NFL Talk

Matt Schaub is a frustrating QB to have on your fantasy team. He takes wayyyy too long before he makes a decision. You can't do that against defenses like the Giants

Well game played by the Vikings & Jets. Vikings came up just short, a Favre pick 6 sealed the deal. They protected him well though regardless all game long and finally were putting up some points. I look forward to seeing Sydney Rice back with the team soon with those weapons and they should be able to put up plenty of points just like last season. The Jets, well they have been playing phenomenal football ever since their loss to Baltimore. They are a legit threat on the ground & in the passing game now, and that's super scary to think about. I didn't watch the game so I can't make much further evaluation, but it looked like an entertaining game none the less.

The last 1.5 quarters was entertaining. The first 2.5 was like watching grass grow

I missed the final few minutes because I had two shows DVRing at 9pm. This is the second Jets game on MNF that has been delayed an hour this season. Can we stop putting this unprofessional organization on national tv now please? Thanks :)

I too can sit and watch a 10-7, 6-6, 3-3 game. It does sound boring, but I love that hard nose, tough, in your face defense and no team is letting up. It's fun to watch for sure if your a die hard NFL fan. Jets are going to be getting plenty more national coverage, they are Superbowl bound.

Well if you can sit for a 10-7 game, then how come you went to the gym? LOL

I think those types of games are boring.

That game was just boring. I don't know what it was, maybe I was expecting more action because of the hype, but the game just seemed sloppy and pretty uneventful. And the commercials were killing me. I DVRed the game, and I'll go back and watch the second half, but I couldn't take it last night.

Yeah. Wouldn't be surprised to see the Rams go after him now that Clayton is gone. Then again I wouldn't be surprised to see him sit out the whole year

I don't really see it happening either, but they've been more competitive than everyone thought they'd be, so ya never know. Since this week is the trade deadline, I'm gonna say that Jackson sits out the whole year too. Glad to see McNeill signed his extension though

Rams say they aren't interested so that could mean they are in the mix lol.

You got to figure if he doesn't get traded he'll sign his tender by week 10 so he gets paid. Maybe earlier due to his suspension issues.

Man, if he really does come back towards the end of the season I don't know how he thinks he will make up for all that time missed, he is better off sitting out the year or going to a new team now.

Virtually all hold outs sign by week 10 because it allows them to count this season as a year played under the terms of the CBA. This is extremely important when it comes to free agency status and restricted vs. unrestricted tags.

I don't really understand why teams would sign a player after they've sat out on them for 10 weeks. It seems to be doing the player a huge favor. If they wanted to do the player a favor, shouldn't they have payed the player in the first place?

I don't get it either when teams decide to sign the player so late in the season. They are better off letting him sit for the remainder of the year, not just come back when they reached the players agreement for a contract and what not. It's a knee in the groins for the organization and the player comes out looking like a genius, not right.

Hmm, I usually think the player comes out looking stupid as f in these cases. The team has already reduced his tender to either the minimum or slightly above, but just a fraction of what he was supposed to make either way. So he either signs for pennies on the dollar for half a season or he is in contract hell for another year. Keep in mind that if the Chargers pull the offer he becomes an unrestricted free agent and can leave for nothing.

Oh, so if he signs the tender then he'll be a restricted free agent after the season? That makes more sense. I guess it's still possible that they work something out like they did with McNeill but I highly doubt it.

I think he'll be unrestricted if he signs for this year. It's either Chargers pull the tender and he signs with whoever he wants now, they keep the tender and he signs whenever (but needs to sign by week 10 for a year's worth of credit) or he doesn't sign the tender/waits past week 10 and he starts next season with the same status he had this season. Assuming no major changes to the CBA and it seems like this next CBA is going to me more owner than player friendly as is the trend in all the leagues.

Caught out of the corner of my eye at dinner tonight that they had put Merriman on a special injured list that requires they release him at the end of the injury. I'm not sure why that even makes sense as opposed to an outright release? But guess Merriman is now on the market.

Merriman's been on the block for some time. I've never heard of this special injured list, but yeah that doesn't make any sense to me either. But he's really not the explosive player he once was. Shaun Philips and Co. seem to be doing fine without him. I wish AJ would stop being so stubborn and trade these players (if he insists on treating them so badly in the first place) for draft picks.

How low has Merriman fell off? He used to be a absolute beast, now...he is injured constantly and will get cut ASAP. Whatever team he does go to, I hope he can resurrect his career and stay healthy this time around and play like we are used to seeing him play.

I'm on record on the subject and in no mood to rehash the argument (though I was glad Mussburger said something besides scary steroids bad)... but regardless of my feelings I still take delight in making fun of Merriman for getting caught.
