I know we don’t like Ham but allegedly Brooklyn wants an unprotected first and Sac wants it to be lottery protected. If it’s just one pick just meet in the middle and make it top three protected that pick shouldn’t stop us from getting a major talent upgrade especially if we can get Sharpe thrown in to net the loss of Lyle’s
Cam's got two more years after this one at about 13% of the salary cap. Why not meet the Nets in the middle and protect the pick for top-4?

I’d honestly be happy with any of Collins, Cam, JV, or RW111. I do however think we might be best getting someone that can play PF/C rather than SF/PF or just center. Just need to get Domas a legit backup and it would be a big benefit if they could also play the floor together.
Collins is the one on that list that plays 4/5 and fits the criteria of playing with or without Sabonis on the floor

They can have the pick as far as I am concerned. This is the time to bet on ourselves. This roster is almost fully stacked. Let's finish building this and enjoy it.

I've gone back and forth on this. I think a back up forward will be able to get more meaningful minutes. But either would be great.

I haven’t watched a single Utah game this year but see Collins has good all around numbers. He’s also a year and a half younger than Cam, not a huge difference but maybe a consideration.
Bottom line I just really want to see something happen and though not the uber young athletic types that would be desirable, I recon all four would help.

I think you can get Cam without trading Trey, which is a pretty big benefit. That makes your playoff rotation Keon-Cam-Trey off the bench, which is excellent in my book. If it costs Trey, so be it, but that would be a more ideal world. Already having the 4/5 flex guy that we trust on the team and not have to go find him.

Johnson deal to me hinges on whether or not Sharpe gets included.
Probably the difference in the protections on the FRP. I like Sharpe, but he's also a RFA next year and I feel like the Nets don't have too much of a reason to play hardball with him with Clax signed to a big deal on their team. I think depends if Trey has to go in the trade or not; if not, you don't have nearly a big a need to get Sharpe back.

The issue is that all the trade pieces that would fit this roster, always seem to go for more than they're willing to give up.

It's a tough spot, but at some point they will probably have to give up a lot to get an established missing piece. Otherwise your top players won't be convinced that you're doing enough to give the team a chance to become a contender.

If they're thinking of trading Fox for a huge package, then sure go ahead and wait it out. If not, then they really should take a swing and make a move before this deadline
Teams that make marginal talent upgrades to appease stars tend to suffer long after that star is gone. Trading Fox and appeasing Fox are two totally different levels of what if.

Really begs the question then, what is it going to take to make a tangible talent upgrade? That is the tough spot that McNair has been in with this roster
He did though, that talent upgrade was DeMar DeRozan in FA and taking Carter as the dropper on draft night. This isn't the same team that McNair started with. In fact think back to the team he was handed, that's monumental change around Fox already. Is this team going to win 9 out of 10 games from here on? Probably not, haha, but there's upside now. It's been a bumpy ride but only a playoffs with this squad can give him more clues. Monte didn't follow some of those clues heading into year two and it cost him dearly. The Kings needed another player to take pressure off of Fox in iso, DeRozan isn't an ideal fit for a variety of reasons but under perhaps the right coach we are now seeing that potential. Now to see if it helps come playoff/play in time if and when the DHO's fade again. Then if Fox is even remotely set on bailing and Monte knows this, then he has to start looking at alternatives come draft night to move towards the team left behind.

How stupid can a team be to think they’d get better going from Middleton, Portis, and Pat to Beal
This would probably be one of those "more flexible trade pieces" trade a la when Webber was moved. Beal is actually still better than any of those other players but that contract is a noose with the no trade clause. The Bucks are at that stage where they have to keep shifting their balance and two desperate teams do make a match, lol.

Are we sure he’s better than Middleton? He’s for sure not better than Middleton and Portis combined now add in Beal is injury prone just like Middleton

They have to get out from under the apron first before they can even consolidate salaries though.
That might be where those picks come in, send one to a team to take on some money. If teams can still trade the MLE then there could be something. Maybe Monte should get in on that one. Take some salary and a 1st for the cost of doing business and swing it over to someone else like maybe the Nets for Cam?

Middleton is still OK, but he's not the same player. Some nights he looks cooked for sure. The injuries have taken their toll. He still a skilled player but it is what it is. Beal misses games but he's not falling apart in the same ways.
