From Sean Cunningham: Geoff Petrie says Kings may have something in the works in the coming days #nbakings Twitter

Oh boy. Go to the bank with this one!! "....may have something......in the coming days". Wow. How specific. Tied down and to the point. Can't stand it.

Gilbert Arenas here we come

Jason Jones ‏@mr_jasonjones
Petrie said adding more creativity to the backcourt is also a priority

Jason Jones ‏@mr_jasonjones
Petrie said Kings still looking at ways to solidify the small forward position, looking at free agency/trades too.

Petrie said team hopes to make a move in the next couple of days.

Jason Jones confirms we "HOPE" to make a move, kingsfans have hoped there are moves for tooooo long.

This is Petrie's way of making it look like we are trying to do something when they are sitting on their hands, from Anderson, to Thompson, to Scola, etc.

Let's see who else could we add besides adding J. Akognon? I have a feeling we are going to get selfish-4$$ Gilbert Arenas, because we need more shooters, right?

Jones also mentions Gay was watching the kings game, but I like all kings fans haven't had my hopes up in what eight years (and counting).

Summer league has shown Jimmer is up there with Morrison, you know crap, and noone seems to mention Robinson is summer leagues leading rebounder at 8.5, remember only 40 minutes.

Kings trade Jimmer and Reke for a cheeseburger....

IT/Akognon
Thorton/G. Arenas
Cheeseburger/TWill/Honeycutt
JT/Robinson
Cousins/Hayes

Damn we suck......

I like how he "may" have something in the works... Odds are what he will have in the works is a pork roast in his slow cooker...

Id be surprised if they make a deal, sounds like a ploy to satisfy fans and have us thinking theyre actually trying to make a deal, like the poster above said, while in reality petries and co. Just stand pat.

This reminds me of all the hype in 2006 (?) about us being close to signing a player, and we were all anxious about who it was. Then it was announced we signed the great John Salmons. I'm expecting a very minor move at most.

In Hindsight maybe Memphis would want an expiring. So substitute Garcia for Thorton.

Conley/IT
Thorton/Williams
Gay/Outlaw/Honeycutt
JT/Trob/Hayes
Cuz/JT/Whiteside

Scola going to the Suns, I wonder if we made a bid on him
i can see the bidding process now...

maloofs: we would like to bid $500,000
nba: sorry the minimum bid for scola is $3.3 million
maloofs: 3.3 million?!?!? no way, if we aren't going to pay that much for development fees for a brand new state of the art sports complex, we're not paying that for a player. is there any way we can bid for cash considerations?

id be cool with resigning T-Will and moving him to SF. and if that doesnt work just start Salmons. Or sign someone from Summer League. All the good players are gone anyways

Creativity in the backcourt could be code for Calderon piling onto Ailene's implication that we see IT as a change of pace 6th man type (as do I of course).

And glad to know we are "still looking" at ways to solidify the SF spot. And looking. And looking. And nodding off.

Wonder if Reke is getting dealt. Noticed he hasn't been at summer league and his contract is up after this year and as of now and the way free agency is playing out these days no chance do the Kings drop a max offer on him.

Kings basketball president Geoff Petrie commenting on free agency and improving Kings: "A lot of the hot money goes out early. There still players out there who are quality players and there’s still the possibility for trades are certainly still pretty active. We’ve had quite a few conversations on different things and I’m hopeful we’ll get some things done in the next few days."

Petrie on areas team needs to improve: "We can’t get it all with one player. We would like to do some prudent things to improve our roster and still give us some flexibility going forward. To still improve ourselves at small forward, improve our shooting and probably get a little more creativity in the backcourt if that was possible and continue to build with a young nucleus."

Just a shot in the dark but I think Petrie goes after Tayshaun Prince since either Gay, Iggy, & Granger are out of the question. This is somewhat a short term fix at SF by trading some of our scraps. Another possibility is bring Matt Barnes home as well. As far as the back court creativity I see him offering a 1 yr deal to Aaron Brooks or Agent Zero

#24
Something in the works for us generally means that we are after a once reasonably big name player on decline with a terrible contract. Probably someone like Prince or Villanueva!

Oh this creativity in the backcourt scares me because I know how much of a crush Petrie has on Aaron Brooks who is an unrestriced free agent.

Johnny Flynn

Flynn was trying out for some team the other day, and I know Petrie as been high on A. Brooks and Johnny Flynn; could be a possibility.

We are probably going to have to trade for SF......

Tyreke Evans for Devin Eubanks. I would hit Geoff Petrie with a bag full of bars of soap.
Devin Eubanks: And welcome back to the Newlydraft Game. We've got Tyreke Evans in the back, just selected by the Sacramento Kings with the #4 overall pick and I'm sitting here with team President of Basketball Operations Geoff Petrie. Hello, Geoff!

Geoff Petrie: Hello, Devin.

Devin Eubanks: Now Geoff, as you know, we have asked Tyreke several questions. We're now going to ask you the same questions, and you get five points for guessing Tyreke's answer to each question. Are you ready to begin

Geoff Petrie: Yes, Devin.

Devin Eubanks: OK, our first question was: "Now that you have left Memphis, what are you going to miss the most?" Geoff? What did Tyreke answer?

Geoff Petrie: Well, his family is close, and his brothers are going to be spending a lot of time with him in Sacramento, so I'll have to guess that Tyreke said "Coach Calipari".

Devin Eubanks: Let's check with Tyreke. Tyreke, we asked you: "Now that you have left Memphis, what are you going to miss the most?" Your answer?

Tyreke Evans: That'd be 20-foot jump shots, Devin.

Devin Eubanks: Oh...sorry Geoff! No points!
