Potential Free agent/trade/sign tracker

DLo also said that he thinks it’s most likely Cam and that Cam is good with a trade to Sac. He also said they may be working on something else but he said the intel was too open to interpretation so wouldn’t go any further into that
I'm excited about Cam. He's absolutely a missing link piece for us giving another full sized wing and a reliable elite spacer who can boost this offense through the roof. Leads to a very natural progression where he starts next year and DDR comes off the bench. It's been pretty exceptional that we're as highly rated as we are with basically all 3 of our elite spacers from 2 years ago, aren't nearly performing to the same level.

I've long thought the way this team wins is they're a passable defense and a top 3 offense. Cam's a guy that can be that bridge. Gotta keep Trey though, that matters a ton, I think. Keon-Cam-Trey is a phenomenal playoff bench unit

What's up with DLO saying we might get Cam, Collins or maybe both....BOTH? HOW? I don't see how the contracts would match up.
I posted this yesterday but here is the formal trade I proposed that would do just that…

---------------------------------------

BKN Gets: Cole Anthony, Trey Lyles, 2025 ORL 1st (Top 10 Protected), & 2025 DEN 1st (Top 5 Protected)
BKN Gives: Cam Johnson & 2025 BKN 2nd
Why for BKN? The Nets cash in on their win now vet and pickup two 1st round draft picks and a 24 year old PG they can take a look at or flip in a years time for more assets. They also shave off more salary next year (since Lyles is expiring) giving them that much more cap space to throw around.

PG - Anthony / Russell / Melton
SG - Thomas / Johnson / Lewis
SF - Williams / Whitehead / Watford
PF - Simmons / Wilson / Lyles / Bogdanovic
C - Claxton / Sharpe / Clowney

---------------------------------------

ORL Gets: Malik Monk & Colby Jones
ORL Gives: Cole Anthony, Gary Harris, 2025 ORL 1st (Top 10 Protected), & 2025 DEN 1st (Top 5 Protected)
Why for ORL? The Magic add a starting caliber PG in Monk who will be just entering his prime at 26 years old. His ability to setup others, score the rock, and space the floor seem like a natural fit next to a core of Suggs, Wagner, and Banchero. Monk’s contract is likely beneficially to ORL considering how much they will have tied up in Suggs, Wagner, & Banchero. Monk is under contract for the next 3.5 years (PO the last year) while only making ~$19 mil a year.

PG - Monk / Black / Joseph
SG - Suggs / KCP / Jones
SF - Wagner / Da Silva / Howard / Houstan
PF - Banchero / Isaac
C - Carter / Bitadze / Wagner

---------------------------------------

SAC Gets: John Collins & Cam Johnson
SAC Gives: Malik Monk, Kevin Huerter, Trey Lyles, Colby Jones, Doug McDermott, & 2029 SAC 2nd
Why for Kings? Statistically, the Kings are best when they have either Fox or Monk at PG with a 3&D player at SG (e.g., Ellis) next to them which makes things awkward considering both Fox & Monk start and finish games. Instead of trying to convince Monk to come off the bench and let Ellis both start and finish games, they move Monk to help address their size & length issues. Losing Monk hurts, but I don’t see SAC having issues scoring considering Fox, DeRozan, Johnson, Murray, Collins, and Sabonis can all score 15+ a game. And on the flip side, this allows Fox to save his energy on the defensive side a bit considering the Kings can have either Ellis or Carter defending the opposing teams best offensive guard.

PG - Fox / McLaughlin
SG - Ellis / Carter
SF - Johnson / DeRozan / Crowder
PF - Murray / Collins
C - Sabonis / Len

---------------------------------------

UTA Gets: Kevin Huerter, Gary Harris, Doug McDermott, 2025 BKN 2nd, & 2029 SAC 2nd
UTA Gives: John Collins
Why for UTA? The Jazz cash in on their win now vet and pickup 2 2nd round picks as compensation. They also save some money next year as Collins will likely opt in, and Harris’ contract next year is not guaranteed.

PG - Sexton / Clarkson / Collier / Mills
SG - George / Harris / Juzang
SF - Williams / Huerter / Mylhailiuk / Sensabaugh
PF - Markkanen / Hendricks / McDermott
C - Kessler / Filipowski / Eubanks

---------------------------------------

You could also send out DeRozan instead of Monk to make the salaries work but you’d need to 1) find a team that would be interested in DeRozan, 2) give up more value/picks in the trade since Monk’s trade value should be higher than DeRozan’s, and 3) be ready to bite the PR bullet of trading a future hall of famer half a season after he decided to sign with you in FA.

I thought you guys were talking about Cameron Johnson? Cameron Thomas does not move the needle for the Kings. I wonder if Cameron Johnson's current injury might make it more feasible for the Kings to close the deal?

As I said before, I am no armchair GM.

As best I can tell, it was only one poster above who brought Cam Thomas into the discussion. I don't see him as a piece that makes particular sense for us. Cam Johnson on the other hand...

Same! I’ve even said overpay for him because he slots in perfectly for Derozan for the future so you’re killing two birds with one stone. If we trade Trey we could try and get Sharpe back.
Cam + something else could be good enough for us to become serious players in the conference!
Ya I wonder if that something is Jonas he fits under one of our Trade Exceptions I believe

I swear these radio guys are more Orson Welles than Woj
Dlo basically broke the Derozan signing before woj and Shams picked up the story he doesn’t throw out rumors just to do it. And Carter won’t be in any trade he’s said his source has told him players going out but has told him one player who isn’t so I assume it’s Carter because Keegan’s name hasn’t been thrown in the rumors

Any chance that Jordi was so upset by the Brown firing that, that is why the Kings and Nets haven't had any/much contact the past few weeks?
i would go with no. I’m guessing he isn’t involved with roster decisions at this point of his career and given the goal of the Nets is to lose as much as possible.

I still don’t really get why the Nets want to trade him honestly. They have 15 first round picks and a ton of seconds. They also have a boatload of cap space to go try and add players via trade and turn it around reasonably quick. They are losing games anyway and he says he is happy with the Nets. a good role player. Happy to have him on the kings if that’s what goes down though.

Let’s not question a team that can give us a 6’7 elite shooter with defense haha

Sportrac says this is a legal trade and I am not advocating for it:

NJ out: Johnson (sac), Sharpe (sac) and Thomas (utah), multiple first to Sac with one going to Utah
NJ in: Fox

Sac out: Fox (NJ), Heurter (Utah) and Lyles (Utah).
Sac in: Johnson, Sharpe and Collins plus first(s)

Utah out: Collins (sac)
Utah in: Thomas, Heurter and Lyles plus first

Utah would have to cut a player or two but they could be squeezed into going to Sac/NJ

I’m not against trading Fox but not for this unless those firsts coming back are high quality 1sts.

Like I had stated, not advocating for it. And I also left off what picks and their protections. I just wanted to show what a framework of a deal could look like if we were getting both Collins and Johnson. After that the devil is in the details.......

It will be so nice when the trade deadline arrives. All the speculation will resolve into fact. (I know a lot of fans take great pleasure in the trade and roster manipulations.)

And then we move on to the draft, summer trade, and free agent discussions. But we have to keep the forum alive somehow. Can't play a game every night.
