Holmes just played a game where he was back in rhythm. Why not at least see if he can string some good games together, instead of deciding to not play him in the next two? He wouldn't have played tonight, had Metu not gone down.
It just has to be he's in trade talks. I'm not sure how much worse the back-up C slot can get, he gave us by FAR the best individual game performance of the season vs the Lakers of any of the back-up options and just hasn't been in the rotation since. These past 2 games would have been by far the best opportunity to try and rework him in the rotation if we thought there was any future, but we passed.

I hate back to back home games.

They shouldn’t have lost to this crap team minus their 2 best players regardless, but, still, I don’t believe they lose this game up 21 with proper rest.

This was a schedule loss.
Funny thing is Philly sat out their star players like it was a schedule loss for them. Rivers was essentially doing Brown a favor. They were already 4-0 on their road trip, sitting pretty in their conference, and had the luxury of having their young PG get some run leading a team on his own. Imagine if we sat Fox and Sabonis on a road trip.

Can we please give TD some minutes? He might truly be our only 2-way player on the team. Mike Brown's dog house might be the only frustrating thing I have about his coaching this year.

The guy is a 3&D player who can slot into the guard/wing position. He needs some minutes somewhere.
The "D" part is only true some of the time. He's been rather bad defensively this year

Good gut-check reminder that hey, we're not a 50+ win team that's ready to go compete for a title. Still a real learning curve this team has to go through and still some real holes that need to be filled on the bench.

Domas 38 minutes tonight, 38 last night
Barnes 38 minutes tonight, 39 last night
Keegan 41 minutes tonight, 37 last night
Huerter 30 minutes tonight, 35 last night
Fox 38 minutes tonight, 38 last night

Coach doesn't trust the bench anymore. Not sure when this exactly flipped, but he's kind of reverted back to old Mike Brown rotations where he really ran his top 8 guys into the ground, and not the 10 man rotation that GSW was famous for using.
This didn't have the look of a tired loss at all. Early in the 2nd half Doc changed up his defense and gave the basket area to the Kings but played a tight perimeter scheme. The Kings are an offense first team, offense first teams can't score 22 points in the third because the Kings want to play pretty ball.

"We" didn't pass. Brown did

Maybe the Metu injury rattled everyone, I dunno. I thought they looked incredibly crisp on both ends for a good chunk of the 1st half and then that 1:15 stretch basically through the end of the game was just pure slop, looked tired, didn't play with the usual energy on either end

It might have done something. It was the third though. The Sixers started to send doubles at Domas and eventually they realized he wasn't going to pound them so they just played everything straight up.

Did the Kings miss all 7 of their free throws in the second half? I had a feeling the 4 consecutive missed free throws by Domas and Lyles when the Kings had their last lead would be the end of the Kings one way or the other. At the time it appeared Philly would just run away with the game

Kings played like their game plan was to only play a half. They thought they landed the KO when they built the lead back up to 21 when Philly originally cut it in half. When Philly kept playing the Kings didn’t have the energy to respond

The bench was trash and we might’ve just lost our only proven to be decent front court rotation with Metu’s injury. Hope it’s not as bad as it seems but the Kings need to start making some moves very soon.

I’m officially worried about Monk. He’s been lousy for awhile now. Atleast we may have another month of great basketball to look forward to for the stretch run. That may prove useful but he’s definitely not as reliable as it initially appeared he would be.

Kings statistically got destroyed in this game. It’s no surprise they lost. The 21 point lead was an aberration from hot shooting. Philly was scoring at will from the jump.

still the worst loss of the season. Kings dropped a punt tonight

It's not even our worst loss of the month.

I wish Domas would be more aggressive at looking for his shots more. He is too passive at times. He needs to take more shots for someone who shoots 61%.. he is an all star caliber player averaging only 11 shots.

I would disagree. At least he can pressure the defense a bit. He averages 0.8stls in 13mpg.

Just to give you an idea of how good that is, here's the rest of our steal leaders:
Huerter: 1.1stls - 31.2mpg
Fox: 0.9stls - 33.4mpg
Murray: 0.8stls - 29mpg

I don't think he's been bad by any means.

Like with Keegan though, do you risk trying to change him up? Or look to reinforce him? I vote reinforce if Monte can in some way. Or Brown of course. Keegan has an entire "3rd level" of his game going mostly unused this year.

I think I’m gonna pretend Embiid and Harden played tonight and both went off and just move on. o_O If we get one the next two games it will be a solid homestand.
Sixers are deep talented and (despite legit knocks on Doc’s resume) are well coached. They’re 10-6 without Harden this year and 8-4 without Embiid. None of the guys who went off on us are scrubs. And depth is a huge difference between contenders and playoff teams, Sixers still being deeper than us with their top 2 guys out is case in point. There was a time in Sac we had that kind of depth too. But Sixers have had absurd depth for years so I don’t get the panic over this game

The Kings could have won this if they were out for blood. That's the next step. A fully healthy Sixers, yeah, the Kings might need that extra piece to really go anywhere but this was a decent test after all. And a bit of a come back to earth moment.

Yep, Doc is usually a stellar regular season coach who generally thrives in these "no star" situations (see the Clippers taking the 8th seed from us in the Scores year despite their best player (Tobias Harris) being traded in the middle of the year).

For keegan he's a rookie still on a learning curve so we aren't really expecting anything too drastic. For Sabonis I wonder if he'll ever have it in him to average in the early 20's in points. He has only averaged 20 points in 1 season during his career so far.
