NFL Talk

Not impressed by the Pats D at all against the Bills. Very alarming. Next weeks game against the fish is going to be huge.

Brees has come back down to earth a bit. I think the Bush injury hurts them more than everyone thought. He gives them alot of different looks, and Pierre Thomas just isnt the big play threat Bush was.

Cowboys finally won. I still dont believe in that team though. We'll see I guess.

Honestly, my superbowl favorite right now is the Steelers. Kind of flying under the radar. Looks like they have one of the better Running backs in the league this year with Mendenhall. There defense is very very good. Mike Williams looks like a good replacment for holmes. There 3-0 without a quaterback, thats impressive.

Jets are scaring me now too. What happened to Sanchez? he was aweful in the preseason and against the Ravens.. now all of a sudden he's looking really good. I dont know what i'll do if they win the superbowl. Maybe move to canada or something.

I was shocked by the Cowboys, not surprised by the Falcons or Chargers and I'm not ready to ride the Steelers train to the SB just yet - they need to face some real competition first.

Also more than a bit irritated that the Pats gave up 30pts to the Bills.

I picked the Cowboys. Don't believe in the Texans just yet. I'm sure they'll have a nice season, but I don't think they're contenders, and wouldn't be surprised to see them crumble midway through the season.

I'm not 100% sold on the Texans but they looked good enough to beat the Cowboys through the first two weeks, I guess shocked may have been a bit extreme though :)

Texans might not be contenders yet, but they do look like a team that might be finally getting ready to get over that hump. Yes, they got beat pretty good Sunday, but you can't play solid every week, I still think their a legit playoff team. As for the Chiefs, they are pretenders for sure, but it's a nice cinderella story for them, I am glad for them, young team can only go up. I don't understand what's up with the Chargers, first they lose to the Chiefs and then the Seahawks, can they not play on the road or something? Maybe they will step their game up in the end, usually what they are known for. I agree with who said Pitt needs to face a good opponent, next week they will in Baltimore, that should be a slug fest for sure.

First off, 17 penalties? WOW! I don't know what to say and will just leave it at that. Bears are playing some very good football, good for them. I guess a new offensive coordinator really helped Jay Cutler out, he seems to be more comfortable, though he is still a gun slinger. Entertaining game none the less, looking forward to Week 4 already. By the way, Devin Hester finally!

Week 4 picks:

NYJ vs BUF
CIN vs CLE
BAL vs PIT
DEN vs TEN
DET vs GB
SF vs ATL
CAR vs NO
SEA vs STL
IND vs JAC
HOU vs OAK
WAS vs PHI
ARI vs SD
CHI vs NYG
NE vs MIA

In bold are my winners, my upset win for the week goes to Cleveland over Cincinnati. I also have the Giants breaking the Bears 3-0 streak & Philly beating Washington in Donovan's return.

That wraps it up for football Sunday. Bears just looked awful all game long, I don't understand how they struggled that badly, oh wait...10 sacks! You hate to see Cutler go down with a concussion, hope all is well and he will be able to return hopefully next week. The Lions gave the Packers a run for their money but just came up a bit short, they have weapons for sure, it's a shame Matt Stafford isn't there, they could be at 2-2 at the worst. What a win by Baltimore, you think it was game over when they went for it on 4th & Goal, but they stop Pit and march right down the field to win it, very impressive. Interesting game by Was/Philly, Vick gets hurt first quarter and Philly falls apart after that pretty much. Kolb does not look all that really, no wonder he lost his starting QB spot, I guess he will get it back next week because it seems Vick may not be able to go, we will see. The Texans didn't let down against Oakland and won in a hostile environment by pounding the football down the Raiders' throat. Jacksonville beating Indy is not all that surprising, they always play them tough, what a 59 yard FG! Atlanta improves to 3-1 and San Fran just looks terrible. The Saints offense is really struggling to put up points in the red zone this season, who would of thought that? We will see if they will manage without Reggie & Pierre. That's about all I have to say really for this week's games, there weren't too many "flashy" games out there, one game left tomorrow, let's hope it's a good one.

I have basically only one thing to say after a quarter of NFL regular season is in the books: Kansas City Chiefs are undefeated! Kansas City Chiefs are ONLY undefeated team in the NFL at 3-0, having a bye in week four. Next game for KC is in Indy and I see no reason they don't stay undefeated - but I kinda doubt it.

Meanwhile, here's my top 5 power teams at the moment: 1. Houston 2. Baltimore 3. Green Bay 4. Pittsburgh 5. Undecided. I guess a tie between NY Jets, Miami and New England (a little more clear after MNF game in Miami). No Indy, no KC, no Dallas, no Atlanta or San Diego - at the moment they all look like a bunch of title pretenders stacked up against the top 4 or 5.

You gotta hand it to the Chiefs, but I am sure they will come down to earth soon enough. Atlanta is legit and so are the Jets. The Jets are finally realizing their offensive potential and they have been putting up points the last three weeks. Atlanta is going to make some noise too and I see them making the playoffs as a possible wildcard team. Pittsburgh is only gonna get better with Big Ben returning. Miami & New England out of the two I see Miami doing more things, but then again you can never count out Tom Brady.

It doesn't help the chiefs cause to stay undefeated this upcoming week, especially when they play the colts...peyton manning is scary to go up against just on a normal week but he and the colts are even scarier when they're coming off a loss, still gonna be in front of my tv cheering the chiefs on though!!!!!!!

Yeah Chiefs have the Colts and the Texans right the following week so its a good test. As for Bradford, he has had his impressive moments for sure. I am disappointed that Matt Stafford is out for Detroit, they can put up some points with him playing QB, and I feel they could of been a sleeper team possibly, not to go to the playoffs or anything but just come out of the blue and win some games.

Yeah well, if the defense can't make something happen and get some stops, the Chiefs have a very good chance to pull off a win. I don't see the Colts losing this game at home -- they haven't lost back to back games since 2007 -- but this would be the right time. Just lost our second safety for the year, we've got an injury report as long as ... well, it's really long. And the Chiefs are coming off their bye. Weis and Crennel know Manning as well as anyone else does, and Crennel, though he couldn't actually beat the Colts in Cleveland, always was able to slow them down. I'm thinking this is gonna be a good game.

I don't see the Chiefs winning, I don't think they are for real just yet. And that's not some kind of reverse jinx BS because they are playing the Colts.

I too have been disappointed by Matt Stafford's injury woes. I can't help but feel that the Lions deserve something good to come their way after the suck they have endured since Barry Sanders's spontaneous retirement.

Except for the fact that either the Giants or Bears had to win this week I was quite pleased with this week's results, even that was saved by Cutler getting slapped silly all game long (though I wish him a speedy recovery, concussions are no joke).

What a pathetic performance by the Miami Dolphins, they just got beat over and over on special teams, hell...Brady only threw one touchdown was it? I was expecting them to show up better than they did, I even had them winning. Goes to show you never count out those Patriots, the game was good until halftime atleast.

Thanks for the memories Randy. Despite the ending, that one season was a thrill ride I'll never forget and for a player I never liked to come in and be such a class act for that one season and be such a huge part of it, I'll always be grateful and look past your other BS. But this is a move I think may have been overdue.

My poor wife has Tom Brady and Adrian Peterson on her fantasy team.

eta: Probably nothing more than speculation, but could this be setting up a deal for a pick or Mankins to SD for Vincent Jackson?

What's wrong with your poor wife having Brady and Peterson? Are you being sarcastic?
I also have Tom Brady on my fantasy team. My man Brady will do fine without Moss. They have won 3 superbowls without him.

As far as Peterson goes, having Moss just makes the Vikings a lot better especially with Sidney Rice out.

From a purely fantasy POV, Peterson has suffered from Favre's hero complex and having Moss on the team will only result in more gunning. Brady will be fine but without a deep threat drawing double teams his numbers will dip just a bit. Considering how little she knows about football and that those are her top two guys even a modest dip will pretty much insure trouble for her every week.

Hmmmm.....I don't think Peterson has suffered at all. Before the bye, Peterson had 160 yards and 2 td's and in the 2nd week he had 145 yards and 1 td. Too bad your wife isn't in my league otherwise I would have asked if she wanted to trade. :p

If I remember right the first week he failed to break 100 while Favre threw it all over the field and all the talk about this trade is how now Favre can gun again. I may be wrong but I just supect with the egos of those two that it will hurt AP who should be the focal point of that offense.

Yea, Peterson only went for 87 yards in the 1st week, however, he's been doing really good the last 2 weeks before the bye.

I really hope there is no ego problems. Hopefully, the Vikings know that they just got better....Favre, Moss, Peterson, Harvin, Berrian and Rice (whenever he comes back). However, Berrian hasn't done much...I should know, he's on my fantasy team. <sigh>

I like the move for Minnesota. They get Randy Moss until Sidney Rice is ready to come back, then they should be back to scoring more points like they were last season. IF, Favre can stop throwing those picks, but it's Favre...so we know that most likely is not going to happen. I just want to see the Vikes in the playoffs again, I really like their team overall and wish nothing the best for them. As for New England, it's not that big of a loss really, they have a lot of depth at receiver and have two stud TE's. They will draft i'm sure another stud WR in the 2011 draft.

I do hope the Pats get another deep threat, be it a move for V Jax or next draft, but I hope they put the focus on the TEs and a possession offense. It will really help their young defense out a bit.

Ugh knowing AJ he'll probably give them V-Jax for a 6th rounder or something. I do want V-Jax to get traded, but hopefully not to the Patriots. Maybe the Seahawks will try again now that Lynch is on board

Oh, and I like the move for both teams. Minny obviously was in desperate need of some WR help (and I actually don't see it hurting AP too much), and I watched a breakdown of the trade on NFL.com and they said the Pats now have 2 picks in each of the first 4 rounds of next years draft? They're definitely in the driver's seat there.
