so is it better for the Jazz or hornets to win on friday? DOes it really matter? I am thinking that it is better for the Jaz to win, eventhough they are closer. Don't we own the tie breaker with Utah? If not, maybe it is better for New Orleans to win.
Ok, think this is right:
Jazz and Hornets are in the same boat. Hornets have 40 losses, Jazz have only 39, but the Jazz lose the tiebreaker against us.
We have 38 losses.
So, with three games to go:
If Kings go 3-0. We are in the playoffs.
If Kings go 2-1 (39 losses). We are in playoffs (Hornets have 40 losses, Utah has 39 but loses tie breaker).
So, the ONLY way either team can catch us is if we go 1-2 or 0-3.
If we go 1-2 (40 losses) then Utah MUST win out, because they need to finish a game ahead of us to make the playoffs because they lose the tiebreaker. And New Orleans MUST win out, because they already have 40 losses and anymore puts them at 41. So if we go 1-2, in order to catch us EITHER New Orleans or Utah must go undefeated to catch us.
If we go 0-3, both teams can afford one loss (and since we are going 0-3 in that scenario, then New Orleans obviously would be getting at least one win against us).
So I think ANY win by us from here on out means that ANY loss by either Utah or New orleans eliminates them. Obviously if we beat New Orleans on Sunday, that is both a win for us and a loss for them and they are gone. If we win against Denver, than the loser of Utah/New Orleans is finished.
