Playoff Update (Merged)

If we get to the playoffs at all, it better be with the mindset that we deserve to be there. It won't matter who we play in the first round, IMHO. We - meaning the Kings, of course - will have to be playing at the top of our game. I am not going to be rooting for us to slide in the back door and hope we get a "good" match in the first round. If we aren't playing playoff ball, we'll lose no matter whom we face.

Just my three cents, of course...

;)

Tonight:

Pacers at Grizzlies - Pacers gut this one out.

Clippers at Hornets - Clips will be too much for the Hornets, who'll continue to slip.

Suns at Jazz - Ditto Clips/Hornets, only some more competitive.

Follow-up:

Well, completely wrong on Pacers/Grizzlies and Clips/Hornets... and the Jazz have pulled it together and got their energy going in the 2nd half against the Suns.

blehhh...Memphis keeps winning, gettin that special 6th seed is going to be rough with our April sched. :(

Well, obviously tonight didn't exactly boost our playoff status, or chances. We need to play better than that. We need to take care of the ball better than that. We need... well, we need a lot of things after that performance, but mostly we just need to go out and win some games. Our schedule in April is tough, and the Laker's looks like a cakewalk compared to it. So, GO KINGS! Let's win some games!

Be nice to go at least 3-2 in the final five of March.

25th at Jazz
26th vs. Warriors
28th vs. Wiz
29th at Blazers
31st at Warriors
Kings can win all those games. I could see the Kings going 5-0. It'd be nice to be on a winning streak going into the final month of the season.

I think so also. Though there's a 4-games in 5 nights set there, the second of the back-to-backs are against bad teams. One against a scrappy, but young Blazer team at home, the other against a Baron Davis-less Warriors team at Arco. So, this would be the best chance to turn around our 2nd of a BTB bad play. Also, the Wizards play the night before they play us the next night.

But, 3-2 would be very good.

Tonight:

Clippers at Grizzlies: I'd say either can win this, both are hungry for different reasons. I'll just go with the Clippers.

Rockets at Hornets: Hopefully the Rockets defense and Yao can overpower the young, athletic Hornets at home.

Wizards at Jazz: Jazz coming off a big win vs. Suns at home, but I can honestly see either team getting this one. Wiz are on a roll in their playoff run, are deep and athletic, so I'll go with them. Jazz has us next game.

Jazz, Hornets, and Grizz will all win.

2 out of 3, indeed. :)

Also being the two which involved teams close to us and below us in the standings, both the Jazz and Hornets, losing. My Grizz/Clips prediction wasn't really a strong one anyways

Tonight:

Grizzlies at Knicks - Grizzlies will simply be too much for the Knicks.

Hornets at Bulls - Bulls are hungry for a play-off spot, play inspired ball at home just about every game, the Hornets are not a good road team, and team lately, period. ;)

Bucks at Lakers - Bucks nice assortment of bigs and guards will overpower Kobe and Odom, Bucks also want to keep their 7th spot at bay.

Have my doubts about the Bucks game -- there's nobody to challenge Kobe, and when two mediocre teams meet, the home team has the edge.

Actually a bit of a concern -- even if we right the ship, the Lakers scedule is so home heavy the rest of the way, + they already have 2 more wins than us. If they get into any sort of home rhythm catching them for #7 becomes VERY hard, and we are already 5 games back of Memphis as well -- very difficult barring a Grizzlies collapse. Which leaves us clinging to the #8 spot where as of right now its none other than the Spurs. Still 14 games left, but this last week has really put us in significant danger of that matchup. Best bet might be hoping Dallas sneaks in and takes that seed away from the Spurs.

We want the 8th spot... trust me

Trust me... we do not want to get the the 7th spot... with Amare back the suns could beat any team. I kno its 1 game and 1 game doenst prove his regained doinance. but I will assume that his youth will not allow him to "webber out" his team. I would rather play San antonio than PHX... and if Dallas wins the west, thats our best match up. Either way we are the underdog. Memphis isnt coming out of the 6th, they are locked. So lets pray we get the 8th... because 7th means absolute ousting lol

I wouldn't say the 6th is locked yet, but it is indeed nearing it.

I don't think Amare will get even near his 04-05 form, and they'll keep him around 20-25 MPG. He has an even better jumper than last year, and should still be able to block shots and get a bunch of boards though. Just not as good as he could if he was the 04-05 Amare. His prescence on the floor will help though, getting to the line, his size, defensive attention. Also there could be some chemistry problems, but I ultimately don't really think so.

Overall the Suns still play little defense, have little size (even w/ Amare, before, none) and are a bad rebounding team. Incredible offensively though.

So Ordinary That It's Truly Quite Extraordinary

I would say we want the 6th spot until its completely locked, but I disagree either way. Assuming we get past our first round opponent (which is a huge assumption at either 7 or 8) our second round matchup would be MUCH more favorable at 7.

Besides, unless we're going to give up and hope for a higher draft pick I want to finish on the most positive note possible, that means the highest spot in the standings we can get.
