That's interesting. That better be heavily protected at that point and then what's the point for Utah haha.
they get worse for the tanking effort and get a late first instead of seconds. Might be the best offer

or they plan to give Miami a first plus whatever the third team sends to the Heat and the facilitator gets 2 firsts for their trouble
Middleton is still OK, but he's not the same player. Some nights he looks cooked for sure. The injuries have taken their toll. He still a skilled player but it is what it is. Beal misses games but he's not falling apart in the same ways.
They have to get out from under the apron first before they can even consolidate salaries though.
Yes I agree I’d take Beal over Middleton but giving up depth in the process is mind boggling. How do they even replace what Portis does for them they don’t have any bugs outside of Giannis/lopez

I wouldn’t mind getting in the deal and swapping Huerter to whatever team was supposed to get Portis and send them a couple second rounders
Portis is probably gone after this season anyway, he's can decline his option and he'll probably get a long term deal from someone. His name has been out there this season so who knows. They might be looking to just salvage some value before they have to risk losing him for nothing.
If the aggregated-salary trade takes them below the second apron, they are allowed to make it. It looks like they are really close because of Middleton's unlikely incentives that bump his apron number. Still, to squeeze under the second apron without sending Giannis (ha!), Lillard, or Brook they would have to make it a 5-for-3, sending out Middleton, Portis, Connaughton, Beauchamp, and AJ Johnson for Beal and two guys on a minimum deal, whichever two guys those would be. Having a third team helps here because Phoenix needs to reduce salary as well, because they are aproned.
I'm not saying this is a good idea, but it looks like there are frameworks where they can pull it off - they become a team with four stars (Giannis, Lillard, Lopez, and Beal) and literally every other player on a min deal. But it could technically happen.
Even if you lose him you’re hurting your team this year with that trade, why didn’t they trade him in the offense smh
Not sure how it makes any of the teams involved better aside from the Heat who at the very least get guys who can play minutes instead of someone who actively hates being there but it’s apparently doable.

Someone posted on Twitter if we traded Lyle’s for Wemby that machine has us not getting better
What's the point? Just moving players around to move players around
At the very least, Bobby Portis was probably genetically engineered to play on a Pat Riley team and a Bam/Portis/Ware front court rotation at least gives them something to really work with for the stretch run this season. Middleton is also ridiculously clutch in the postseason so that’ll help them when Herro inevitably gets hurt/doesn’t show up in April.Pretty much. It solves some headaches for certain teams though. Riley wanted no bad contracts and/or Beal didn't want to go to the Heat so now Riley gets crappier picks since I'm sure the Heat would be getting some of those.

I’d love to get Portis. We need more dawgs on this team.I wouldn’t mind getting in the deal and swapping Huerter to whatever team was supposed to get Portis and send them a couple second rounders
I feel like something will happen before the weekend. I feel it’s Cam Johnson but leaves me concerned about our size up front. We are thin now and with Lyle’s gone could cause even more trouble
You have to give to getIf they do it right we don’t have to give up Lyles in a Cam trade.
I’m pretty sure they are asking for Lyle/carter, Heurter, unprotected frp ,If they do it right we don’t have to give up Lyles in a Cam trade.

that’s a no for me dawg.
They have no use for Lyles anyway he would just be salary and they already have a ton of cap space going into next year. For me it’s a first round pick and Huerter. If they want Carter I’m out. I’d rather add around the edges and then see what’s available in the offseason if that’s the case.
Yeah, I’m only including Lyles if we get back Sharpe. Non-negotiable. So for me it comes down to if we want to have a rotation of…of they do it right we don’t have to give up Lyles in a Cam trade.
What filler do we actually have.I'm with that. We can work a FRP and Huerter and filler under the cap rules, so it's a first and Huerter and filler. No Carter, though surely they want him. No Lyles, though surely they don't care.
The bottom line is that Huerter for Cam makes us better. Cam effectively replaces Huerter in our rotation and allows us to play a little bigger all around. Huerter+Lyles for Cam is pretty iffy, because Lyles is a big enough part of our rotation that it's not clear we come out better without some other pretty decent 4/5 coming back.
We do the deal to get better, Nets do the deal to get the pick for an asset they don't really need right now. Both teams need to feel they win - by which I mean achieve their goals. If we drop Lyles, that may turn the deal into a loss for us, so why do it?
Put yourself in their shoes. Do you really think they can’t get more than a pick and huerter for Cam Johnson?that’s a no for me dawg.
