It is starting to look a little too ball-heavy.

I don't want to trade Deebo or Zach though, but would be open to dealing Malik if the right deal came along in the offseason, reason being we have Keon (and an increasingly competent looking Carter) waiting in the wings.

Hypothetical: would you trade Malik straight up for a first round draft pick say in the 10-20 range? I think I might if I felt good about a prospect that we had an eye on.

Either that, or convince DeRozan to be a super sub. I could see that working (if he agreed).
Malik is the heart and soul of the team….I think Deebo is the obvious odd man out. Yes he has won a number of games for us this year. I’ve gotten super excited when he just gets unstoppable…but his style of game just kills us more often than not. I think Monk/Ellis/Lavine can work ok.

In hopes of getting this season back on track, and ending on a high note, I am, hereby, handing the reigns back to @Mr. S£im Citrus and/or @Tetsujin for the remainder of the season when it comes to starting the game threads...

Not necessarily because I want to, but because I have come to accept that maybe I am starting to bring the team some bad juju...:):):)

Fans preferring LaVine over DeRozan is wild to me.

I just can't believe that trading for Kuzma was the best potential move all along. I can't stand Kuzma, and I'd trade LaVine for him in a heartbeat if it was possible. (On a personal level, hope everything is okay with Zach though)

Why? Every conceivable stat out there shows that LaVine is an above average player while Kuzma has been dreadful the last two years. Even with Milwaukee the guy is basically unplayable according to the metrics.

Lavine is an elite shooter, can space the floor, and is somehow a better defender. Derozan is elite scorer but the ball won’t move and offense can get stagnant lets not forget he’s 35 there’s no future here unless he’s on PED’s like lebron and can play 3-4 more years

Wish we could get a bigger wing to start next to monk/Lavine ellis is small and can get bullied a a lot of teams. A guy like Cam Johnson would be good at SF next to Lavine/Monk/Keegan

14-6, 29% from 3 and a 51% TS from Kuzma in a Bucks uni. That's the dude you want?

Watching Doug get so frustrated at LaVine last night for not pressuring Tre Jones walking the dog late in the fourth last night and then benching him right after that made me think that it would be the about equal with Kuzma, but Kuzma makes about half as much as LaVine and could be brought off the bench. That's my reasoning (but maybe not so great reasoning)

All fair points, I think I like DeRozans IQ more but they are both frustrating players so I guess I shouldnt be surprised people prefer LaVine more.

I hated getting Zach for Fox in the immediate aftermath of the trade. Then he had a string of good games, and I ate some crow after his 40 piece.

But there's a lot of games where I'm back to hating the trade. That's the player Zach is, if he's not putting up 30+ on good percentages, he's a negative out there with his completely lackadaisical defense. It doesnt help that he's had several games recently of being extremely passive on offense as well. Like, WTF are you getting paid zillions for, dude?

Then we have Deebo who is also a negative if he's not giving you 30+ on good percentages, as he's also horrible defender, and kills offensive flow to boot with his ISO game.

I would love to move on from both the ex Bulls guys this offseason, but I doubt it happens. Zach especially is likely a "Vivek guy" considering the franchise has been after him since before Monte got here.

That’s fair. I can relate, seems every time I weigh in or watch games real time things quickly go to crap.
Still, thanks for your service.

Why was Jonas stuck on the bench almost the entire second half, then? He only played 15 minutes total. Having a giant in the paint tends to discourage layups. I could not figure out why the Kings had no center on the court.

Good question, but Jonas has been playing drop on pick and roll lately and teams are literally sometimes sending two guys now apparently to pin players guarding on the ball, lol. That said, I don't know why the Kings aren't going to the paint more with him. Especially in a zone, the Kings have multiple ways of attacking a zone. High middle pick and roll or side post is workable and fits this current iteration of the rotation.

The Bulls tried to trade Zach for years and couldn’t given his contract. He is owed $47,499,660 and is the 4th highest paid shooting guard in the league. The Bulls were fortunate Monte was willing to give them Huerter and a pick.

Our only hope of dumping Zach is leaving him unprotected in an expansion draft.

As Amick said it is hard to believe the Kings saw it not work in Chicago for years and said gee let’s do that!

Do you think this was really McNair's idea and ultimate decision, or did Vivek push for it with Vlade likely in his ear?

Either way it’s a bad look for Monte….

If Vivek pushes it then that means Monte has lost his confidence and ability to influence the correct decision

If Monte made it then it reflects poorly on his decision making ability.

I get Rudy Gay vibes from Zach. Way too laid back and just kind of a "too cool to play hard" type of attitude. Not bad to have as a friend perhaps but as a individual that gets paid $40 plus million a season and presumably your second best player, yikes. It's no coincidence that he's never been in the Playoffs.
