I don't know who the Kings would target if they trade down, which is why I'm having a hard time seeing that sort of deal materializing.
Unless its LaVine, Hood, or Ennis than it will be for someone the Kings haven't worked out.
I would consider it for LaVine, but that would be an odd choice if the Kings are trying to win now. He's a potential type pick. Hood can shoot, but doesn't exactly fill a need with Rudy here. Reminds me a bit of Outlaw. And Ennis is a guy the Kings liked earlier in the season. Would be a cheap, pass first option at point guard, but I'm not really a huge fan.
What I'm really saying, I don't know if whatever player we trade for WITH a later pick is worth losing a chance at Gordon, Payton, or Smart.
If could trade down SLIGHTLY, and still target Payton than, well, I'm on board.
Out of the teams ESPN mentioned being linked to the Kings, 76ers pick at 10, and you can probably get Payton there, but Philly as a trade partner doesn't excite me. I know some people like Thad Young. I think he's a fine player. Not the best fit here, though. MCW is the other guy, but we wouldn't get MCW and 10 for 8.
The other team mentioned with a relatively high pick is Phoenix at 14. Will Payton be there at 14? I don't know. Feels unlikely at this point. And who could they offer of interest? Bledsoe can't be traded yet. Plumlee had a pretty good year, particularly defensively, so I'd certainly take a look at him. If Payton is available, and the offer is 14 and Plumlee for 8, I'm taking that.
