Kings want Yi and Brooks?

It is true that Atlanta is receiving heavy pressure from a faction of their ownership group to draft Yi Jianlian. Now that that’s been leaked, though, it’s hard to actually see that happening. The team that has been considering him the most in the lottery is Boston, followed by Sacramento. The Kings could jump into the late first or early second tonight to try and nab Aaron Brooks, who they are big fans of. -draftexpress.com-

I did some research on Brooks and I really like the guy. He was clutch for Oregon all season long, is lightning quick and a great defender. As for Yi, he probably won't be there at 10, but Brooks could definitely be our PG of the future, reminds me of Tony Parker a little bit, but he CAN shoot the ball=] here's a clip of him against UCLA, just cut and paste on search engine...http://youtube.com/watch?v=_uFzMOFml9I

he's projected to be a PG, and you could say the same for Bobby Jackson, one of the most beloved Kings of all time...This guy's a winner, and quite frankly, the Kings could use a few of those on the roster. That's also why I wouldn't mind at all if the Kings got Noah, cause he and Brooks have the competitor's spirit that doesn't show up on the stat sheet, but wins close games.

I agree

His quickness is something the Kings really need, especially at the PG position. I really am tired of seeing PG after PG just drive past Bibby as if they were going through a drive thru and being offered free food. I didnt really see any passes from Brooks though, i hope he isn't just a scoring PG. Dont really know much about him.

He's 5-11 of course he's going to be listed as a PG, but the guy is not a PG.

Does that mean we could play LOTS of small ball with Bibby, Brooks, Douby, Martin, Garcia, Price and Salmons in the rotation?

Yeah, I just can't see how with Douby already on the roster and Price looking like he'll be re-signed that we'd add another undersized shooting guard.

He's projected to be a PG just basically because his size precludes any other spot.

And part of Bobby's appeal is that he was very very strong and could muscle guys at OG and so play the combo guard role. At 5'11" 160lbs Brooks obviously can't.

Nonetheless, so long as we get the first pick right, take a big, then if Geoff wants to throw a later pick away on his 1745th scoring guard, let him indulge (not that I wouldn't rather see it wasted on a longshot big).

If Geoff really wants to get back into the late first and take a chance on someone, I'd try Sean Williams. He's probably a bigger risk though

why not take that big kid kyrylo? detroit wanted the guy pretty bad enough to promise him a 2nd rd guarantee. dumars has a pretty good track record of picking gems in the 2nd round.

As an alumnus of Cal, I haaaaaaated/looooooved Brooks, as he killed us year after year. I'd be hard pressed to call him a good defender, though. He's quick, but soooo small and not all that strong. He's definitely clutch, though. A bit of a streaky shooter, but when he's on, he's like Salim Stoudamire. If we picked up a 2nd round pick and took him, I'd be happy with that.
