I think if Kerr keeps going with the wing/G ball then he has to play. There was one moment where the Warriors PG in Poole was as big as the Kings SF. That's where the Kings have suffered all year if the offense isn't cooking to keep them in it.

Honestly, the two things over these past 3 games that stand out to me are,
1: We don't need to be shooting the ball well to win. In Game 2, we started the game playing like we lost Game 1. We hit them so hard physically that they accuse us of "using basketball as a weapon". (LOL) And we took that game with our physicality and our defense while shooting like 20% from 3.
2: They HAD to use Loon, GPII, and DiVincenzo more than they'd like, for they aren't shooters, just to match up to our offense to not let us create any big leads with our diverse offense.
I'm not worried about it (it also has a lot to do with me not worrying about the Kings losing this series for it's only gonna make them better next time around, but I digress) if we just stay poise and stay present at the moment. We are gonna hit some of those open shots we missed, and if we can just keep up the pressure and our focus defensively, I like our chances to steal Game 4.

yeah I agree but at the same time we're a new team that didn't even do anything crazy to make a push at the deadline. I'm not sure why people are treating this like the 2005 or 2006 version of the playoff Kings.
Jeez, in 1995/96 Rock & Grant teams people were hyped after falling a game short and then getting gentleman's swept by the Sonics.

I will give Warriors fans some begrudging credit for lustily booing Domas every time he touched the ball, even if I think they're collectively pretty scummy for defending what Dray did as hard as some of them are
Idk if that had an impact but I think there has to be some kind of impact going into that arena and seeing all the banners and everything else - especially for a young team, facing off against the defending champs and the most dominant team most of these guys have known has gotta do something to your head
It's impossible as a fan to say if that actually had an impact but lots of guys looked completely out of sorts. Barnes looked the most steady of the group but that's to be expected. If this team regroups and plays focused there's no reason we can't win game 4

It wasn't THAT loud to me. Definitely present and more than "noticeable", but it wasn't overly loud to us. I don't know how it sounded on the broadcast.
We also were shaking our heads at the implications of that behavior.
It's funny - we were able to have pretty normal conversations through at least 2/3 of the game and the peak noise levels were pretty tame.

Some people are honestly just really ugly on the inside and they seek out spaces externally where they can justify being negative.
None of these edge lords have anything resembling the spirit of a winner - Coach Brown had to change the culture within the org - it appears the culture around could use some cleaning out as well. Kings need to purge some followers or we'll end up like the Ws fanbase who were literally having a seizure and hallucinations after losing two games. Same energy.
They need to find another team. UNFOLLOW.

A certain part of me wants to believe that all of these people are actually NOT Kings fans.
Another part of me wants to believe that all of these people, even in their non-Kings/non-sports lives, are just miserable on the outside as much as they are on the inside. Nothing pleases them. They always seek out the negatives in life.
It's, unfortunately, the job of people like us (@pdxKingsFan, @NewArena, @Vinny Basketballerino) to make sure that those people don't derail our party. A task that, at times, is much easier said than done.
"Their A game" is some sort of fantasy. Against good defenses almost nobody looks good.
The playoffs are all about defense. The officiating is looser. Teams play hard.

Between these two teams, it comes to down to who shoot well, who get more 2nd chance shots and who is being more physical. The Kings didn't do none of these and the result is a blow out. If you play well on defense and making them missed, only for them to get an offensive rebound...it's going to demoralize you. All the Kings players need to come back and help with the rebound because as soon as the Warriors player shoot the ball...they run to the basket. In one replay, I notice Barnes had to try to box out the shooter who run to the basket but then his own man Wiggins crash the board as well and ended up with the rebound. So, I mean that's not hard to figure out....I am sure the Kings players can do the same what the GS did...had player crash the board as soon as he finish shooting the ball. Some players don't want to crash and just stand there...so it's just a matter of how much do you want it? Of course there is risk of doing that because of easy break out....but the GS is gambling on pretty much everything...they're playing desperate.

The offensive rebounds are indeed a killer. Sabonis pulled down 15+ rebounds, but it didn’t feel like it because of all the second-chance points.
We can clean that up, though, as you suggest. Just have to be more conscientious and a little tougher. GSW’s physicality picked up big time

You would think the shots would start going in at some point. In a few instances I saw Kings players missing or running into physical defense and then turning to the ref with their hands in the air while the ball was still live; that's where experience is the difference.

The Kings two best 3 point shooters have been their two worst 3 point shooters in the playoffs. That is going to have to change in order to stay afloat.
Defense has been solid. I really have no complaints there and that was my biggest complaint all season.
Warriors have hands all over the ball anytime Domas tries to do anything with it. It's taken away the engine of the offense. Kings are going to need to readjust and find other ways to score.

I've seen people say this elsewhere it's just not true. My eye test on the first three games saw the issue as Huerter and Keegan getting open looks and just not hitting them. I haven't found published individual stats, but our team 3 point stats bear it out
The Kings have had 24 wide open 3 point shots per game and are shooting 26% on those attempts. That's the most wide open 3 point attempts of any team in the playoffs this year, and we're converting at the lowest rate in the league. We were hitting those shots at 39% in the regular season

The fact that we're leading in open 3s by a relatively wide margin - appx 10 more open 3PA per game than median team - and that those looks are going to 40% shooters shows pretty clearly the Warriors are actually playing pretty horrible 3 point defense. They've done a good job in the interior on Domas as well as being aggressive gambling and forcing turnovers but they haven't been able to stop our shooters from getting open looks at all
Great post, love seeing the data back up the eyes in which I really feel like we're getting a bunch of good 3pt shots that we want and just bricking them.
Honestly, Fox is probably taking the "worst" quality 3s of anyone and he's the only guy spacing for us

Eye test says Keegan and Huerter feel sped up in this series. Even when wide open, their timimg is off.
I dont know, surely the kings are feeling pressure after getting blown out; had they lost in a close one I might agree. As someone alluded, the kings need to bring game 2 energy as closely as possible. Cut and dry. They looked cocky to me in the 1Q, and got their hat handed to em...nothing subtitutes for hard work. Kings shooters are not as good as talented as warriors, so they need win in other ways, not a 3pt shooting contest. Have a feeling game 4 will be ultra physical.

We are an upstart who have already far exceeded expectations and they are a dynasty with several players and front office members hanging in the balance. If they lose this series in 6 major changes are likely coming. The kings didn’t play well and frankly either did the Warriors. They won on the offensive boards just like we did prior. Clean it up and play our game and I like our chances.
That is exactly what good defense does. Even the open shots are harder to hit.
Basketball has a lot to do with confidence. Even at the NBA level. Good defense impacts the confidence of offensive players. They are looking around for someone to block their shots. They can be tentative at the rim. They get lost on offense. Never under estimate the impact of good team defense. It wins championships. And it can make the Kings' A game hard to find.
