (but last year only $2 mil guaranteed). Kings most thin position is PG, obviously. PDA needs to go get Andre Miller or Beno Udrih or someone similar while the rook RayMac learns NBA ropes.

Sunday is Dec 15 when 135 players become eligible....the 2013 FAs who signed. Expect movement. Rockets want to move Asik between Dec 15 and 19. I don't expect us to get him nor am I sure the ownership group sees him as A fit.

Was thinking about a Thornton for Miller swap the other day. Nuggets would have to add slightly more salary to make it work, but I could see them possibly being interested. Might think they can get more for Miller, though.

If they just want to cut salary, a swap for Jimmer and N'Diyae works. The Kings get a veteran leader who fits and can still play.
But I have a hard time believing the Nuggets want to move Miller.

Lakers just lost another point guard for a few months. I wonder if you could convince them to take Jimmer. He could work well in the Dantoni system, and Kobe is the type of ball-dominant wing player you want to play him with.

Of course, we're not exactly deep at the guard position any more.

Edit: looked at this further. Jimmer for Kaman is the only trade that would work at all for salary purposes, and I see no point in having Kaman on the team.

No, he wouldn't. You think he looks lost now? Put him in La-La Land and you might as well send him to Mars.

I would love Miller on the Kings(long time dream), but no way they swap him for Thornton when they already have Randy Foye and Evan Fournier @SG on lesser deals and playing much better. Miller defense at his point leaves a lot to be desired but he would be a better version of Vasquez and he's very capable of being a scoring playmaking 6th man even @37.

For a backup pg, how about Brandon Knight? He fits in with the "go young" and "go for different scenery" rationale that brought in Williams. He is talented, certainly more than Jimmer or McCollum. Should be able to at least bring the ball up the floor and set up the offense better than anyone we have except for IT. He's also not good enough right now to be out of reach with the ammo the Kings currently have on their roster.

He'd be great - but how to acquire? Can't really see anybody on the roster that Detroit would take that Pete'D would be willing to give up.
In Milwaulkee this year in the Jennings deal.

I have an interest in their scrawny frontcourt shotblockers, so who knows, maybe a larger deal.

I don't think they would be willing to part with Henson, but I would have to think Sanders is fair game if the price is right. They seem to be in a rebuilding phase, so we don't have much we can offer them. Would have to add in a team like Rockets who can flip to the Asik Bucks while we include Thompson to the Rockets who also get Brandon Knight.

If we end up outside the top 5 lets even say 6th we should trade that pick for Sanders. Bucks will be in the top 3 picks and I'm sure they would trade him I could see them going with Embiid over wiggins if there rookie SF keeps improving

I wonder if we have anything that might interest the Bobcats for Josh McRoberts, he brings 3 different elements to a game which suit Cousins and would suit Rudy. His athletic ability means he's a live body and can block/contest the odd shot he provides shooting and the most intriguing thing about him he has excellent feel/playmakng ability. In the playmaking/shooting ability he's like a really poor mans Marc Gasol and we lack playmaking in general, having McRoberts could easy the pressure on IT to have to be more of a passer also.

He might bring three different "elements," but one of them isn't shot blocking, which is what we really need alongside Cousins.
The passing ability with Cousins/IT/Gay would be awfully nice but, I'd much rather McRoberts than say Asik. The other thing unlike other stretch 4's McRoberts has excellent height/length on him.

As of right now of things possible. I'm going with jarrett jack. Thornton for jack. We take a 4 year contract giving them a 2 year contract. Jack can play point and spell Ben at the 2. He plays the same way in Cleveland now. And he is one of the top 10 defensive pg's in the league.

Why in the world would you trade a 6-12 pick for Sanders when you could get Embiid/Cauley-Stein/Vonleh on a 4 year rookie contract?
If we end up with the 6th pick the very best thing we could do would be to draft one of those 3 players and then trade all of our other spare assets to pick up a starting PG and our starting line-up would be set.

Another soft non defending big man?

I'd take sanders over WCS and Vonleh, Embiid will be a top 3 pick

As much as I have tagged that as one of the possibilities, there still needs to be some convincing on why the Cavs do it. Sugegstions they might move Waiters to Philly for Turner could open the door for a followup getting Thornton, but they'd be bereft again of legit backup help behind Uncle Glass.

Sammy D seems to have fallen out of favour in Dallas and that was before Wright returned and going off for 19points recently, I don't know maybe with new management maybe his stint here could go better, he's on a two year deal maybe we trade one of our 1 year deals for him maybe even try get Devin Harris when he comes back from injury as well in the deal. I know quiet a few Kings fans don't like Devin but before the injuries he could D and was a very solid NBA PG.
