Actually we could promise them the pick in the 2018/19 season. The pick we owe will be resolved one way or the other by then.

The problem with Sanders is his salary. Now if he turns back into the player he was last season, then the salary is fine. But if not, we may be locking ourselves into salary cap hell.

again, yes, which is why I added the "whether they should get anything at all" part. it's a high, like really high, risk, but equally high reward situation. thing is, there, imo, is nothing that this team needs more than a rim protector next to Cousins. specifically, one that actually knows how to play basketball. not many of those are ever really available without attached risk or insane asking price. there's Asik and who the hell knows what Morey wants for him, these days. there's Noah (my preferred option, btw), who comes with the injury and age concerns you mentioned earlier and who might not be available at all. and then there's Sanders, maybe the best fit next to Cousins of all those, defensively, still really young and potentially to be had rather cheap, unless he turns it around dramatically this season. he has character issues, severe ones even, and might have been a contract-year mirage.
there's risk attached to all three of them, but if you want to get to the playoffs, nevermind actually succeeding in them, those three guys represent the best solutions short and maybe even long-term. my thing with Sanders is that you can maybe get him without giving up your draft pick, in which case you could still draft a shotblocker there as sort of a backup plan. it'd be expensive, but being a cap management expert is supposedly PDA's thing, so I'd let him worry about that (might be a whole lot simpler without Landry's contract hanging around, but that horse is so dead, I'm basically only beating dust, at this point).

I think we can get a solid PG or Post defender from the draft so I guess it's really which one do we want to go for that is the question which will dictate who we trade and what we trade for. It's tricky because we can possibly pick anywhere from 5-13 (realistically) and top 5 pick if we're extremely lucky but then we'd probably go for one of the top 5 stars and trade down to get an Exum or post man. It's a really tricky year. I hope they have someone in the office who is working night and day calculating all this stuff.
In the end, it's all luck but with some quality research you could end up with a guy like Cousins.

Yeah but that's the gamble every team takes when choosing to trade players and make draft picks. It's all luck with a lot of research put into it.
For all we know, Wiggins, Embiid and Parker become busts. Chances of that are slim but crazier things have happened. Look at a guy like Gregg Oden. Prospected to be one of the greatest bigs of all time. Now, he's trying to revive his career. Granted, the Heat didn't lock him into a crazy salary, It was a smart move on their part because now they have a chance for him to turn into a good role player or more.
Sanders could turn up to be another Thornton or he could become really motivated and disciplined when surrounded by great players such as Gay and Cousins along with a superior coach.
I guess trades are done by statistics anyways. They get analysts to output numbers of how likely a player will succeed in a team based on specific data blah blah blah and then they still get it wrong sometimes.

Are you guys watching ibaka right now and chandler/hibbert earlier it's amazing. We need to get sanders it's a must, give them mclemore or wait till the draft and give them our pick but we need sanders.

I'm not pro-Sanders though but he's the best fit next to Cousins now, but the problem is his salary and his play this season is way different from the previous season, if only he can turn into the same player he was last season.

Yeeeeeahh, you might want to check him out a bit before saying that getting him is a must. If we acquired last season's Sanders, then sure. If we acquired this season's Sanders with his new contract, it's time to break out the torches and pitchforks because we just potentially set our franchise back a couple more years

that Bucks team is just weird. seems like each and every person on there is underachieving. what the hell a** happened to OJ Mayo for instance. never been a fan, but right now he just looks pathetic. I'd venture to say that most anybody there would look a lot better just being extracted out of that mess. just look what leaving Sacramento did to our cast offs. or Rudy Gay, for that matter.

I like McGee over Sanders for this team. We need some funny moments on this team from time to time after all the trauma we have during the Maloof years. 
McGee can block shots in the same rate as Sanders and the guy is Shaq's pet, which means a lot chances that Shaq continue to go rounds in the around the bench.

they really aren't, or at least they didn't intend to. Herb Kohl has always been adamant about not wanting to tank, their fans even felt that it was necessary to start a campaign for tanking (bought a billboard and everything). the team was just put together so badly and has been so ravaged by injury that now, everybody looks worse than they really are.
I like McGee over Sanders for this team. We need some funny moments on this team from time to time after all the trauma we have during the Maloof years.
McGee is a really bad defender and a terrible basketball player in general, though. don't want any part of him.

The reason I like Sanders more than any of the other guys said is cause he's got great length/athletic ability and imo is far better suited to defending PF's than he is mammoths like Pekovic/Cousins/Dwight, most PF"s can't easily overpower him making him a nightmare to go against. I've always felt he played out of position @C even though he was extremely successful with it last year and had a couple really good games this year.
I don't like the idea of playing two slow footed C's in Cousins/Asik or someone like that. Cousins this year has had zero issues with power guys like Pekovic (could barely move Cuz and he's the strongest dude in the L) and Howard. Larry Sanders to me can bother stretch 4's more than anyone not named Anthony Davis and he's long enough/strong enough to bang with the majority of PF's. Also in general I really enjoy watching the firey big's play they always bring something extra to the game.

I don't know about Sanders. The crucial question is: Does he behave like that (bar fight, being ejected etc.) because of his environment and a change of scenery would help? Or will he countionue to cause trouble? It would be important to know and analyse his charakter and behaviour before making such a risky deal. And because I'm don't know that I'll keep my nose out.
btw: What do you guys think of Lance Stephenson?
I'm not able to watch so much basketball because I'm from germany, so I don't know every strength/weakness of a player.. but I think he'd fit really well with the kings so I'm trying to figure out some (risky) ways to get him and asking myself whether he's worth the price or not.

However, Sanders' price tag isn't a lot lower. Sanders has four years (after this one) at $11M each, Noah has two years at an average of $12.8M.

I meant price tag as the cost to trade for him. I'm sure we'd have to give up a lot more for Noah than we would for Sanders in terms of talent, considering Sanders off the court issues and lack of production this season.

The Bucks are an oddly built team. They have a lot of money tied up in big's, and the money doesn't reflect the production. By that I mean, the highest paid players, are being out played by the lowest paid players. For instance, Sanders is due 11 mil next season and for the next four seasons and is playing 25:12 MPG, averaging 6.1 PPG, 6.8 RPG, and 1.6 BPG. While Henson is making 2 mil a season playing 17:58 MPG, while averaging 12.1 PPG, 8.0 RPG, and 2.3 BPG. Henson is putting up bigger numbers in fewer minutes, while making 9 million less per year. Of course they're about to be in the same boat with Henson that they were with Sanders when he nears the end of his rookie contract. But they have him for two more seasons.

I've dropped my relentless barrage of "trade for Asik" posts given that we likely traded the assets Houston would want in the Gay deal already. However, I'd say that while Asik is slow-footed in terms of pace of place, he's actually relatively nimble on defense and would fit in fine next to Cousins there. ). as far as Lance is concerned, there's a thread on him flying around this section somewhere, but the tl;dr version is: a) the Kings already have too much money/expectations invested into SG, b) he's going to get PAID, no way the Kings could realistically afford him, especially if they want to extend IT and/or Gay.

He's awesome, but he's gonna get $8-$10M a year. Doubt he's an option at that price. Rather spend that kind of money on a defensive big like Sanders.

thing about that is, it'd be a really good sign for his potential to mesh with Malone, if Sanders had played his best ball under Skiles. however, he really took off after the Allstar break, meaning when Skiles was fired and Jim Boylan took over. still, getting him the hell away from Drew might already do the trick.

Well it's an legitimate excuss because we don't even have german basketball on national tv. *sigh* and the international league pass is too expensive..The argument that it would be better to spent the money on a rim protector is good.
But my idea is to get the rim protector by drafting Vonleh/Cauley-stein and use IT to get rid of either Thornton's or JT's contract. So we could spent about 12 million on Lance. But I'm not totally sure he's worth that money. Why would I do it? We solve our problem at the 2 by getting on of the best sgs in the game and (at least in theory) he works well with Jimmer and Ray McCallum (if Mac develops into a good perimeter defender) because he can handle and bring up the ball, has good court-vision and dishes out assist (just like the pacers do with him and Hill). aaaand we don't have to worry about sanders
