Ric Bucher-Songaila rumor (merged)

From yesterdays Evans article, it doesn't sound like he's done.

I think it's just you. ;)

I don't think that GP wants any players in return for Darius. They are already over the cap and don't want to go over anymore. Also, Chicago wants to trade players not picks. They have talked openly about shopping Piatkowski and they could even re-sign Adrian Griffin and then ship him out.

That'd be great if we got Griffin.

Darn it,

I was really hoping for at least one more move to be done this off season. I especially wanted to see one of the Philadelphia 3 go. But it looks like Petrie is done this summer.

Is it just me or does someone else seem to think that Petrie is losing intrest in the Kings?
Not me, he pulled up darn good deal only MLE in his pocket this offseason. You never know what's around the corner.

Yeah, it's just pretty unheard of for a GM to sit back and relax when there's two months left in the off-season.

Especially with what he said yesterday.

Oh yeah, I am leaning towards the fact that Darius is walking. I don't see a 3 team deal for Darius, and the Kings want no salary in return, so....Petrie is going to let the dust collect on that offer.

I have a feeling that if the Bulls offer Songaila a contract starting 2.2M, that Petrie WILL match. It makes good business sense. The Kings keep an undervalued contract that can become a tradeable asset in the near future.

Petrie wouldn't do that to Darius. He has already made it clear that he will help Darius in any way he can to find the best situation for him.

Latest on Songaila/Bulls:

Before re-signing either of their own free agents, the Bulls are expected to sign restricted free agent Darius Songaila, a 6-9 forward, to an offer sheet.

The Sacramento Kings would have the right to match any offer, but reports out of Sacramento say that is unlikely. The Kings might be interested, however, in working out a sign-and-trade deal with the Bulls if they can get a draft pick.

''We're talking about things,'' said Mark Bartelstein, Songaila's agent. ''Things are complicated because he is restricted.''

Songaila, 27, was a second-round pick of the Boston Celtics in 2002 out of Wake Forest. He had a two-day visit with the Bulls last week and reportedly started looking at real estate. He averaged 7.5 points and 4.2 rebounds in 20.6 minutes for the Kings last season, and the maximum the Bulls could offer is a deal starting at $2.2 million. ''We had a great visit with him,'' Paxson said. ''He's a hard-playing guy whose best days are ahead of him. He would fit right in with the character of our team.''

As I said a few days ago, I wouldn't mind us getting a draft pick for him or plus more. I was looking through guys projected for it in the 2nd round and late 1st round, and there's some good players.

the longer this goes with chicago not making a formal contract offer sheet to songaila, the better for the kings... the delay is probably because chicago is really trying hard to make a three team deal so the kings can get a draft pick for songaila... makes sense for both sides, because a three way also makes sure the kings won't match and clears some salary for the bulls...

let's keep our fingers crossed that the kings get a draft pick(s) for losing songaila to the bulls...

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we don't lose Darius!! I'm getting tired of getting attached to players and then poof they are gone. In the old days teams stayed more consistent and learned to get more competitive. After all, there is only one team each year that can be champion. I personally prefer to tune into the regular season play more than the playoffs. I know it isn't a popular opinion but I think Darius makes a better contribution to the team than KT.
