Joakim Noah?

If Chicago matches, is it then possible to trade him to the Kings?

Sure, but I don't know why they would match just to try and trade him. He's overpriced at that contract. An 8M/year Asik is not a great trade chip. He would be playing minor minutes behind Noah again putting up 3pts/2Reb or whatever it was. I sort of expect Chicago to let him go to Houston and keep Noah.

Chicago values Noah highly and he would be considered the second most important player by them, Rose being the main man of course. The only way they trade Noah is if they get a Howard or even Bynum in return.

One of the interesting things with Noah is that while its hard to separate Chicago fans from their front office when it comes to the noise out of Chi-town, they may NOT think of him as hihgly as you would think they would, or as hihgly as the rest of the world does. There have been rumors they are infatuated with Asik's adfvanced metrics, that Noah's injuries are a problem vis a vis his contract, his personality at times. And even rumors they don't think he's that great of a defender -- in fact the numbers would almost make their case. They are just much better defensively with their reserves and Asik than with their starters and Noah.

Now I can't tell how much is truly the front office vs. how much the fans. We have idiots around here ripping on our best players and grass is always greenering all the time as well. But the impression has been that there may be a little Igoudala in the situation, a guy everybody wants, a guy his home team should seemingly love, but that for some reason is available. Maybe.

I dunno.

You could well be right. Injuries and personality might well be an issue as is the games played Vs salary. Besides that, Noah, when in form, is a borderline all-star big man. I would be over the moon if we could do this this as I think Noah's game, defensive ability and energy is a perfect fit for this team.

I do think if Noah is available (which I doubt) then Petrie will be asking the question as he is a big Noah fan. Now whether the Maloofs want to take on that salary or whether we could come up with a trade that would make Chicago happy but keep our core intact, that's another question.

Bulls sign Nazr Mohammed which pretty much means that they will not be matching Asik offer. Smart move by the Bulls. Keep your best big man and sign a cheap veteran back up rather than spend $8 million per season for a player that gets about 15 minutes per game in your line up.
