[Game] Game 70: Kings v. 76ers - 3/24/15 - 7:00 pdt 10:00 edt

That's exactly what I'm saying. Robinson, given comparable minutes, will be better than both Thompson and Landry next year. He was already this season. If we want to make the playoffs next year, we need to stop playing subpar veterans simply because they're on the payroll. Thompson hasn't produced reliably for going on 7 years now. It's never going to happen. Landry is valuable only as a scorer and he's not really even doing that anymore. We can probably replace his 5 shots per game and mediocre defense/rebounding/passing from the D league at this point. Just buy him out -- sunk cost. Robinson isn't the defensive PF we need in the starting lineup, but he'd be on upgrade on the bench right away. I also think he'll have a better career than all of the guys you listed (minus Horry's improbable 7 championship rings).

So no, I don't want us to sign Robinson because I'm happy with losing. I want us to sign Robinson because we can make the playoffs next year with league average production at PF and nobody we have right now is getting it done. Like I said, I know it's a lonely bandwagon.
Robinson will probably be a more effective player than Landry going forward, especially under Karl, but that has more to do with how awful Carl is playing, than Robinson becoming an effective NBA player. JT is an excellent post defender, who also has versatility to play two positions, and with DMC having a strong preference for left post this comes in handy http://on.nba.com/1vLxUYM.

he's DPOY material.

This is true, and I'd actually love to see Noel play next to Cuz (maybe if our draft pick is high enough, and Philly picks up another big, PDA can work something out...But I digress), but the guy just doesnt have the strength to handle a monster like Boogie. Even if he blocks Cuz 10 times, he's still going to end up getting smashed.

....Of course, Cousins crushing Noel doesnt guarantee the win. :p

Cousins and Thompson complimenting each other's shooting preferences only matters if they're on the floor together. Thompson is not going to be a big part of the offense in any circumstance and pushing him to the bench (which pretty much everyone agrees is a good idea) minimizes the amount of time he's playing next to Cousins. I do like Thompson's post defense in certain match-ups, but theoretically we'd be replacing him with a better defender in the starting lineup. I tried really hard to give Thompson another chance this year. He impressed me early in the year, but ultimately just showed that he's exactly who I thought he was -- expendable.

Cousins still plays with bench guys, and there's always foul trouble.
JT is an average big man, who makes average money and whose game are more suited for PO, where game is slower. It's strange, how the best string of games he had was during period of team success. No, he wasn't the reason for that success, but he certainly wasn't a problem either. He's a filler, plays his role and gets out of the way.
Grass is always greener somewhere else though.

It's not so much that the grass is greener somewhere else as four days out of five I look out my window and the grass there is dead or dying. Sure it looks pretty good on one day out of five but I'll be damned if it's never the day I want to use it. If you think that's a situation that's well suited to the playoffs, you have much lower blood pressure than I do. ;)

well the Kings managed to lose against the Sixers with Cousins putting up godly numbers...let's see if they can win with Cousins puttin up 21 and 13 and Rudy chipping in with his usual 20+...one more thing...how about containing Ish Smith? Damn...never thought I'd mention his name but so be it.

Um... Okay, then.

I normally subscribe to the opinion that saying "agree to disagree" is taking the coward's way out of an argument, but I refuse to waste another minute of my brain power on Thomas ****ing Robinson. So, sure, I'll bee dat, for once: agree to disagree, I guess.

T-Rob refuses to waste his brain power on himself too, mainly because he has little to spare.

Kings in the Rochester Royals jerseys. :) Fans allowed to have pictures taken in front of the only title banner ever won by our franchise. :)

I guess I missed the point when it became cool to make fun of a guy who lost both grandparents and his mom while he was in college and has been raising his young sister himself since he was 20 years old. Surely there's a line somewhere. But then I'm used to people treating me like I'm some kind of idiot just because I see something where they won't even take the time to look. So no harm, no foul.

Nobody is picking on him because of that. In fact, nobody has mentioned anything at all about his private life - as THAT is what's normally out of bounds.

Well, this is kind of ugly - and I'm glad to see Karl take an early time out.

No comment on the second sentence, but the kid having a hard life, and stepping up in times of tragedy doesn't get him placed on a "do not ridicule" list. It's terrible what happened to Thomas Robinson in his personal life. It is admirable and commendable how he stepped up to take care of his sister. But, guess what? That earns you no free passes on the basketball court. If you play like you have low/no basketball IQ, it's open season on you, just like it would be on anyone else.

Damn it all! If I were half the "abuse of power" mod that I get accused of being sometimes, I would hit both you and Tetsujin up with infractions, just for making me talk about Thomas Robinson again.

Ah crap. If my comments seem a little later than usual (no snide comments please), I just realized I had paused the TV for a few seconds. Oops. :p
