Lets "HELP" Tyreke get ROY!!!!!

Hopefully none of this matters. My only point is that the Kings got out-PR'ed by the Warriors, and that is bigger than just the ROY award for this season. It could affect free agent acquisitions, it could affect stadium and development negotiations. Whether it actually does or not, maybe I'm making too much out of it. But I'll tell you what, I don't feel all gung-ho about the Kings PR efforts as of right now.

What I said is that it shouldn't come down to that, I stand by what I said. I'm talking about some people saying stuff like GS beat us at the game, and I'm saying there should be no "game" between the GS Warriors PR staff and ours. It's great when the PR staff helps hype the community for Reke and other players (what the Kings staff seems to be doing), but calling up voters is just taking it a bit too far in my book for an award. It's just silly that people have come to take an award so seriously. Just think of it this way, you don't see referees letting fans call them up and tell them what they think of a play.
This is very true. It is kinda juvenile for them to do this campaign, calling up the voters and pleading with them to change their minds. Thats tampering in legal terms.

According to carmichaeldave... the leak is Tyreke will get the award...

BUT.... yes I totally agree it really shouldn't come down to this or be that close of a race. Apparently they (the warriors) did this before with the Most Improved Player award couple years ago and Monta Ellis ended up willing. I think it was one of the closests voting ever with Ellis beating Kevin Martin by 2 pts?

When you think of that in a close race like that one where both were deserving, their PR most likely came through if they got 1 vote changed.

Another "exit poll" and some more on team's "campaigns"

t was an interesting campaign season in the NBA.

It's almost like election day. Teams did some crazy promoting this year with voters, who had to have their ballots into the NBA office by April 15.

Golden State's public-relations staff took it upon themselves to call all the voters to promote guard Stephen Curry for Rookie of the Year.

The Kings took it a step further. They sent out an autographed Tyreke Evans bobblehead doll.

The Timberwolves thought guard Corey Brewer was a worthy candidate for Most Improved Player. So they sent voters some Brewer's Blend Premium Coffee. After grinding up the coffee beans, it's quite good.

The Utah Jazz sent out a poster and record album promoting Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer for the All-NBA team.

Most of the teams sent out e-mails to voters to pump up their players.

I participate in a conference call from around the league that features writers in almost every NBA city. Often times, how they vote will mirror how the actual voting process will turn out.

The following is my votes and how 16 other writers from around the NBA voted:

Rookie of the Year

Finnan: 1. Evans; 2. Curry; 3. Brandon Jennings, Milwaukee.

Conference call: 1. Evans 62 (5-3-1); 2. Curry 54; 3. Jennings 26.
