I'm not saying that I don't think I'll find it funny; I'm pretty sure I've seen clips of it, and I laughed at it (that's the movie with the flair, right?). I just can't be arsed to find it and watch the whole thing. I'm that way with a lot of movies, and I'm not just talking indie faves and cult classics, I'm talking major motion pictures, too: I've never sat all the way through The Godfather, I've never sat through POtC, I've never seen any of the LOtR movies, I've never seen It's a Wonderful Life, I've never seen Fight Club, I've never seen Caddyshack... and there's a lot of other movies like that.

you probably share that in common with a lot of people. i just looked over the draft board and only one person other than myself has all movies that i've seen. But I can get not wanting to go out and grab every movie someone suggests. Although, if you can't laugh at Office Space, somethings gotta be wired a little wrong :P ....or maybe right. I dunno which it is.

Oh and btw, it was Warhawk.

Ditto that, except mine is LoungeLizard. And I have added several movies to my Blockbuster queue because of this game.

I think (to the best of my recollection) I have not seen:

2.16 - The Departed - 2006
3.01 - Boyz 'N the Hood - 1991
3.02 - Swingers - 1996
2.14 - Lawrence of Arabia - 1962
3.04 - American History X - 1998
2.11 - It's A Wonderful Life - 1946
1.07 - 12 Angry Men - 1957
3.07 - All The President’s Men - 1976
1.08 - Last of the Mohicans - 1992
1.09 - Apocalypse Now - 1979
1.10 - Glengarry Glen Ross - 1992
2.05 - Goodfellas - 1990
2.04 - Fight Club - 1999
3.13 - Out of Sight - 1998
4.04 - Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels - 1998
4.03 - A Time to Kill - 1996
3.15 - Chasing Amy - 1997
4.02 - Clerks - 1994
4.01 - Snatch - 2000

Slim - I won't go to a video store to find a movie anymore, but I do like the Netflix/BB mail service and that makes it easy to catch up on movies I have missed over the years. If you don't use that already, you may want to try it if you are interested in watching more movies.

I'd love to say that I'll get on that but, in truth, I probably won't. I get that a lot of people find it funny, but there's at least a dozen really popular movies that a lot of people have seen that I haven't; actually, that applies to all the other genres as well. I don't even know why I volunteered to participate in this, as the truth is that I really don't watch a whole lot of movies. And most of the movies I watch are all of one type, as you will see starting in the fifth round.

In fact, having just re-checked the draft board, even though we're only very early into the fourth round, there's only one person participating in this thing has a list where I've actually seen all the movies, and that's me; everybody else has at least one movie that I've never seen, and most have two... So I really don't know what possessed me to get involved. :o

If you want out, I'd be more than happy to take your place Slim. I've seen every movie so far, except for Glengary Glen Ross. My list of 25 is still intact too...

I think there is only one other drafted list where I've seen all the movies besides my own, a few of them we're I've seen parts or all of most of the movies and one or two where I've seen none of them.

I think part of the fun of this game, well for me at least, is seeing the range of films here because you're picking for an entirely different purpose - movies you would have to live with for the rest of your life - which lends a more personal nature to the picks people make. I think VF21 said it (if not apologies to who I'm misquoting) it's interesting reading the reasons people are chosing the films they chose.

It's been a much different experience from the music thread which has been equally fun but personal trends haven't for the most part emerged here yet as quickly as they seemed to in the music thread. I'm having a much more difficult time keeping my list intact here and having a much more difficult time making a draft decision to boot. That difficulty makes it much more fun. Now when the beauty contest starts amongst the list it might not be as much fun, but right now it's great.

Batman Begins (2005) -- When you are widely acclaimed as perhaps the best superhero based movie ever made, and when you are in a draft with many people very alive to and drafting with an eye toward the pop culture and the cool, its a minor miracle you survive to this point in the draft. I generally have nothing but despite for the "kewl!" of 90% of the comic adaptations that have plagued the theaters in recent decades as original screeplays, and thought, have disappeared from Hollywood. But this one was dark and brilliant, and precisely by dodging the comicness of it all, bringing it home as something almost possible (almost) and real that it got its power. No cheese here, and has any action based flick ever had an acting lineup like this one? This is/was my statement pick after I scrambled on over to nab Holy Grail last time around. But now with three of the greatest action hybrid movies of the last 20 years (or ever) keying things, one period piece, one sci-fi, and now one dark comic book, my island is beginning to develop its distinct flavor. Call it high class popcorn. Call it wildly entertainng. I just call it home. :)

*Bricklayer* (in my best Seinfeld saying Newman way possible)

Now I will have to make this draft drag until Dark Knight is released so I can take it to my island. ;)

This movie was definitely one of the better comic book films, but there are a couple items in particular about it (one or two technical, one about the ending) that really bugged me. Doesn't take away from the film itself, though. I don't want to go into detail here, other than to say "nice choice".

And please let's not drag this out any more than necessary, LL. I want to keep this moving! ;)

Remember the moment in "The Sixth Sense" when the pieces suddenly add up, everything starts making sense and you have the sudden realization that you simply didn't noticed what's been going on right in front of your eyes?

Yeah, I had that same type of moment about Brick's draft strategy right when I saw "Batman Begins" as his next pick. A cinematic theme park indeed. Savvy.

My draft board may need some reshuffling.

Wall Street 1987

Simply because I still remain indecisive on how to handle the rest of my picks, although I think I’m getting closer to having a comfort level with the direction I’m headed. I decided to stick with the next up on my most recent list and then reshuffle again from there. Losing The Breakfast Club dinged me again, which made me get protective with this selection. I’m going to roll the dice here and take this one and hope a couple of others make it back the next time around.

Michael Douglas good ol Gordon Gekko was at his swarmy best here and in the era this movie was made, that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing no? Greed, after all, was indeed good. What’s a little insider information between pals or mentor/mentee?

Watching the rise and hard fall of lil Charlie Sheen’s character and his moral crises? Yikes. The realization that lil Charlie unwittingly sells out his dad’s airline, how lil Charlie tries to unsellout his dad’s airline, Martin Sheen’s face bulging when he confronts his son in the elevator. The intricacies of the stock market and how people who know how to work it…interesting stuff

Laughing at the big-bahonking computers back in the 80s. I still watch this movie and there would have been a group of similarly themed movies occupying a piece of my little island library- this and Glengarry glen ross which I may borrow from another island ;) I’ve got a few others I could sub for GGR, but Wall Street will take the top spot for now…..

I had several options for non-serious stuff, but I had to save this one...

btw NoBonus...meant to mention this before nice signature! RIP Mitch, that was one funny dude!

Batman Begins

damn you brick, first the score and now this? i hope your island has some decent security cause i am tempted to sneak on it while you are occupied with one of your babes and take this one. great pick. christian bale saved this franchise if you as me. can't wait for the dark knight.

Well after Groundhog Day got gobbled up I was a little distraught. And then I just remembered this equally good Bill Murray comedy. Maybe a little weaker on story, but no weaker on laughs.

Ghostbusters - 1984

Come on, giant Stay Puft man, Slimer ghost, don't cross the streams. An iconic theme song, skinny Dan Akyroyd, Murray in his prime, and Sigourney Weaver when she was good looking (sort of)? This is who I'm gonna call.

With some sort of improvised coconut phone of course....

I was wondering when this was going to go - if it kept falling I was going to add it later.

So I decided I was going to take a Cops and Robbers movie with this pick and with about a million films to choose from, I narrowed my list to 3 and ultimately choose

Heat 1995

For me this is the cream of the crop when your talking Cop vs. Robber. Some of the robbery scenes in this film are unreal. Some will cry that this movie is way too long. It is quite long, IIRC when this was released to VHS it was a two taper. For me the character development is what makes this movie more than just your typical cop v. robber. You actually get a "real" peek into each of their lives and you ultimately see how similar the two main characters are. And if all of that stuff bores you, then you can just FF to to one of the greatest robbery scenes of all time and just watch that over and over.

<crosses Heat off my list>

Interesting to see some movies fall that I think would go sooner and some the other way around. And some I've never seen so I have no idea how good or bad they are.....
