Kings Vs. Thunder game thread

Strategic move or not, I don't want Kevin on the bench the final 15min of a game.

Then my advice to you would be to be prepared for more disappointment. We'll simply have to agree to disagree because, as odd as it may seem to people who can remember when VF21 was ALWAYS about cheering for the team and the win, I am not at all disappointed with how tonight's game played out. And I am one of the original Kevin Martin fans from back when very few people could even pick him out on the bench...

Look at it this way, if it helps... Kevin is still nursing an ankle that is less than 100%. By not exposing him to potential injury in the final quarter of meaningless games, we could actually be doing him, the team and us (the fans) a favor. How many times have you seen players get injured for no reason at all???

Regardless, I fully understand your frustration but it's not a bad thing for us to conserve our best player at this point in the season.

That's funny. I was just about to post how terrible she is. At first I thought she was bad because she was nervous or something. Season almost over, still bad.

This is her second season with the Kings. She has actually outlasted Rupe the Hoop, I think...

Feel dirty all you like, but I'm not at all disappointed. Obvious tanking? Apparently you haven't been paying attention to what Golden State and some of the other teams have done. We didn't obviously tank.

Sorry, but you can't have it both ways. You really want the Kings to get some meaningless wins in March and April? FOR WHAT PURPOSE?????

I guess I'm just confused...

I think your taking what im saying the wrong way.

I completely understand the spot were in. I should have said that I secretly know its was has to be done, but knowing that doesnt make me feel less 'dirty'. Its not a huge deal, other teams do it .. but honestly, how often does that work out? (The worst team in the league never gets the first pick ... but thats not really the point here..) Im fine with 'resting' Martin completely, but pulling him mid game is suspicious .. I just dont want the 'tank' tag on my team.

Its obviously not something to be proud of, and thats really all im saying.

Thank you for taking the time to clarify. I better understand where you're coming from. I just cannot get too upset because if it comes down to tags, I'd rather the Kings have the "tank" tag for the next few weeks than "suck" for the next 5 years...or more. ;)

Has to be done....crucial game to lose.

Very understandable about not wanting the tank label though, but at least we arnt being TOO disgusting about it. We just naturally suck.

Remember Miami's tank job last season? Now that was pathetic. Riley sits out almost his entire starting 5, and then has the gall to stop coaching so that he could SCOUT college prospects. Thats tanking like a champ.

The inevitable Lebron James "I saw what D. Wade did last night and I am not going to let my team lose to the Clippers" scoring surge is upon us. I knew it was coming but I hoped someone on the Clipps would have enough pride to whether the storm. (I'm looking at you Eric Gordon. Where's that three point touch when we need it?)

Good lord, Mo Wiliams 3-16 for the game 1-7 for the game from 3pt land...hits the game winning three for the Cavs.

I knew there was no God.

Or at least if there is one, he hates us.

The Clipps come out of a timeout with 6 seconds left, down by two points in a game they've been leading the whole way until a monumental fourth quarter collapse. Result? Z-Bo for three! Now I know they're tanking.

The Clippers - making an art form out of tanking for the edification of their fan. And not that it will make much difference. Donald Sterling's brilliance could take a draft pick of Lebron James' ilk and turn him into Rickey Minard before the end of his rookie year.

kmart looked pissed!

Actually, no he didn't. I kept a pretty close watch for just that...and, if anything, he simply looked a bit bemused by the whole scenario. He wasn't in trouble; he knew he wasn't in trouble. I'm pretty sure he knew why he was sitting down...

Noc with the wide open corner shot says to himself "FOR THE LOTTO!!"

You reminded me of something...

Remember the first game when Noicioni called out "HIGH PICK!" Now we know what he was REALLY referring to...

:p

I'll be here all week. Tell your friends.

YES! Agreed! With teams like the Clippers, who KNOWS how many wins will cost us a top 3 pick...I mean, our season has been terrible but...wow. The CLIPPERS! How can you be so bad with so much talent?

People. This is the Clippers. Why is anybody surprised that they blew an enormous lead. Again, this is the Clippers. The only sure thing in life is that the Clippers will suck. You can cheat on taxes, cryogenically freeze yourself to prevent death, but the Clippers will still suck.

Well, at the very least that ties the Lakers and Clippers for best record in the league. The Lakers are on their way for a back to back with Houston and San Antonio, and Odom is suspended for the game with Houston.

But yeah, if that were anyone else but Z-Bo taking that shot I'd say it was a tank-job. But it's Zach Randolph...

Yahoo sports list him as injured sometime after the game. Tweaked his ankle and is day to day.

I'm guessing Yahoo got it from a blog somewhere - maybe the Bee - but the early edition of the Sports section, which is what I get up here, had a short article by Amick that included:

Martin went to the bench with 2:55 left in the third quarter and did not return. The decision was not health-related; the team said he was not hurt after he had 12 points in the first three-quarters.
