I'm starting to gain a little more confidence Burke will fall, given some of the latest mocks I've seen and the needs of every team ahead of us
He might fall... he's far from a sure thing. Prospect wise who does he compare to? A Brandon Knight maybe? He went 8th. I dunno... Burke is a tough one. Should be a good player but maybe/probably not great. Who knows though... Chris Paul would never have lasted til 4th if people knew then what they know now.I'm starting to gain a little more confidence Burke will fall, given some of the latest mocks I've seen and the needs of every team ahead of us
In such a scenario I'd rather just keep Tyreke and draft someone that does fit. However, I don't think it'd be a huge problem having both of them on the roster, and the positives would far outweigh the negatives. But not everyone will see things that way. I'd love a big, physical defensive backcourt.
I'd give up Thornton to move up to get Porter. Thornton's contract dimishes his value; also he's redundant; also he's a malcontent who doesn't like coming off the bench; also I really like Porter who I think could help immediately; and we really need a legit 3.
I feel like you are making some of this up. I don't think Thorton is a malcontent or has a problem coming off the bench. I think he has a problem losing and having inconsistent minutes and role.
Nope. I'm not making it up. Napier has reported it, Thornton has all but acknowledged it. He's not a happy camper coming off the bench, not happy at all about his role.

Did you know that Cousins was traded? Thornton is fine as long as he's basically the only one who falls out of team concept and only does that from time to time. When traded to Sacramento, he averaged 21.3 points on .547TS%, being only a sophomore. Sure, many people can do that, right? Well, this past season only 9 people averaged above 20ppg with better than .540TS% efficiency. Ok, 20 ppg is pretty unrealistic to expect from 3rd option. How about just 16ppg on .540TS%. List obviously expands, but you still get only 27 people with good teams getting multiple guys on this list, so it's still pretty special company. He was also getting rebounds (4.4 per 36 minutes) and passing (3.2 apg per 36 minutes). Getting that guy back on track will likely benefit this team as well.Nope. I'm not making it up. Posted this in the Prospects forum, but may as well post it here incase people don't see. Burke's workout today with the Kings:
Is this guy really any better than the pizza guy?
My thoughts exactly. Personally I'd take MCW at 7 before Burke, bring in a competent shooting coach to work with him, as the Kings organization appears to be doing, and you've got a 6'6" playmaker who can score. SCARY.
I think you'd have to be crazy to take MCW over Burke, and I'm not even gaga about Burke, I just like him. Ya, MCW is tall and athletic, but apart from that, there's not a lot there... He's all potential. Maybe I'll be wrong - I'm not saying he'll definitely be a bust, just that I'm much more confident of Burke being a productive player than MCW.
Did you mean to write who can't score? My thoughts exactly. Personally I'd take MCW at 7 before Burke, bring in a competent shooting coach to work with him, as the Kings organization appears to be doing, and you've got a 6'6" playmaker who can score. SCARY.

There is no good person that will benefit the Kings much at pick #7.
Everybody has huge holes in their game and whether these holes can be fixed is conjecture. I have resigned myself to getting a non-fitting player and then having an active GM to straighten out the mess. We already have a mess so what's an extra player but perhaps more flexibility in trades? Nobody fits unless Noel, Porter, or Oladipo fall to us. Now, that doesn't mean there are nothing but bad athletes left. There are several non-fitting good athletes available. Len is not ideal (if he falls) but would give us a tough offensive front court with still no mega shot blocker. That assumes no future stress fractures. He would be easily tradable and might get us the GOOD shot blocker. Zeller is at least a curiosity. I don't think it is so easy to know how his game would translate to the NBA game except that we don't need a short armed, non shot blocking 7 footer. The rest of his athletic skills might work out just fine. He certainly is tradable. There are a variety of guards with problems in there game that do little but add to the collection we have. There are guys who might mature into something and I look straight at Gobert and Adams but we are looking at a 3-5 year project.
In other words I would pick the guy most likely to be tradeable so we can clean up this fluster cluck of a line up. Perhaps we would even develop the player to a certain extent before the trade but that would cause problems of maintaining the mismatched pieces longer than most of us would like.
BTW, did anyone see the interview with Shabbazz? I think I know why Malone spent so much time with him. From the maturity side of the equation, he is deficient. I think there are reasons why he is a year older than originally thought such as perhaps he was held back a year. I hate to call someone limited in intelligence but as I see it as just another factor along with a jump shot that goes into the ability to play the game, I'll say this guy is not bright. All indications point in that direction. Something is wrong above the neck. He seems to be living in a non-adult fantasy world. He seems like a five year old. That about covers it.
I'll take your word for it. And if that's the case he's the last person this team needs to draft.
