This team without Fox is a jump shooting team. Nobody on the roster can get to the rim. Grant is a moron for constantly saying "drive to the basket!". They are incapable.
Most importantly that's not really what Walton is having them run full on even with him. Again, if there is space he's having bodies move into it rather than creating lanes to drive into. Without Fox it's not a horrible option I guess, but with him you cut off 90% of his game.

What happened that Fox played for only two minutes? did he get injured in the first quarter?
He got injured in the first two minutes. Came down wrong and apparently pulled a back muscle or something. The team said he was not coming back because of back spasms.

Walton's offensive schemes would work fine if a couple of shooters (***cough***Hield, Bogs***cough***) could hit the side of a freaking barn once in a while.
But Barnes has sucked too. And he hasn't played Yogi for some help offensively despite Fox going out. So most of the offensive weapons are struggling and/or not being used correctly. At some point the coach has to find a way to make things work with the team he has instead of not making any adjustments.

That's a fair assessment - as far as it goes. But one thing we cannot ignore is the injury factor. Luke finally gets Fox and Bagley back and they're gone again? We never seem to know from night to night if Bogs is gonna play or not. That cannot be easy to work around...

That is why I couldn’t understand why Walton didn’t put Bjeli back in when the Kings couldn’t buy a bucket.

It’s very frustrating watching Bogdan keep launching misses and Bjeli sitting on the bench without even a glance from coach.
Uncool hand luke has had some questionable lineups. No pg to close the game. Letting buddy handle.

Dedmon already disinterested. Haven't seen Giles in who-knows-how-long. Super short leash with Yogi. Unwilling to play JJ when bogi and buddy are playing like crap. JJ played .5 s. Not letting Guy play. Ever. Overworking the same guys in overtime. The list goes on. If the offense had some cohesion I wouldn't complain.

Ariza played great defense and Barnes was hustling. Holmes was great as usual, but we need a ball handler to close out close games. Cojo plays solid D but, when he gets places on the floor he doesn't know what to do when he's there. He really isn't a threat around the rim and is not a great passer.

As just said Fox is the only one that can dribble penetrate (and is a threat).

Just another sad excuse of a game with us pushing blame and excuses around in disgust.

Concur. Walton’s not the problem. This is basketball. It’s not football where coaching defines schemes, strategy, gap assignments to the nth degree. In basketball, you run whatever offense, but ultimately one of your better players has to make a play. The end. You can’t scheme your way around horrendous shooting. Unless you dump it into the post, but my cursory review of the league indicates post play is now illegal. Correct me if I’m wrong.

That is the most frustrating part is that these guys just dribbled the shot clocks down to like 3 seconds and then throw up a 3 pointer. Nothing was going in, but they kept jacking up the long jumpers.

How about running a play and getting an easy bucket at the basket? This team has extremely low basketball IQ.

The product is spoiled.....who wants to watch awful half-court

Exactly, and you could see this a little bit earlier before the losing streak....Walton has his rotations and will go down with the ship with them.....need more daring and imagination. Bring in James and Giles - let em get their feet wet and develop some. Your 1st stringers are SUCKING IT.

Do I even want to know what he said?
probably not lol.

he insinuated there are trust issues on the team, but seemed like he was.mainly upset he was benched in the fourth and most of 1ot and that he wasn't trusted to be out there

was asked if he thought he could do anything differently to stay on the court, like defense, and he said everyone gets scored on so that shouldn't be a reason why he's not out there to help win the game at the end of regulation.

he did say he's a team first guy though ....

He pushed Ariza out defensively a few games ago, then a guy cut backdoor. Ariza looked annoyed as hell.

Tonight Ariza in overtime was surrounded by the other guys on the floor, looked like he was trying to motivate and tell people what they needed to do.

I wouldn't be surprised if the veteran is trying to get the guys to hang in there before it is too late.

He’s a 6th man. Fortunately, the analytics based teams will still overpay for him by concluding he’s just not getting the “right” shots this year.

Oh good grief. This is similar to him taking his contract woes public in hopes of garnering sympathy IMHO. He was benched because he was playing like a third string freshman on a jv team. How many times is Walton supposed to leave him in with the hopes that he'll find a way to contribute? Hield signed an outrageous contract and has done nothing to show he's worth it. Saying "everyone gets scored on" isn't a very smart thing to say. Richaud Holmes is out there playing his heart out for a helluva lot less money than Hield.

Help win the game? Not with what I've seen lately.
