The KingsFans Mock Draft discussion thread

would take to long
fair enough, I just think it would open up the trading if second rounders were included ..

as far as time goes, teams in the NBA only have 2 mins to select second round picks, and 5 in the first ... maybe we can do the same thing here were we have teams on the clock for a much shorter period of time for the second round.

As an aside, if its a close thing, if you have 25 peeps looking to fill the 24 slots for instance, I will step out. I'm not really a draftologist, especially in the latter parts of rounds. And I've got plenty to do around here. So if somebody wants in, my spot is expendable.

I got to get the randomizer set up then we'll start on Saturday or Sunday

I can make it easy for you. Once you have 24 names, I'll put them in the randomizer and send you the results. I'm not participating so I'm just an impartial bystander. You've already got numbers by each name so getting a random sequence of 24 numerals will only take a second.

:)

Looks like it's almost full. I went ahead and used the randomizer to generate a sequence of 24 numbers and sent the results to GeraldWallace#3 so it looks like you guys will be able to get going fairly shortly...

Well, I guess this is what I get for going up to San Diego today. I'm assuming that the mock is full. I would have loved to have been a part of it. Disappointed!:(

Hey guys, GW#3 mentioned about possibly doing the 2 rounds, in which case we'd need 30 most likely (never checked to see if either team has no picks) so all hope isn't lost yet.

Thanks will be appreciated, and will you help me run this kinda new. Do anything you want.

One way to run a mock is to randomly match each person with a pick in the first round. If you do that, you'll need 30 participants. How does that sound?

You might just take names and then match them randomly to a team. So if someone gets Sacramento, they'll be making three picks in the draft, etc.

If we get two more we will be able to do the second round (i know its 29 but the Magic don't have any picks at all)

Sorry, missed this the first time... :o

If you're going to have people randomly matched to teams, it's not much of a stretch to go both rounds because the GMs will already be addressing their needs, etc.

What I've seen done elsewhere is if you don't get 30 or 29 participants, someone takes more than one team unless you get a late GM addition.

GW3 - How do you know bajaden and KingsCitizen will get teams that don't draft in the first round? I'd suggest getting 29 participants and then I can run an alphabetized randomizer for the teams. The person with the number that matches the random # assigned to the team will get that team... and might draft in the first round and the second round, or just the second, etc. the only team we wouldn't put into the mix would be Orlando...

Your great I don't know what I would do without you. Man I'm am not so well at this lol.

Great? Well, thanks but basically I'm just old... and I've been involved in a lot of mock drafts. Want a bit of Kings trivia? Our own Kingsgurl, who hasn't posted lately, accurately picked Kevin Martin for the Kings back in the day when no one even knew who he was. :)

this is how it should be done =]

Since you're going to allow trades, etc. I've already got the randomized sequence of numbers ready. Even people who don't have a pick until the second round just might be able to get involved in trading up once they know which teams they've drawn. How long do you want to wait before you find out what they are? I could give the names of the teams for all those already signed up and let the remaining people take a chance on whichever ones are left...

Sorry, GW3. Looks like I'm stepping all over your toes on this. Feel free to slap me silly if you wish...

Since we allow trades, I think every team deserves a GM even if they can't pick in the first. There's always a possibility to offer future picks or players just to get a first round draft. How does this sound?
