You can’t blame the refs at all lol. They were not a factor in the Kings losing.

The lack of defense was disgusting
This was all them, whether they ran out of gas or let Metu's injury bring them down or forgot how to play basketball. There was simply no excuse for blowing the lead they had against a team without their stars.

Granted teams like the Sixers tonight basically have nothing to lose and you can't really gameplan them. But this is exactly the type of game that the best teams feast on and we've continually lost those games right now (recent Charlotte, Wash as other examples)

It was close but there was probably no reason not to challenge. That non quick foul blunder under 10 seconds killed the extra possession at the very end anyway.
It looked like they fouled them a little earlier than the one that was called but with the way refs are in the 4th quarter, you've really gotta foul hard to make sure the refs notice.

Another alpha isn't the problem. The defensive inconsistency is the problem.

Also pretty clear the workload got to Sabonis tonight. Monte needs to go find a 15+ MPG backup asap. Can't keep running Sabonis into the ground and just expect triple doubles every game
It is but you could see early on in the 2nd half that the Sixers were going to let Domas feast if he wanted to and he didn't. That was where the gap in the defense was and he kept looking for his teammates. It's just who he is. He hasn't had a ton of playoff games but from the ones I did see him in it was kind of similar as well. Time to start planning ahead.

Other than Monk and Mitchell almost every player for both teams had an efficient night. Monk had some nice plays but we got basically 0 useful bench minutes. Domas looked good to me and I don’t know how you can be upset with a triple double on 7/10 from the field. Kevin Huerter continuing to play up to his full 6’7” while shooting well and not being Buddy Hield continues to be great

idk what kind of assets we have to shore up the bench with the conditional pick to Atlanta and not many enticing pieces on the roster. I also still don’t understand why Queta isn’t getting time with how terrible our bench has been lately (Holmes resurgence being nice but not nearly enough)

I also thought Brown made a mistake pulling Holmes. He was actually playing well and it was clear Domas didnt have it. I understand the logic but I would have rolled with Holmes for a bit longer
it's a hard call though.. sabonis is your star who has been reliable for just about every game.

Part of the issue also is our defensive stoppers are liabilities on offense. Davion only got 11 mins tonight. Brown should play him more, but his shot is so bad right now he couldn’t when we got behind. Okpala made a nice defensive play at the end of the 1st half only to make a terrible pass… which then led to the 3 at the buzzer.

Offensive boards and second chance points killed us. Also, Philly plays really physical and just bullied their way to the basket. I don't think our guards did a bad job of staying in front of Maxey, Milton, and Melton but they're just really good at using screens to isolate the defending big and with Metu out we just didn't have any bigs who could adequately defend their guards off the pick and roll.

How? Even the coach has literally come out and talked about how *** the backup C position has been this year. That said, there has to be a reason the Lakers didn't sign Cuz. They also have almost no reason not to.
Holmes just played a game where he was back in rhythm. Why not at least see if he can string some good games together, instead of deciding to not play him in the next two? He wouldn't have played tonight, had Metu not gone down.

Good gut-check reminder that hey, we're not a 50+ win team that's ready to go compete for a title. Still a real learning curve this team has to go through and still some real holes that need to be filled on the bench.

Domas 38 minutes tonight, 38 last night
Barnes 38 minutes tonight, 39 last night
Keegan 41 minutes tonight, 37 last night
Huerter 30 minutes tonight, 35 last night
Fox 38 minutes tonight, 38 last night

Coach doesn't trust the bench anymore. Not sure when this exactly flipped, but he's kind of reverted back to old Mike Brown rotations where he really ran his top 8 guys into the ground, and not the 10 man rotation that GSW was famous for using.

We have a backup C.....Holmes, who is getting paid on a pretty big contract. It makes sense to play him with the hopes there might be a taker down the road, plus he's had a few games here where he looked decent.
Holmes plays a different game. Sometimes it works. He's also someone I think everybody agrees we'd be best moving on from. In the interim, we may have an emergency roster opening for the C spot. Nobody on the team had really stepped up and claimed the spot until the Metu/Lyles pairing about two weeks ago. Not for nothing Lyles was also completely useless tonight once Metu left the game.

Can we please give TD some minutes? He might truly be our only 2-way player on the team. Mike Brown's dog house might be the only frustrating thing I have about his coaching this year.

The guy is a 3&D player who can slot into the guard/wing position. He needs some minutes somewhere.

Somehow Domas got credited w/a 10th board. Was he given an offensive rebound on that final flail?

A lil hometown cooking for the Kings' best player?
If he got his hand on it, that's an offensive board. He was being leaned on pretty heavily there -- kindof a weird no call with guys falling all over each other like that but they'd been allowing all sorts of contact all game so it wasn't unexpected. All HB had to do there was hit all 3 FTs. Tough break but there's so many plays you can point to before that where our guys got lazy and gave them free points and we did get a lot of calls in our favor too so I'm not mad at the officials after this one. The Sixers played a good game and we let them push us around without consequences. On to the next one.
