Solid picks, dime...
Here's my third round pick:
Swingers - 1996
You dirty mikki fikki!
I somewhat anticipated this not being popular with you. I almost went with something else.
Then I thought about your RHCP-BSSM pick in the music thread, came to my senses, and picked Swingers anyway....
If that makes me a mikki fikki, so be it...![]()
You dirty mikki fikki!
A premeditated mikki fikki, no less.
I was really hoping everyone would just forget about that one for a few rounds.
sshhhhhhhh! do not give them ideas. plus people the links don't work so don't bother clicking on them.People.
I am about to shake my head in sorrow.
Nobody?
you know you want to
maybe this one?
I wish I was in this.
The Departed (2006)
What can I say? I thought this would be taken in the 1st round. Obviously not a fan favourite of the Kings! I thought this was a great movie. Great director, great cast, great acting and great storyline. This film had everything. Twists, turns etc. Huge hit worldwide. Really didn't expect it to be here. Will probably be looked back on as a classic in years to come. Recieved alot of hype, but I think it lived up to it.

I am still hindered in that film by thinking that if skinny little Anthony Perkins surprised me in the shower I'd pop him in the nose, take his cute little knife away, and wash his mouth out with a bar of soap.![]()
I first saw Psycho when I was a teenager so I got on the train late...my uncle talked my cousin and I into watching it when it was on a cable channel and somehow snuck out of the room just before Martin Balsam's character was killed and scared the LIVING CRAP out of my cousin and I when he crept up from behind the couch we were sitting in when the violins started blaring... ahhhh..the childhood memories.
I didn't have it high on my list because I didn't think I'd get it...I apparently wanted to be scared witless by Antony Hopkins and not Perkins on my island...
I hate to be the one to skip over someone's pick but I also want to keep the draft moving for those who are waiting.
I wasn't even thinking of taking my next choice until I started looking through my DVD's. I saw it and knew I had to take it with me to the island. Maybe a little early but I did not want to let 22 picks go by and risk not having it.
The Goonies-1985
This film conjures up soooo many childhood memories. As a kid we would travel to Oregon to visit family. We would always visit Astoria on the Oregon coast where much of this film was shot. Haystack rock. I thought it was so cool to be where "the goonies" lived.
Although this movie is not really considered to be any type of cinematic masterpiece, I know most growing up in the 80's would count Goonies as one of their favorites. Chunk, Sloth, Mouth, Data....just a few memorable characters. Baby Ruuuth! The quest for One Eyed Willies treasure, a great adventure and again a movie I never get tired watching.
This still baffles me. I was a few years older than its intended target audience I suppose when it came out, but amongst us it was kind of, and do not take this personally, but a standing joke. Something you grouped with Gremlins etc. as a cutesy kid thing and beneath us too cool for word teeneager types. And yet this is now the second indication here in the last month that a movie I had totally forgotten existed and may not even have heard of in 20 years is considered something of a classic in some circles. I may not always agree with them, but rarely have I been that fundamanetally ignorant of the existence of a pop culture phenomenon.
ugh, i am late for this draft as well. sorry all, my fault, was away for a bit.
i'll go with:
american history X - 1998

ed norton really surprised me with his strong acting (and his hulk-sized cut) in this movie. a good story about hate and redemption, and something i'll always watch if it happens to be on TV.
LoungeLizard, you were so right. I was gone mostly yesterday so when I turned on the TV today it was still on TNT from the Lakers game.
And guess what was just starting? Forrest Gump. It ruined my entire day, everytime I thought I could get up and leave, I'd find myself walking by as another memorable scene happened and had to sit to watch.
Plus it was cool seeing it in HD for the first time. The Vietnam and DC scenes look much better than I remember.
