The reason the Kings will have a good team!

Last year we didn't have an effective backup PG or C. This year we have both, and we added an athletic sharpshooter.
Wait, when did the Kings get an effective backup PG or C? Who are you talking about?

They've got some guys who are unproven in those roles, who might turn out to be effective, but I had more confidence in those positions before last season than I do this year.

Defense

Salmons is not a good defender, I don't know where people get that idea from. And we still have terrible depth and interior defense. Woods is not the answer to our shotblocking problems. The guy could barely come off the bench in Toronto, who had even worse defense than we did.
Actually Salmons is a pretty good defender. Didn't get much of a chance to show it at Philly. As for Toronto, maybe thats why they didn't have a very good defense. Could Be.........:D

It's funny how everybody assumes we got a steal by signing Loren Woods. While chances are that he's way more likely to see as many minutes as Ronnie Price than a guy like Kenny or Cisco.
Everyone? I didn't assume we got a steal. And from what I've read in various threads, neither does most others.

I think he'll be the back-up C and get 15-18 MPG.

Indeed. Salmons is long and athletic at 6'7" 205, and does play defense from what I've gathered. Aside from that, there are guys like Ron Artest and Eric Musselman to make him better on both ends of the floor, while getting a consistent oppurtunity and having a clear role.

His role and oppurtunity were limited in Philly because of Allen Iverson and other guys ahead of him (also with not standing out sometimes because of that situation in Philly). As was referenced to in the Salmons Bee article, too.

Plus, there is a significant difference in fan-bases.

The settings are simply opposite.

Woods will be better than using SAR (seeing as Potato never played) as our backup C. Salmons will be better than Hart.

If he didn't get a chance to show it in Philly, how in the hell do you know he is a good defender then?

Aside from my own views, here's the article I referenced to - http://www.sacbee.com/content/sports/basketball/kings/story/14281923p-15089950c.html

So, Musselman and Petrie wanted him based off of speculating, and his tools/skills, and the clearly different situation he's coming into is also "speculation".

Hard to keep a positive thread gong arund here, ain't it?:p ;)

I'm a natural born pessimist, but at the start of every season, there's always that part of me that hopes for more than I expect. :)

First. The only person uppity about the kings now is me. I know why to laugh. The time will come when opponents fold under ron's enclosed fist warning of strike. the first game of the season tells much. heres how i look at our good stuff. we got a frontcourt there is a backcourt presence. and the most dangerous person perse in the middle of those. Will he play good? Well that why petrie hired a bunch of points. the name of the game is who can make ron artest play to his abilities. I heard the next iverson was due in last years draft....
