I'm not sure Jones cracks the rotation if most/all Kings bench players are resigned. Nice looking floater and jumpshot, but where's the off-hand ? He kinda looks like a smaller version of Lyles without the rebounding.
Kings ought to resign Lyles and give him a pay-raise. He deserves it.
WE PASSED ON TRAYCE JACKSON DAVIS AT 54... holy gorgonzoli...
the conversations I got into around here for suggesting he wouldnt be a very good pick at 24.. That stuff was PREPOSTEROUS!! my goodness.. totally unreasonable.. some esteemed expert round here posted something like "I couldnt think of a reason why it wouldnt work" (talking about TJD at 24..) N I swear I used to just say that I thought a forward like O-Max would fit positionally and need wise more, n at 54 we take a forward more like that and pass on TJD. Wow, he goes 57th and avoids going UDFA, and we clear Holmes out in this scenario, so it simply wasnt a match, like I said all along too short. Not surprised to see Nnaji go 25 picks ahead of him.
Excellent draft for the Kings though! Immediacy is the name of the game, make no mistake about it, the playoff push goes on we dont skip a beat, no time for development projects.
Holmes really held us back now freeing up that space n spending it wisely will immediately help our chances. This also just free up a roster spot because with Holmes as a lame duck that meant the Kings would basically need to hold 4 C's, now balance has been restored to the depth chart. Lyles will obvioulsy be brought back, Queta too? does that leave room for Len? The only deviation I could really see from that plan would be to go after a shotblocker (though pretty much all scenarios involve resingning Lyles far as Im concerned)
I think that Holmes found a good landing spot in Dallas, they need all the help they can get, with O-Max he'll probably be able to play with an energy unit off the bench.
Colby Jones is an interesting player who should fit well with Malik Monk off the bench. He is a gamble on a player who can help us right away, he's got a good feel for the game and is built to hit the ground running.. He can handle 15mpg off the bench right away if needed.. major plus on the ball-movement --- When the offense is sputtering can he pull it together and make a play for us, get someone an easy shot? Make that extra pass? I think we took him on the Kings to make that extra pass, he's that guy., He's going to be useful defensively this is a player who was tested often in the big east and he can switch around for us well. Kid who just wants to win too, excellent lockerroom fit. Long as he shoots it well he'll do great here. I'd compare him to Denzel Valentine who obviously was overdrafted quite a bit but I think Jones is superior, n obviously the Kings are a way better fit and a way better team with a way better coach than the Bulls had for Valentine. Valentine's shot failed him at the NBA level, COlby Jones is a player who I think should be a good but not great shooter, long as he's decent he does plenty else for ya, I think we didnt get Colby Jones to be some sniper for us but to rather help facilitate for the firepower we've already got. Lyles and him make a good pair on a unit too, very high iq, good anticipation guys, tough players feel for the game, stuff we will need in the playoffs.
Slawson at 54 is an older player you'd hope would contribute sooner than later, after 5 years in college. He's an interesting gamble in todays NBA where combo forwards who can shoot 3's and play tough can vault their value quickly. He had a massive uptick in his 3pt shooting this season, can he provide us with 3's, dunks, defense and rebounding. I'd compare him to a player who went undrafted in 2019 O'Shae Brisset, whos stuck with the Pacers n played 65 games in each of the last 2 seasons --- Methinks Slawsons path to sticking would look something like that. I have often mentioned the Kings could probably use a PF off the bench in the mold of Brandon Clarke(Grizzlies), this would be a superlow cost swing in that direction.
I have just logged on... and I have not seen any news... but before I react to any realities, let me just remind you... with the team we had "last year"... we very much should have been in the western conference finals... that is all I have to say before further commentary... and as always... Love andLasagna to you all!!!

There's like a ten page span in the spoiler thread where everyone goes through the five stages of grief but then someone shares a highlight video of the guys we picked and cooler heads prevail.
