Looking back: Kings/Bulls trade

anyone else feel that we would be better off with Salmons 2 year contract(IMO Salmons>>>>Noc) and Brad Millers expiring right now than Nocioni?

I mean we had to buy out Gooden and got 3-4 mill in expirings...

I also feel that we could of EASILY gotten an expiring for Salmons straight up last season the way he had been playing

We would have over 15 mill in exp's with KT and Brad Miller

just making talk here, don't start the "its been done with blah blah blah"

We don't know how much positive locker room influence Noc might have... maybe helped some of those other guys grow a pair and play tougher D.

I like Noc.

Salmons was a ballhog and Miller ... well I can't start talking about him without turning abusive... suffice to say I would't go out of my way to have either of those guys on my court or in my locker room

Salmons was the best player in the deal, but as Francisco said, he's a ballhog. He plays like he's by FAR the best player in the deal, and he's not. Miller...well I don't wanna start on Miller either. I'm not the biggest fan of Noc, but he seems like a positive guy, and he hustles every second he's on the court. The same can't be said about Salmons and Miller

Nope, no way at all. If you look back, Miller's attitude was suckitude at the highest level and there's no way Salmons would be blending in with this new group of kids.

Um, no. Petrie made pretty much the only real deal he could, the only deal that would move both Miller and Salmons, which was something pretty much every Kings fan on the planet was praying for him to do.

Personally, I would have preferred we held on to Miller and Salmons...

Can you imagine the type of deal we could get with both Miller and K9's expiring contracts right now?

this is the dagger to why we should have kept them... but something to remember is that when that trade happened it wasn't just a team roster thing it was the Maloofs trying to stay afloat, get away from the tax, and save money.... it was a dark climate with the economy.... so the money panic was a big part of it...

now salmons and millers attitudes were absolutely terrible and that too sorta played a part...

but most importantly... if we still had them salmons (not so much miller) would be taking playing time from so many better young players...

but you make a great point... those trade chips would have been huge right now.

Another thing, and it kills me to say this but...
I would rather have Miller over Hawes out there right now. (Yeah, Hawes has sucked that much) Definitely not in the long term but just this first half of the season. We still would get zero defense and little to no rebounds from the 5 spot still but at least we would have one of the best passing big men setting up the others.

Not remotely. That trade was good riddance, and its not coincidence that Chicago now has the same ick we did last year. Noc is not really relevant. The lack of Salmons and Brad are what's relevant. GIANT step forward, and if it had not been taken eveyrthing we have now would not have been possible. No way we form up thes young group wiht this chemsitry with those guys around. Now way the kids get minutes etiher. No Kings fan shoudl for evn an instant regret that trade. It set us free, and the relative "talents" of the players involved is completely irrelevant.

This is sort of like wanting to have your cake and eat it too. I was thrilled when we traded Miller and Salmons. Miller was simply walking through the motions. They were both taking valuable playing time away from the young players. The deal needed to be done. Things have turned out just fine. The young players are getting playing time, and I'm not screaming at Miller on my TV to get his big butt in gear.
