Time for our annual free agent tracking thread. As usual, as people sign with various teams it will be noted above (team and terms if known). One place having the extra mods should help.

By the look of the list and with their financial situation, our beloved Kings should re-sign Wells, then look to improve via trades.

It's no longer TDOS...

It's PS!!

(Petrie season)

Which is where Petrie does most of his work... and where a lot more amount of players are, along with quality, and attainability.

Guys I like off that list:

Nazr Mohammed (MLE? Hopefully ;) )

Lorenzen Wright (More of a bottom option)

Kelvin Cato

Jackie Butler (R)

Jake Voskuhl (would be a decent option if Brad goes and can't get any shot-blockers)

Francisco Elson (R)

Jumaine Jones (If Bonzi's gone, to replace his experience, can't have Artest and all young guys. Whether that guy would be a 2nd or third man at 2/3)

Rasual Butler (see Jones)

Shandon Anderson (see Jones)

Bonzi Wells

Greg Buckner (P) (won't be exercised, see Jones)

Marcus Banks (mainly wishful thinking now with our situation and the Lakers being a better option and situation for him. At the most, part of the MLE)

Bobby Jackson (be good to have an exp. PG on the roster)

Tony Delk (maybe more of a bottom option, but see B-Jax)

Speedy Claxton (MLE-material, but likely to be locked up by the Hornets. Would be nice to get.)

If we need a backup for Bibby Jeez it's wide open, I'd be happy with any of the top 10 on that list (maybe not Payton). Marcus Banks would be great.

Joel Pryzbilla. He seems more a fit here. Very good shot blocker, young, can run, scores some and fills the middle. Let he and Miller share time.

OR.... is Petrie thinking of rotating the 4 and 5 spot among say, 4-5 guys: Miller, SAR, and .... and ..... hmm. Seems we're short there. Don't see KT in our plans for coming year.

i don't, either. but that doesn't mean he won't be here. we all said the same things last offseason, and we ended up with kenny thomas as our starting PF by the end of the season. so, if he's not in the kings plans, and if the kings can find suitable alternatives to KT, it probably means he'll be riding a whole lotta pine, and will likely do so in a disgruntled and disruptive manner. i don't see the kings being able to move his contract. it's certainly possible, but i wouldn't bank on it.

Uh, Joel/Brad at the 5 and 4? I don't know about that. Not sure we can get Joel for the MLE, Spurs/Pistons/Bulls will be all over him later on...

Well, one of KT/Brad are gonna be gone... for a complimentary front-court player and possibly another piece. Need to get some defense and athleticism in that group...

Brad/KT/SAR/Potapenko - Little defense, some athleticism, little rebounding, no shotblocking, one post-player. I'd be absolutely shocked if we have that same group next year. SAR has the most certainity to stay because of his team-attitude, contract, post-game.

Not yet. But teams like the Bucks and Wiz could use him as a mobile PF. Bucks need a PF period (Joe Smith is a back-up now), Wiz want a quick PF for their more up-tempo/small-ball direction.

KT fits that bill.

Just to make sure I am reading this right, the "will not be exercised" on a player option means they will not be going into free agency but if the team option is "picked up" it means they will be retained by their current team, is that correct?

yep -- actually not 100% accurate since there are two kinds of player option -- opt ins and opt oout. But seemed irrelevant for these purposes and I was just trying to express it clearly. But with the deadline yesterday I just deleted all those notations (and players) who for whatever reason did not become free agents (whether the team picked up its option, the players decided to stay etc.).

A couple of players who I'm not sure whether they had their options picked up, or exercised their oown options:

Marc Jackson (P) -- New Orleans
Maciej Lampe (T) (R) -- Houston
Ryan Bowen (P) -- Houston
Donta Smith (T) (R) -- Atlanta
Amir Johnson (T) (R) -- Detroit

Anybody know?

thanks for the list, Brick. This is a pretty weak group. Unfortunately, Bonzi is the top of SG class. I seriously hope it doesn't become a bidding war for him, he played solid for us during the playoffs, but I wonder if we'll get the same level of intensity post-contract. With Martin already in place, doesn't make sense to sign Bonzi for any more than 3-4yrs IMHO. Our money is better spent getting an interior presence, ie Pryzbilla.

Thanks - what threw me for a minute was you had Webber on there with a "!" next to it.

Tim Thomas may sign with the Clippers for 4yr/24million uniting him with his long lost Euro twin brother, Radmanovic.

It's not official but I saw it at hoopshype.com

Hmmm... now with Vlad probably going to the Lakers for the MLE... they can't sign Banks now (LLE? Nope). I'd love to see us go after him.

Yeah, a back-up PG. We currently don't have one, as it's not clear if Douby will be the back-up PG full-time. Along with Banks having some time in the league. All Petrie's said is Douby will "occasionally spell Bibby".

I've seen a whole lot of Banks since he came into the league and he's improved his game. I'm a big supporter of him. He isn't a bad playmaker, is strong, athletic, has a good jumper inside the arc, will be working on his 3P this summer. Good defender, quick as hell, damn good slasher. He's certainly one of the top options out there for a PG, FA or dealing for one who'd be available/attainable. Artest would love him, he and Douby would compliment Bibby greatly.

We can get a back-up C as well, with possibly the rest of the MLE (spent on whoever) or the LLE. Plenty of decent/solid guys for that around.
