Kings113 said:What's the big deal (aka an explanation, not frustration or hostility)? I was just putting out a possible reason. I doubt it's that one anyways, but the lack of seeing the guy. Which I've pointed out twice is understandable and fine, but if so, he's writing the guy off and not saying "what I've seen of him, which isn't a whole lot". When Nocioni is more than "just a physical player".
BibityBobtyBoom said:(Replying to a post earlier) i would rather give away darius songaila to the bulls than trading him for eric piatowski. Man that would almost be as bad as making one and only one offseason move all summer by signing greg ostertag. Oh wait... we have already done that...
"Sacramento forward Darius Songaila visited the Berto Center on Wednesday to meet with Bulls general manager John Paxson and the coaching staff. Songaila is a restricted free agent and it’s unclear whether the Bulls plan to sign him to an offer sheet or try to negotiate a trade with the Kings. Complicating matters is the fact that Sacramento’s payroll is already above the luxury-tax threshold, so the Kings do not want to take on any players in return." Arlington Heights Daily Herald
"The Bulls could sign Songaila to an offer sheet using their remaining salary-cap exception (most likely worth $2.2 million) and hope the Kings don’t match. But they could not send a draft pick to Sacramento in exchange for the 27-year-old native of Lithuania without giving up an equal salary in return." Arlington Heights Daily Herald
"Bartelstein raised the possibility of involving a third team that has a trade exception available as a way to send Sacramento a draft pick, but he is not sure how things will play out. The Bulls are willing to include shooting guard Eric Piatkowski, who will make $3 million next season, in a trade." Arlington Heights Daily Herald
"By adding Songaila to the roster, the Bulls would have extra depth in case center Eddy Curry is unable to play or decides to retire because of a heart condition. For now, the Bulls expect Curry to play next season. The team could also cut down the workload of Antonio Davis, who turns 37 on Oct. 31." Arlington Heights Daily Herald

For that to happen Chicago would have to agree to pay Darius at 6 mil plus per year, if that. Antonio Davis makes 13 mill plus this next year and there's no way that Darius' new contract plus KT's will even come close to that.AleksandarN said:I would do a sign and trade; with Darius and Kenny thomas going to the Bulls for Antonio Davis. That way we can get rid of Kenny's contract and improve the defense at the same time. This I think will out weigh any draft picks that we would get.

Folsom Al said:Gonna miss Darius .... Boston didn't know what they were trading away when we got him. I enjoyed watching Darius the entire time he spent here. We always knew what we were going to get whenever he went in.
Does what's asked of him .... dependable ... hard-nosed player ..... great in that commercial with the popcorn guy ...
Good Luck Darius .... I'm sure you'll do just fine
PFFFT!! said:Kinda frustrating but were essentially doing what Boston did, give away a good player for a 2nd round pick???? Only this time, the player pans out to be good....PPFFFFFTT!!! Come on. The trade exception would be best IMHO.
nbrans said:My understanding is that if the Kings are getting a pick out of this deal it means they'd have to get a trade exception as well in order for the deal to work. The Bulls can't just send a pick the Kings way for signing Songaila, it would have to be a S&T. If a S&T happens that involves a pick, a trade exception would have to be involved as well.
I don't think that GP wants any players in return for Darius. They are already over the cap and don't want to go over anymore. Also, Chicago wants to trade players not picks. They have talked openly about shopping Piatkowski and they could even re-sign Adrian Griffin and then ship him out.KINGS16 said:Yah! we can work that out with Toronto. Toronto gets a 2nd round draft pick and we pick up Aaron or Eric Williams from them. They have to give up players coz they have a 17 man roster.
That's not true. Darius can only sign an offer sheet with the Bulls, which in and of itself does not make him a Bull. The Kings would then have 7 days to match or better the offer. If Darius signed the offer sheet today, GP could match or better the offer and then turn right around and trade him.PFFFT!! said:If nothing happens until next week, consider that Petrie is working things out. If Darius gets signed today, then Petrie didn't do anything.
