Jack seems like a real team guy, who also has a good relationship with Malone. He might be one of the only guys we could bring in, who IT would be Ok with moving back to the 6th man role for us. Could be a good 'chimistry' move

That is absolutely true and certainly could be part of the thinking behind such a move if it is being considered.

The unfortunate part is that if such a deal went down for that reason it would only start to confirm my fears with D'Allessandro - namely that he's a shrewd capologist who doesn't have an eye for talent or the vision to build a winning team.

A PG platoon of a re-signed Isaiah Thomas and Jarrett Jack isn't taking this team where it needs to go and is also likely eating up $13 million or so of caproom for the next two years.

I'm not expressly against trading for Jack as a deal for Landry cuts off a year of wasted money and gives a more useful player in his stead. But trading Thornton (or Williams) for him does neither. A package of Jimmer and Outlaw is even worse as it takes two small and soon ending contracts for a guy signed for two more seasons past this one. And trading JT for him gives the Kings a backup PG who is neither a defender nor a distributor in exchange for our current starting PF who could be very useful on a good team as a the first big off the bench swinging between PF & C. I just don't like the idea of trading anyone other than Landry for Jack.

And I'd love to see the Kings resign IT. If it was for a sixth man role for sixth man money. But trading for Jack as the backup in part to open up caproom to resign IT just strikes me as a perfectly terrible idea.

I was okay with Vasquez starting over Thomas even though he was an inferior talent because he brought a very different mindset and offensive approach as a true distributor. I don't view Jack as a guy that will run the offesnse any better than Thomas.

In fact, we should make a trade for him. I'd give up D-Will for him. He's going to be an all-star. He's improved tremendously this year and can keep going cause of his brilliant vision he'll get playing time for sure.
I hope our FO is looking into him.
As for lottery, we have plenty of options and a lot of these guys have HOF potential.

I like this move. For us. Our SG position is hurting other than BMac, we'd have a lot of under sized 2's

Not bad. Dumps Thornton's salary. Terry plays bench gunner. McLemore or Jimmer starts at 2 (don't care which, really). Evans has another year after this one, but he is only making 2 million.

Hmm. Straight up that would save a bit of money (only about $1M next year) and get us another rebounder-banger down low. But Evans is about to turn 34, so I'm not sure how much he has left. Is that rearranging deck chairs? Or is Evans enough to make it worthwhile?

Terry is done. Evans can still bring Acy-like production. Meh deal. Would I do it? Yea, I guess so, but it's nothing to get excited about. Doesn't move the scale in any direction, really.

I'd rather explore something for Jack and the Cavs.

Maybe Terry can work with BMAC if he is indeed traded to the Kings. Bringing in some NBA vets to help teach these kids a thing or two might be helpful. I really hope we do not get Jack and his crappy contract. Need defense on this team and Jack just makes it worse.

I'd much rather have Jack added to his roster than Landry. I also believe that Jack would run an offense and get other guys "going" much more than IT. He wouldn't take the last shot of every single quarter either, which is a bonus

Terry was obviously in Boston last season, the guy is old and terrible. The funny part is Terry believes he is a lot better then he is, he got Celtics tattoo on his arm before he even played a game for us. Terry is owed 5.4 million next year

the problem with the Terry/Evans report is that a) it leaves us with only a terrible rookie at SG, and b) it doensn;t actually save us any money, as Terry and Evans are both signed through next year at similar combined numbers to Thornton. Maybe we figure they will be more moveable pieces than the one big Thornton lump this summer.

Alternately all this chatter might mean that we intend to do all of the deals and trade IT, Ben, 2 pcks, Thornton and Jimmer -- in other words our entire stinky backcourt -- for Rondo, Jack, Terry and Evans. Upgrade that even Rondo would have to respect.

He's an older version of Acy. No reason he would see more than 5-10 min/game which Acy could do just as well. And sadly, we'd rather have MT on the court than JET. Just don't see the logic as the best you could say is it breaks MT's contract into two smaller ones, which has marginal value.

Them going after Evans tells me that they are desperately trying to get JT and possibly Landry as well. If they can slice a little off of JT and Landry's deal that would be nice even if they don't get anything back. Time to get Jason "Don't call me Kenny" Thompson off the books asap.

Meh deal if there isnt anything else in the works. Not that MT isnt garbage mind you, but as has been mentioned, he expires soon.

IF this is part of us trying to get rid of Landry, then cool. But I think that dude is going to be with us for a while...I cant imagine very many GMs want a short, older PF who doesnt rebound, play defense, or pass the ball and is locked into a long term deal(well, besides PDA that is).

I'd rather we dont trade JT. He would be an excellent 3rd big (as opposed to a rather mediocre starter). He is one of our few valuable pieces though...Despite what some posters on here think. Just the kind of big playoff teams would love to add to their bench. JT being with us post deadline is probably 50/50. I can see him getting traded either as a throw in on a larger deal or in some kind of role player swap.

Given PDA's (admittedly short) track record, we're bound to do SOMETHING.

After this season Thornton is a free agent. Jack is on the hook for at least two more with a team option for a third.

Next year MT becomes a nice, big expiring contract. And while Jack has been played at the 2 at times, if there's even a moment where he and IT are the backcourt for the Kings I'll be incredibly disappointed in the FO. Jarett Jack isn't a building piece going forward so why deal for him and be on the hook for his salary? The Kings should be looking to trim fat, not add it.

Jack can be a nice bench piece on a good team at a lower salary number. That's just not the situation the Kings are in and I don't see any positives that he would bring.

And what happened to the Kings looking to add a traditional pass first PG?

If the Kings are indeed looking to trade for Jack, then its possible that there's another deal in the works to trade IT. Or, they might look at Jack as insurance against losing IT in free agency, if it comes to that. I look at Jack as a 6th man off the bench type player, the exact same way I look at IT. Highly possible the Kings also look at him that way. Despite Jack not having the same type of year this year, that he had with the Warriors last season, he's still shooting the ball better than Thornton, and at least he can play the point. He's had several seasons where he's averaged 5 or 6 assists a game. He's also the same height as Thornton, so he could fill in at the SG position as well, and he's a better defender than either IT or Thornton. Of course that's not saying much.

I like this. Terry (even though his stats are down this year) is an ageless wonder. I had been watching him pretty much his entire career and he's always been VERY consistent. Brooklyn isn't using him as much as they should, but he can easily put up 13ppg with us without breaking a sweat, even if he's 37-38 years old. He's the type of player that can play to 40-42 easy.
