Patience, my friend. The greatest show on court went through several seasons of Tarik Abdul-Wahad and Burnt Toast Nick Anderson at shooting guard before finally getting Doug Christie.

When I think of Anderson, I imagine him to this day in his back yard trying to hit a free throw. He got the yips in the worst way. Brutal.

I digress.

JJ’s defense is here to stay, BTW. Kid evolved after playing as good D he did against the best offensive player in the game.

I feel WCS is worth it up to about 15 million, though I'd prefer not to go beyond 3 years at that price. He's not our long term starter but he is a nice complement to what we do have.

I hope someone doesn't overpay him and force our hand. You just never know what's going to happen, I imagine some teams know the other club will match no matter what so go in no fear almost daring the team to do it (surely we've done this). Are we going to exercise restraint when it happens to us?

Bagley and Giles off the bench when both are playing fairly well give a big kick to the team. There have been at least 10 games or so where the bench in general rescues poor starting unit execution. These haven't all necessarily resulted in wins, but pull the Kings back into competing. I think the bench on the whole may play better defense than the starting unit at this point.

Everyone trashing on WCS (which I do semi-regularly), but Shumpert and Bjelica's play has been far more concerning lately. Shumpert's been straight up awful and I forget Bjelica even exists sometimes.

Totally agree man. It's easy to hate on Willie until he's starts getting hot, but I think he just needs time to focus and grt his groove. My man smooth and his presence makes a difference.

Maybe. But watch Nurkic take 2 steps back when Willie catches the ball anywhere but on the block.

For sure. I counted the first four plays at least of any sequence starting with Willie up top with the ball and all of them netted zero points. It will be interesting to see what they run to start the third.

I think it’s because the expectations are so much higher. Shump’s the formerly all but cast aside leader who’s won us over with his vet charm, and Bjeli is what he is.

WCS comes in talking his big game and money, then goes on to play how he does sometimes. We expect more from him.

Shump has come back down to Earth as has Bjelica. Bjelica will wow you with the occasional three point barrage but those seem like a long time ago.

ok, subbing from defending WCS to defending Bjelica :).

You should be reminded of Bjelica when you see the space Fox/WCS operate in, when he makes good defensive rotations (you have to pay attention) and when he rebounds at almost the exact rate as Bagley! :)

Shump and Bjelica aren't bargain priced players playing for a long term $$$$ contract this season either.

Also their mere presence on the floor means more spacing. Willie doesn't help that unless he's willing to start making teams pay for leaving him. What happened to the big guy who would change the center position with his shooting? We've seen the videos of him knocking down threes.

Wahad wasn't horrible but I think playing next to three amazing passers made him look better than he actually was. Nick Anderson couldn't even do that much.

Wahad played decent defense and was very athletic. If I remember right, he blcoked a young Kobe Bryant fadeaway at one point. His offense and shooting were inconsistent though. Anderson was a train wreck. He had played better in Orlando before he came to the Kings, but then regressed.
