Warriors Arena Deal Dead

Besides the obvious, I would like to know how much the public will help out in the next arena deal in the Bay Area.

Probably nothing if we're strictly talking about the Warriors. The city was going to give them the land but the W's would finance everything else.

If they're going to do it across McCovey Cove, the Giants will finance the whole thing and then the W's will pay rent.

I'm starting to think that the whole Pier 32 hubub with the press conference and what not was a way to gain leverage against the Giants. The Giants want to build the arena but need the W's as an anchor tenant. When the W's bluffed and said they would build on their own, the Giants blinked. Or so I guess. We'll have to see. I'm not convinced that this is dead yet.

I agree with everything you said.

Pier 30-32 site is an outrageously expensive site to build on. It might as well be as expensive as building it on water.

Yeah. It's $100 million just to prep it for construction then actual construction is $500 million. This is why I'm thinking that it was a ploy to leverage the Giants into giving them a better deal across the cove.
