Kobe rolls ankle vs Cavs...

Had to be carried off the floor after landing on Ira Newble's foot. He looked to be in extreme pain. Will he make a heroic return like some distinguished KF regs have said he always does?...

Lakers are going to win this game as well...good win for the team without Kobe.

Sure was. The East is weak. Cav's can't beat a Kobe less Laker team and the Heat have a losing record against the West.

Rumor has it Baron Von Munchausen actuly got sick once in a while. Too bad for the shooting gaurd that cried wolf that we have to be skeptical, but I do hope it is nothing serious. Beating LA with out Kobe will lack some fo the zest of watching the team go down with him at the helm.

I've watched the tape on SportsCenter over and over and over again. While he did roll it, it didn't look REALLY bad. It didn't look good but it didn't roll as bad as I've seen before.

I will, in return for the "distinguished KF reg" comment, refrain from making my usual snide remark.

I wish serious injuries on no one.

Maybe I saw a different tape but I thought it looked horrible. Problem is it looks like it is one of those dreaded "high ankle sprains" which can conceivably be worse than a broken bone.

Kobe was in the air and Newble came in behind him and although I don't think it was a cheap shot I kind of wonder what Newble was thinking. His ankle twisted forward and over(if that makes sense) and I would imagine this could be a 6-8 week type of injury.

Now, knowing Kobe he will be back next game and grimace the whole time while scoring 40 :D .

No, he normally saves the grimace and score trick for when he's NOT hurt but is looking to prove what a warrior he is.

I'm just throwing some gasoline on the fire here. Bryant told reporters that it could be "weeks" before he returned and that it doesn't feel like a common ankle roll. We'll see how long it takes him to return. The saga continues...

I have watched some people getting hurt without anyone near them and have missed like a year or so. With respect to injuries you can never tell by just looking at what happened, cos you dont get to look under the skin to see whats happening there.

i think this is possibly the best thing that has happened to this lakers team all season. they are finally gonna get a chance to see what theyre made of. w/o kobe, theyve got a lot to prove. w/o kobe, i suspect they will learn a lot about TEAM basketball. they will learn how to play together and feed off each other for the first time. if its a long stretch w/o bean, then they may run outta gas and slide a bit. it will be interesting to see how the lakers respond. if they can somehow keep in the playoff race for one of the bottom seeds, then i imagine, if kobe makes a smooth transition back into the team, they will play well. but, this is all just mindless conjecture. kobe may be out for 2 weeks, he may be out for 8. the team may respond well, and they may not. who knows? i dont even think they do....

I think they'll learn, but they'll go on a nasty stretch. Just a hunch. It's going to be tough depending on potent offense from Butler and Odom every night. These guys are consistently inconsistent in many respects. Pixie, you may enjoy what you're about to witness over the coming weeks.

OK, update:

Kobe's expected to miss 2 weeks (6 gms) with the ankle. Will he or won't he come back before 1/31? Get your bets in now.

Hey Gargy,

Since you seem to be the expert on Tag in skivvies...;) is that a birthmark on Tag's upper left thigh, or a tattoo?

Lakers have yet to face Portland this year. Hopefully Kobe will be up for Portland, remembering what he did the last time he faced the Jailblazers.

Kinda brings a tear to your eye, huh???
