Lue or AJ for a second round pick would make me happy.
I say ship out AJ, because Lue would be a better spark-guy off the bench.
I like AJ to Utah...He's a reliable steady PG that would seem like a Sloan guy...And look what Utah's working with right now. Jason F. Hart and Ronnie Price.

I thought you could flip people around instantly?
I remember a few years back Rasheed Wallace was traded to the Hawks, played a game, then was traded to the Pistons. I heard something on the radio about him being one of few players that have scored 20+ points for three teams in one season.

If traded individually, you don't have to wait. But if you combine him w/ another player, I believe the wait is two months. If you combine him w/ KT, the wait is forever...

Didn't somewhere say the Suns or Celtics were interested in one of these guys? I'd swap them for a similarly-priced expiring, and we'd get a 2nd for our troubles.

Still a free 2nd round pick. Could be used as sweetner in another deal or to try to move up. Also, there's always someone worth taking a flyer on. Didn't I read somewhere that Brad Miller and Ben Wallace weren't drafted?

Players recieved in a trade have to be re-traded within 24 hours if you want to trade them on. If 24 hours passes, you must wait 30 days. I'm 90% sure on this, might be a little off.

i doubt thats true, that pick will be high teens. he might be worth a 2nd rounder.
Though the Suns have been known, as recently as last year, to have completely triaged first-round picks so they didn't have to contend with the guaranteed contract.

I actually think Lue has a better chance of getting traded, on two levels:
1) His perceived value is higher. He's had championship experience with the Lakers, he's played at a relatively high level as a starter in Orlando, and he's consistently shown that he can sparkplug a bench with good three point shooting as well as the ability to create his own shot, and even hit it. Not a scoring machine, but think Eddie House-like in his ability to spark the bench. Although he's not a real passer, he's not turnover prone at all either. He hasn't really had much of a chance to play for a contender, but his game definitely looks the part as being a missing piece for many teams.
2) Although Lue can be a source of consistency off the bench for us...think about it...does a 30 year old vet like him really want to play off the bench for us, behind Udrih, on a very mediocre team? He's accepted it in Orlando, but him being a relative journeyman in this league I don't think he's willing to accept that sort of role for long, unless it's for a winning team. Besides, he's sort of redundant to Quincy Douby, and if he stays it will undoubtedly take away playing time from Douby and we'll get stuck into playing veterans for a mediocre team--a trend I at least I'd prefer not to follow. Playing youngs for a mediocre team would be better--hence Lue would probably be better off geting traded.
I would imagine we can even get a 1st round pick for Lue, depending on how badly a team wants him (I would imagine Phoenix would dangle one). His talent relative to the amount we can get for trading him suggests a late 1st rounder, but even a 2nd rounder should be fine.

As amazing as it sounds, Anthony Johnson actually started 40 games for the Hawks this year, but that really hasn't raised his value much. Offensively passive point guards don't get much love in the NBA (Anthony Carter, Milt Palacio, etc.) and AJ simply follows that trend. Another thing about AJ is that he's developed a rep as a jack of all trades, master of none sort of guy at the PG position, and that unsurprisingly doesn't get paid really well. He's shown several anomalies this year (43% 3-pt shooting, 4.7 apg for example) but considering that he's already 33, scouts aren't going to leap for joy over those stats. His playoff experience with the Nets has endeared him to several teams, but the fact that he was benchwarmer and journeyman may also turn him off from teams as well. Much of his perceived value is a double-edged sword, balanced by ups and downs, so I think best bet is we keep him as sort of a vet presence behind Udrih, and seeing that he's still productive this season, let him play it out and then let him go over the summer.

I think part of Bibby's ever-declining trade value was killed off by yearlong speculation, and that may have had its ramifications in the final outcome of the deal. It went from Bibby for Drew Gooden to Bibby for four separate players who don't equal Bibby's value. I'm pretty sure Geoff requested one, but the fact that he only got a 2nd-rounder in return sort of illustrates that declining value.

It is actually Atlanta's 1st round pick for THIS year that Phoenix has. That for Lue and one of the Kings 2 second rounders might work. If ATL ends up 8th in the east that will likely be about 15th overall or the middle of the first round. That I like.

Yah the Kings did it with Dickau a few years back. Plus there was a year we didn't have a pick. I think the late first rounders are good for teams contending to trade away in order to get that final piece to the puzzle to contend. Although I don't think Lue is that piece Phoenix needs.

Personally, I would keep one of those PGs we got from Atlanta to back up Beno but would be open to dealing both for the right kind of deal.
Lue is probably the player that has greater trade value but bythe same token he would be better player to keep as a spark plug off the bench. Either way I am not particularly fussed. I wouldn't be surprised if we re-signed one of these players for next season as a cheap back up option, depending on who we get in the draft.

They have Barbosa as their #1 guard off the bench and I think they like the energy Strawberry brings so Lue would be a bit of a surplus to their needs I would have thought!

Thsi shoudl be a simple gameplan -- trade one, the other, or both of those guys to any playoff contending team looking for a little quick bit of PG help in exchange for a 2nd round pick (and a matching ending contract). Anybody wants to do that, we should instantly say yes no matter hwo the other ending player is.
Fred Jones however is another ending contract veteran, so swapping our ending contract veteran for their ending contract veteran would do nothing for us unless we had plans to resing Jones in the offseason (somewhat younger than the other guys, and a combo guard that we once talked about on here as a replacement Bobby).
