I feeling unusually positive at the moment about our KINGS!!! 9-8 is awesome! and a true testament to Paul W. and the young talented kids we got.

speaking of young talent... wouldn't it be cool to have JT, Green vs Tyreke and Casspi in the Rookie vs Soph game?

The only thing that could be better in my mind would be if K-Mart then went on to make the real all-star team(long shot).... giving us 5 all-stars... kinda

I totally agree. I think Greene might be a bit of a long shot but if he can continue to play at a producive level i think he has a good shot. Martin has a 0% chance of making it unfortunately but we know for sure we will have at least 1 king there in Reke! Heres hoping for 4 kings @ the allstar game...anyone know whats the most we have ever had in one year? 4 might challenge for the title....GO KINGS!!!

It is going to be hard to keep JT, Evans, and Omri out of the Rookie challenge. But, i would really like to see Omri in the 3pt shootout. I am sure he qualifies.

I sure do hope Jt and Greene make the Sophmore team. I'm fairly confident Reke and Omri make the Rookie team.

These Guys are most likely locked to be in the Soph. team.

Derrick Rose
Michael Beasley
O.J. Mayo
Russell Westbrook
Eric Gordon
Brook Lopez
Mario Chalmers
Mareese Speights

Yeah, even as well as JT is playing it's still going to be tight for him to make the team and Donte has no chance.

If Tyreke doesn't make it, there should be an investigation. Omri really should make it, especially considering how most of the best rookies have been the guards.

Over Jason Thompson? Now that would be unfair.

yea Chalmers and Speights have been playing very good. Speights has had games like JT this year. 20+ pts 10+ reb playing less minutes than JT.

Beasley's been nothing special. I would take JT's numbers over Beasley's any day. 3 more rebounds per game, .5 more blocks per game, and a much higher shooting percentage. JT should be a lock.

Don't forget that Oden and Fernandez are also sophs despite being from the 2007 draft class...

Yea but you know the NBA...Kings have to be spectacular to be in some sort of all-star weekend activites.

Speights is injured, and there are more than 8 people on the sophomore team. Jt is a lock, if he wants to go. But i suspect he couldn't care less.

There are nine.

I don't think JT is a lock at this point, but I think he has a legit chance. As far as caring? JT, by his own admission, really hoped to go to the Rook/Soph game last year. Not sure why he'd not care about it now. I imagine he'd be ecstatic to go.

No. In an interview earlier this season, he talked about his disappoinment over not making the Rookie team last year. He wants to be on the Soph team. Knowing JT, though, I think he'd pass on the Soph team if he could be on the All-Star team. ;)

JT is playing better then Speights and Beasley but... Beasley is the #2 pick and plays next to D-Wade in Miami and Speights gets more national attention playing in Philly. JT deserves it more but I'm not sure he'll get it...

Oden/Lopez
Gasol/JT
Rudy/Beasley
Gordon/Mayo
Rose

I'm not sure Portland would let Oden play due to risk of Injury... in that case Westbrook or Speights would make the team.

The homer in me thinks it should be..

Lopez/Gasol
JT/Beasley
Greene/Rudy F
Mayo/Rudy F
Rose/Westbrook

Er, that's really out of the blue. :p

Of course they'd let him play. And injuries have hardly been a concern this year, let alone in a little exhibition match. Whether he gets in above Lopez/Gasol is another question.

As an aside, us winning and raising our profile probably helps JT's chances as well. Certainly many guys on losing teams make it every year, but a winning team adds a little sheen.

Yea but Speights plays 10 less minutes than thompson does.

Speights 23.4 mpg 13 pts 6.4 reb 1 blk (if you round it)
Thompson 34.5 mpg 14.5 pts 9.4 reb 1.18 blk

It seems that if Speights played 10 more mins he would produce at the same level or maybe even higher than JT.

Typically, all star (even Rookie vs. Sophomore) participants aren't selected on a basis of playing well in limited minutes. If Speights is as good as Thompson, the questions follows, why isn't he getting as many minutes as Thompson? There could be a variety of answers to that question, of course, but usually teams find a way to get good players minutes.

Also, I don't think Donte Greene has a chance to be selected. Many people have already labeled him a bust, and while Kings Fans know he's played well when given the opportunity, the rest of league doesn't. Also, because the aforementioned question comes in to play, he doesn't really deserve a spot (until he can produce consistently). Don't get me wrong, I'm very high on Donte, and think that he could eventually become a special player, but right now he's still below average.

Agreed.

Speights has had to contend with Elton Brand eating up 14 million and 40mpg and Dalembert eating up 12 million and 33mpg. Both those players are integral to the franchise, and if either player saw a reduction of minutes, their individual value would plummet faster than pat summit.

I know this but i was comparing stats because the other poster asked me too and the reason Speights doesn't start might be because All-Star PF Brand is on the team.

Speights could be out two months with a torn MCL. There's no way he's in the conversation if JT keeps this up. Beasley, too, has been disappointing. He's averaging 15.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 0.6 blocks on .445 from the field to Jason's 14.5, 9.4, 1.2 on .481. If you want to bring assists into the equation, Jason also beats Beasley 2.1 to 0.9. There really shouldn't even be a question.

Also, I don't get the Rudy hype. At this point in the season, I think he's even behind guys like Anthony Morrow, Danilo Gallinari, Ersan Illysova, and Chris Douglas-Roberts. Yeah, they're all on terrible teams, but the numbers are remarkably better.

And why hold it against rookies and sophomores that they are on bad teams? Wouldn't you expect the best rookies and sophomores to be on bad teams since those teams generally get higher picks?
