That's the thing, it doesn't seem like he's a poor shooter anymore. It's really small sample size, but both long range and FT shooting look great. No doubt, he's overachieving, but it cannot be this much. We'll have more information come summer time anyway.

I actually wanted to draft Marshall. At that time I wasn't so sure he would fit with the team (but I still wanted him), but now I believe he would fit, and flourish.

I also would still love to get Chalmers. He's at about the right age, and years in the NBA that he can bring veteran leadership here. Not to mention the guy is a winner, albeit he's played with Wade and LeBron. Chalmers still gives the Heat some pretty damn good defense and he knows when to get out of the way. He's a "fitting in" kind of player which I think there aren't enough of in the NBA. Glorified role player I guess? He can be much more if given the chance imo.. This was another guy I wanted to draft. Late 1st round picks were going for cash that year, but the Maloofs were too stingy to take a chance. Same with Jordan. They could have bought a second round pick and drafted Deandre Jordan... Everyone and their mothers were talking about how those two dropped (Jordan more so) but most knew that they could be decent NBA players. Turns out they were both steals where they were drafted.

Well, Deandre Jordan only recently became truly impact defender. Considering, what they've done with development over here, not sure he would still be in Sacramento.

Boogie's development was despite the prior environment in Sac. Development of players under the new regime seems to be much better (but that was a low bar to cross). Time will tell going forward, but I'm hopeful.

I'm not surprised at what he's doing. In college he stepped into the starting PG role when North Carolina was underachieving and was the reason why they were able to turn their season around. I remember writing something a long the lines of "It would be a huge reach for the Kings to draft Marshall, but I'm going to be jealous of whatever team that does" in the draft thread that year. He has a lot of intangibles.

And It didn't surprise me that it took him this long. He's not a good practice / workout guy. If he isn't getting real game minutes it's almost impossible for him to standout to a coach or GM as a player who can help the team. He just never got an opportunity, until now.

And I don't know if I would target him as a free agent for this team, especially after his run in LA. As a minimum level free agent I was very interested, but now that he's going to have a bit of a price tag .. I don't know.

Massy is dead right about Marshall at N. Carolina. That team was dead in the water, and suddenly, after they started Marshall at PG, they became a contender for the NCAA championship. There's no doubt about his ability to create shots for others. That's his strength. His shooting in college was very inconsistent, and I guess it remains to be seen if its actually improved since then. But even in college, if he was set, he was a pretty good shooter. His defense is the usual suspect. Off the top of my head, I would say he would be better than Vasquez, but that's not saying much. I think he a little better athlete than Vasquez, and to be honest, I think his BBIQ is better as well, both defensively and offensively.

However, its one thing to try out a PG on a minimum contract, or a 10 day contract, than it is to sign him to a two or three year contract. To some degree, the Lakers have the best of both worlds with him. Its basically a free tryout. If it doesn't work out, no harm is done. That wouldn't be the case for any team that signs him in the off season. I'd still rather go after a pass first PG that can play both ends of the court. I have serious doubts that Marshall can.

For what it's worth, Lakers board on Realgm is absolutely positive that he will lose most of his minutes, once Blake and Farmar return - the argument is that these two produced similar numbers pace and minutes adjusted, but with better defense, so maybe he will still be available for minimum in the summer, though even then Marshall will likely look for the best opportunity, and Kings with expected push for PO need a sure presence at PG, not a tryout.

That's based off of the exact same tweet as the other one. So it's not really a new "rumor" or "confirmation" or anything like that.

Just a side note: but I believe today/tomorrow is the day the retrade restriction is lifted from Derrick WIlliams, a $5mil contract to a young talented guy squished a bit by new vets popping up (Gay + Landry). If we were going to make any big splashy move, a major asset might have just become available.

I think a package of Thornton and Williams could get us something, I like Williams but he is a guy that needs major minutes for development. He's great for highlights, but there are other parts of his game that make me scratch my head. I certainly don't mind keeping him and using him as a bench player, but by no means do I see him as a keeper.

Williams is getting major minutes and has been since he got here - finally for his very young NBA career. He's only 22, second youngest on Kings to BMac, soon turning 21. DWill is important part of Kings right now (off the bench) and will be more needed in future, especially if Rudy Gay ops out at end of this season (unlikely) or departs after next season (more likely than former). Thornton is whole different story and I never wanted him way Petrie seemed to be totally enamored. But maybe you're right. Only way to rid ones self of MT is to give up DWill. I'd really hate to do it at this stage of his young finally showing promise career. Need to have nice piece in return and not just salary dump for making DWill expendable.

IT's contract is too small, but when you combine both IT and Williams you suddenly have a lot of potential talent with a very nice price tag. You then throw in Thornton as the piece to really jump up the package price to take on the larger contracts for other team's impact players. More than likely, if we see a big trade we'll see all three of these guys moved at the same time. If a move is made to just bring in a 10 million dollar guy, then Outlaw would be the guy paired with Dwill and IT to make it happen. But I'd expect any package where IT is moved to also include DWill because that combination is a good package that a lot of teams would be interested in.

Well, there is an outside chance that the Heat blow up the roster in the offseason due to the contract situation, and depending on what happens in the eventual showdown with the Pacers. Even so, Chalmers is probably going to want more money than the Heat would want to pay. There's an argument that they can move Cole into the starting point guard position and sign a vet minimum guy to back him up and run the team. Cole is as much a shoot first guy as IT.

Kirk Hinrich is the guy to look at in the offseason. He is having a rough year in Chicago, but he ticks all the boxes you want in your starting pg with Gay and Cousins. Decent outside shooter, defensive minded, veteran presence, deferential, relatively cheap, good size for the position. He is a talent downgrade from IT, but an upgrade in every way that matters.

If Ben can play the kind of defense he played last night, and his shot comes back, then you can give half of IT's shots to Hinrich and half to Ben and come out well ahead of where we are now.

Realistically, it would probably have to be a draft day trade where we give up our 1st rounder, McLemore, McCallum, Thompson, and Outlaw (ender) for him. Personally, I would rather keep our guys and try to sign Rondo in 2015 when we'll have a lot of cap space to work with, but Ainge is very high on Rondo and won't give him up without getting a lot of value back.

I'm with you on keeping our guys...The only guy out of those you mentioned that I'm willing to give up is Outlaw. But if we can get Rondo for a reasonable tradable price I'd love it. But if it's our young assets, then no thanks...Honestly it wouldn't surprise me if the Celtics wouldn't get that big of a deal (that they're probably looking for) for Rondo. Hopefully another amazing deal can happen for our team.

I'm not surprised that they'd trade the pick. This team can only benefit so much from more unestablished players who haven't experienced winning in the NBA.
