starting lineup

G-League
What's the best starting lineup and second lineup?
Here's my pick:
Against teams with strength in the paint (Lakers, Denver, Spurs, Portland)
Starter:Evans, Greene, Casspi, Cousins, Dally
Second Unit: Udrih, Evans, Green, Thompson, Whiteside

Against run and gunners (GS, Suns,Dallas)
Starter: Evans, Greene, Casspi, Landry, Thompson
Second Unit: Udrih, Evans, Greene, Whiteside, Cousins

Need fresh legs for backup PG

Can't have both Udrih and Tyreke start. We need to have PG with fresh legs through the game. You'd start Thompson over Landry? I guess that makes sense since Cousins can score inside. Landry will be upset.

At the moment I think the line-up should be:

1st Unit
Evans
Garcia
Greene
JT
Cousins

2nd Unit
Beno (1st 1/2 off the bench)
Casspi (1st 2/3 off the bench)
Landry (1st 4 off the bench)
Dalembert (1st 5 off the bench)

Since Cousins brings post scoring, I'd rather see JT start with Cousins. JT can spread the floor with his mid-range game and he along with Cousins should kill other teams on the boards to start the game.

I like bringing in Landry and Dalembert together. Landry provides high energy off the bench and the post scoring. Dalembert provides the great rebounding, shotblocking, and good defense.

I prefer to have Garcia start with Tyreke at this point in time. He's a good shooter, and has far better size and defense than Beno.

I think we saw Beno at his best coming off the bench, bringing in a different change of pace from Tyreke, so I'd like to see that continue.

Ultimately, if Whiteside can 'get it' and become the elite defensive presence at the four spot, while not being a liability on the offensive end, I'd like to see him starting at the 4 spot with Cousins at the 5.

Id say we'll go with

Evans
Beno
Garcia
Landry
Dalembert

Id rather;
Evans
Beno
Donte
Landry
Cousins

we need to make a commitment to playing cousins much like we did with tyreke last season. I strongly feel though we'll entrust Dalembert with the starting role initially

You don't bench Landry for the simple fact that you want to make sure that he resigns lol

First Half of season

PG) Evans
SG) Greene
SF) hopefully an FA or if not Capi
PF) Landry
C) Dalembert

Bench) Udrih,Garcia, Cousins, JT, Casspi(hopefully)

Second half of season(if we aren't in playoff contention)

PG) Evans
SG) Greene
SF) Same
PF) Landry
C) Cousins

and hopefully we move Dalemberts expiring for a valuable piece

if We are in contention I guess we stick with what works

starters:
beno
tyreke
greene/casspi (whoever goes into the season as the best shooter)
thompson
cousins

bench:
free agent pg
garcia
casspi/greene
landry/brock
dalembert, whiteside

landry will be our 6th man.

Evans
Beno
Donte
Jt
Cousins

I like the idea of giving JT a shot a starting next to a real center. IMO he has a higher ceiling than Landry, its just putting it all together. Carl is perfect as a 6th man, obviously.

I also like Dalambert coming off the bench. It's a luxury we can now afford having Cousins. Dalembert averages about 28min a game for his career. I like the idea of playing him 20-25 mins a night, and letting him be extrememly aggressive going after blocks and rebounds.

Our frontline will come in waves. I think JT will fit in real well next to Cousins. JT's rebounding should improve with all the attention Cousins will get. Then the ability to bring Landry and Dalembert off the bench is scary. Both combinations can score, rebound, block shots, will be active on the offensive boards, and shouldn't be a liability on defense.

I like both Landry and Dalembert in concentrated roles. Let Sam focus on rebounding and blocking shots. Let Landry focus on being as active as possible, and crashing the boards. He's better when he's more of an energy guy, and doesn't have to worry about fouls. Both Cousins and JT have more talent, better all around games. I'd like to see them learn to play off each other as they develop. They could be a very versatile combination down the road.

Cousins
Thompson
Greene
Beno
Evans

I just think that Thompson would fit better with Cousins, and Cousins better start.

PG: Beno
SG: Evans
SF: Casspi
PF: Landry
C: Cousins

I think this is the lineup to move forward with. JT is far to inconsistent to be a starter. Landry is solid and is one of the most consistent players in the league. He's also a better shooter and scorer than Jason.

I think we have to many bodies wanting minutes in the frontcourt so Petrie and Westphal better hope Landry can play some significant minutes at SF.

Dalembert was traded to us because he was unhappy with only getting 26 minutes a game in Philly. He isn't really a bench option.

I suspect that he'll be the starter until at least the week of the trade deadline.

I really don't see how you don't start Beno with Tyreke. We have all seen how effective they were playing together. We keep saying that Garcia is a perfect complement to Tyreke on paper, but I didn't really see that come into fruition last year. I would prefer to have Landry come off the bench so he can wreck the second units of the other teams. I personally see him resigning with us anyway. Samuel Dalembert BETTER be coming off the bench. I know he wasn't happy with getting limited playtime in Philadelphia, but I personally think things have drastically changed with the addition of Cousins and Whiteside.

Who cares what he's unhappy with? Cousins is the future, Dalembert isn't. He'll get the minutes he'll get and if he doesn't like it then he can go pound sand.

The fact is we coverted him for a fair period of time leading up to the trade so even with the drafting of cousins we didnt bring him in to be a bench player. Obviously with the drafting of DC things change but i dont believe Sammy will be coming off the bench on day one even though DC is the future

Ok. Who did we covet more, Dalembert or Cousins?

Rotations....

It's always fun to speculate on starting lineups but in the end, that's all it is.... Speculation... Even if we don't make any more free agent acquisitions, the starting lineup will be based on player development this off season and will ultimately change as the season progresses and as the players do. Hopefully we can get to a point this season where we start a consistent 5 to 7 based on player/team matchups. I'll wait to speculate who the starting 5 may be until we decide whether or not to acquire any more free agents. Things are looking bright for us though, whatever the starting lineup may be...

Cousins is young however, and with so many viable options arund him we can afford to play him the minutes he deserves, but no more, this season. If he comes in ready to be 20-10 and challenge Dwiught for best center in the league, then load those minutes up. If he starts slow, nothing at all the matter with starting Dalembert and having Cousins, Thompspon, Whiteside etc. back him up for a while.

No need to treat Dalembert as a nothing or a problem -- getting him was a big step forward before getting Cousins/Whiteside kicked us into a whole other gear. You don't sacrifice Cousins for him, but no need to squash him or forget about him if he's needed. He's been a solid starting center for years, and is still in his prime.

I think Dalembert starts at the 4 with JT and Landry off the bench.

I also like Garcia starting with Reke

Reke (6'5)
Garcia (6'7)
Greene/Casspi (6'10)
Dalembert (7'0)
Cousins (6'11)

Is there any team in the NBA that can match up with that?

C 6'11" Dalembert
PF 6'11" Cousins
SF 7'0" Whiteside
SG 6'11" Thompson
PG 6'11" Greene

Just to start and scare the poop out of whoever we meet in the first game of the first round of the playoffs. :p Then we could insert Reke after the first deadball.

Ehh Cisco was injured most of the year he wasn't around for the Reke team takeover so nobody really knows how Garcia does/doesn't fit back there with him. I think he is the guy we are looking for and is the closest thing to a team first veteran this team has so starting him will definitely be GREAT.

I love a 9 man rotation of...

Reke
Cisco
Donte or Omri
JT
Dalembert(Contract year he's gonna bring it every night if he wants that next check)

Beno, Landry and Cousins off the bench. You have Beno's midrange magnificence matched up with Landry's heart and also makes Cousins prove himself early to get that starting spot. We got the makings of a new bench mob it should be a entertaining year for us this will be the longest offseason I've had in awhile as it's gonna be great going into this year with no old crummy roadblocks sitting between all of these young guys. For the first time in years we can proudly say we are fielding a team of young, exciting players Arco will be BUMPING next year.:)

C 6'11" Dalembert
PF 6'11" Cousins
SF 7'0" Whiteside
SG 6'11" Thompson
PG 6'11" Greene

Same thing I posted in another thread except I had JT bringing up the ball on a break as he has been known to do from time to time. :D

I think this team is the 8 seed. Alot of basketball to be played and free agents to land, but there is now no reason why this team cannot start winning.

Competition

I think the starting lineup will be up in the air until PW sees enough in training camp to take the best players to play with Tyreke. I suspect that Cousins will have preference since he will likely play well with Tyreke. JT and Landry will have to fight hard for PF spot. Whiteside is going to compete with Daly for backup. They're basically the same type of player: Long, athletic shotblocker rebounder with raw offensive game.

My ideal lineup as of now would be ...

Evans/Udrih
Garcia/Udrih/Casspi/Greene
Greene/Casspi
Landry/Thompson/Brockman/Whitside
Dalembert/Cousins/Whiteside

Plenty of ways to shuffle the bench. I like that starting lineup though. Lets Evans get the PG matchup, and surrounds him with 2 shooters. I chose Greene over Casspi because of the defense and size. Udrih, Casspi, Thompson, and Cousins as the main players off the bench is a killer second unit. Killer.

Could see Cousins taking over for Dalembert at the deadline, and having JT step in next to him if he plays well. Then you can move Landry to the bench where his size mismatch is less of an issue, because opposing backup PF's arent talented enough to take advantage of the size they have over him.

And if it doesnt work, you can always change it.

How about posting minutes for the rotations too. Show me how you fit brockman and whitside into the rotation.

Starting out this is what I would try and adjust it depending on who shows they are ready for more minutes.

PG: Evans (37), Beno (8)
SG: Garcia (25) Beno (20)
SF: Green (23), Casspi (22)
PF: Landry (25), JT (10) Whiteside (10)
C: Dalembert (20), JT (10) Cousins (15)
