[Game] Kings @ Grizzlies, 1/3 @5pm

Westphals post game was straight up disgusting to me. He was asked why he thought Jimmer and Isiah was a good idea in the fourth. "I thought they break open a few steals and hit some threes to get us back in the game, and if they did we had our starters ready, if they didn't we had our starters rested". GIVE ME A BREAK. You don't get back into a game by playing 2 rookies, a guy who never sees playing time in Garcia, a guy with no BB IQ in thompson, and a extremely disgruntled Cousins. He GAVE UP! That wasn't an attempt to get back in it. He also claims that Fredette and Thomas won't see the floor much together because they are small... I SEE IT EVERY GAME!!! He knows they can't defend together, but he uses it as a "catch up tactic"! Then he has the audacity to say we played hard, just not sharp. We played hard for about 12 of the 48 minutes... by default that is playing hard in Westphals eyes. Most coaches would be cracking the whip in anger after a game like that. Unbelievable.

When people start off their response with "hahahahahaha" it's usually a sign they're running short on things to say. Just sayin'.

But anyway...

I have to simply disagree with you on Jimmer's defense, I guess. Again - I'm not saying he's a good defender. But this "Jimmer is killing us on defense" argument you are making is - again - based off of sheep mentality. You've heard others say it, so you're just repeating it. Other posters on this board have done play-by-play analysis on our defense which have shown that Jimmer's defense has not been much worse than the rest of the team's... you can either base your opinions off of fact, or off of popular opinion - which is it gonna be? You're seeing something that isn't there right now.

Here's a question: Do you think Jimmer's play has been as detrimental to our defense as Reke's play has been to our offense? I think you know the answer. Whether or not you can admit it is another thing. Regardless, you know the answer.

I'd like to see IT + Jimmer run this offense just for one game and see what happens. The LAST time it happened was against the Lakers - arguably the best team we've played so far - and we won. Probably a coincidence.
Jeez. Read my words and then tell me I'm wrong. You are making an argument against thin air.

I never said Jimmer is killing us on defense. I never said Jimmers defense is the reason we are losing. I just said that his defense is pretty bad. Terrible. It sucks. Worst perimeter defender on the team.

Jimmers defense has not cost us one game this season. That doesn't make it good or even average. Just because it hasn't cost us anything yet doesn't mean I can't say its bad, because it is.

The notion that I get my ideas from places other then what my own eyes see is also false, but hey, you have showed me that you are excellent at making assumptions and arguing against points I didn't make, so what should I expect?

@Kings Faithful, his post game interviews have always been hilarious. There were a few of us here who enjoyed them more than the games last season. Most of the time they make no sense at all and he always seems like he is about to explode on the reporters.

Sigh, before this year I had never used my ignore list. The Jimmer homers have left me no choice.
Jwill and teachmehowtojimmer are obviously trolling.

If you have a problem with my posts, I guess that's your choice. I'm only using facts and logic, while at the same time avoiding personal insults (unlike some here).

I usually watch them but Dish has been cutting them off for some reason. His eyes were watered up like he was about to cry.

we need a coach to define roles and give guys consistent minutes. This is embarrassing. Im not trolling, but have watched quite a few other teams this year and I think we are clearly the most poorly coached.

What would happen if we went to more zone defense - a lot more depending on matchup? Atlanta is employing their suprisingly stiffling zone D quite a bit so far this season with big-time early success. Dallas played a lot of zone last season, carrying it all the way into playoffs and eventual championship. Kings are so small and gambling too much on their horrible man-to-man D - why not ZONE UP?!

We used it a lot more last year. Don't know if the change this season is because we don't have shotblocking back there or not. Certainly seems like a thoguht for a team which only has 3 guys who even look like they might be good defenders on paper (Hayes, Reke, Salmons) and has rarely even gotten that.

Nope, no problem with your posts. I want to see Jimmer starting myself, if the team is switching and the help defense is active I think it would help us a lot. I don't think our defense is there though so it would be interesting to see how it turns out.

I don't trust our guys enough to stick to their zone. I can just picture them running out and giving the other team even more wide open jumpers/layups. My guess would be it would look the same as when these teams abuse the pick and roll vs us.

I hatge to break it to peopel that aside from hitting threes on kickouts he didn;t do anythign again until late in the garbagetime.

Maybe we should start Thomas. At least he was dynamic. ;)

Same here. However, if Jimmer sucks it up and plays selfishly, I'll be the first person saying he should be on the bench.

The defense sucks right now, but I think a lot of that is a reflection of poor offense, and not vice versa (although it varies form team to team)

"I didn't watch the game, but I DID look at the stats line!"

That or you just don't appreciate guards who don't turn the ball over and only take good shots.

Btw, against the Grizzlies - the entire game is garbage time.

Which would be a stupid reason because you play zone to make up for that lack. Also, this team rarely played zone when Cousins and Daly were out there together because they just simply didn't have the foot speed to do it.

Indeed, guards who miss every single shot they take on their own, are 2-8 while the game is still on, are hit by others for 3 spot up threes, then finally add a 4th off a big pick. Meanwhile they have ballahandling misadventures, are awful on defnse in the first half, and generally looking overmatched.

Looked much steadier in the garbagetime, but there is a reason why it is thus called. He really hasn't consistently created anything for either himself or others since the first game I think it was. The boxscore watchers are the one thinking this was some breakthrough for Jimmer as far as running the team out there. He is stil feeling his way.

Fortunately since he is a rookie this is par for the course and not a disaster.

Hickson was a big problem out there actually. His defense and rebounding is horrible. He gets board simply by out-jumping others, but he gives up as many as he gets by not boxing out. Considering that rebounding and interior D were the reasons the Grizz were able to put points, Hickson's stats are pretty empty.
Only caught half on TV so I went by the stats.

Anybody catch the LP feed with the Grizz announcers? The color commentater( Is that Micheal Orr's dad? or that the color on Radio?) didn't understand what the Kings are doing with their offense And kept on talking about Boogie and Reke. How Cousins looks like hes quit. I didn't catch all of it though.

Hall of Famer
Reke and Thornton won the NO game for us in the 2nd half. Tonight they didn't play in the final 15 mins, while we were in striking distance. Inexcusable.
