Official Free Agency Tracking Thread

"The Bulls will also keep an eye on Cleveland power forward Drew Gooden, a restricted free agent. Gooden appears headed for a sign-and-trade scenario and the Cavs probably don’t want to take any big contracts in return, so a package of Chris Duhon and Michael Sweetney might have a slim chance of working."

“It’s a possibility we’re interested in,” Calvin Andrews, Gooden’s agent, said of the Bulls. “We haven’t talked too much about that happening. It’s up to the Cavs. If something would come up with the Bulls, it would interest us, definitely.”

"At this point, the Cavs aren't close to signing Drew Gooden. He is looking for a deal in the range of $60 million for six years, like free-agent Nene received from the Denver Nuggets. The Cavs probably are thinking about a deal in the $6 million-per-year range for five or six years. It's believed that only Charlotte has the salary-cap space to offer that kind of contract, and so far, the Bobcats don't seem that interested in Gooden."

"Gooden is a restricted free agent, meaning the Cavs can match any offer to keep him -- even if it takes them over the salary cap. The Cavs will not allow him to walk away. At worst, they will sign him and trade him. As of now, they say they prefer to keep him."

I bet the Bulls get him... just saw on the Bulls RGM board discussing him as a possibility. Paxson did indeed say he still is gonna make another move or two. He'd give them offense in the front-court, still wouldn't be good, but it would definitely add something. Along with rebounding and Ben/PJ/Tyrus to mask his lack of size, shotblocking, iffy defense.

Wouldn't be too surprised if they did a S/T with Duhon/Sweetney. As the Cavs did indeed want Duhon last season.

Indeed. ;)

I'm not really sure where to post this but anyway I'm listening to v103 radio and they have an interview with Al Harrington and he just said that the Hawks will not offer him an extension and he is going to either Indiana or GS, not sure which yet. They're just working out the money amount. His choice is Pacers, he wants to play with JO.

I'd like it if we got Eddie House back. We should be able to get him cheap and the 2 brothers can be together again. Bibby needs to get some more rest and House could come in for Bibby followed by Hart for more D and Price on occasion. If Bonzi leaves which looks very likely....Garcia and Douby should back up Martin as our starter and Garcia would also be backing up Artest, so he gets good playing time along the lines of SAR when he came in for the 4 & 5. While we want Douby to learn PG, why not him do what he does best and shoot and play the 2 guard and get his confidence up, but not throw him into being out backup PG right away.

I think we spent way to much time with the Bonzi deal and if he wanted to be here, he would have signed already. Let's see what remaining FAs we can get although the list is very small now. How about L. Wright & House with our MLE and then patch our other needs with a S&T of Bonzi and hopefully moving KT and our 3 expiring contract guys as sweetner? :D

Eddie House? No.

I don't think we go after House when we already got Douby and Price. House is just an undersized SG that is a spot-up/off-screen shooter, that can handle the ball a bit. He's not a good defender, not a play-maker, doesn't and isn't effective at creating his own shot.

Douby will be better than House, is a better prospect coming out of school than House, and is a more versatile player than House. Price should be as well with his defense, quickness, strength, improved offense. Douby has and is working on his PG-skills, and he looked nice in the summer league. Price, ditto. I think Price/Douby split time backing up Mike.

I think House ends up in Miami/Denver/New Jersey.

Bonzi leaving isn't anything right now, it's up in the air. I like getting Lorenzen Wright for us, though. Solid mobile two-way 4/5.

I agree Douby is comig along nicely, but it Bonzi is gone I'd like to see him back up KMart along with Garcia who can play 3 positions. I rather see Douby play to his strengths of SG and grow into the PG position rather than push him to quick into being a backup PG. I see Price having a breakout year this year and maybe using Hart very sparingly in spots where we need some D.

Who says were gonna push him into it? As you mentioned Price too. Right now it's likely to be Price/Douby splitting time backing up Mike, with possibly some stuff from Hart. Also, Price has already shown he can be a good defender with his quickness and length, and has added strength to his body. Douby is of course going to add weight as well, and should be an above-average/solid defender at least with his 6'9" wing-span, quickness, and supposedly likes to pester his man.

All in all, a small guard like House isn't needed.

Well the Centers left are smucks I wouldn't give any of the 1 dollar to be on my team. Now the PF list still has one player that is worthy of my dollar that is Ely. a couple out of our range, but most of them are smucks as well this is an aweful list of PF/C in FA this year know wonder Petrie signed Salmons and not one of those freaks

Yes, he's an FA. Still available. I was predicting we'd get him, but was wrong.

We can't get him though, unless he'd take the LLE.

Cato and Kandi aren't bad, they're both big, long, have some athleticism, block shots and rebound, and are presences in the paint. Not sure either would be had for the LLE though. Decent back-up Cs that would improve our interior defense.

A few updates to the "big board":

Aaron Williams signing with Clippers, two years $3.54 million
Sean Marks signed with Suns, one year ??
Mikki Moore isn't a free agent (although he was traded)
Trevor Ariza re-signed with Orlando, terms undisclosed
Darrell Armstrong signed with Indiana, two years $5.4 million
Fred Jones signed with Toronto, terms undisclosed
