Where's the apology?We have a game tonight?
Do the players (and coaches) know that we have a game tonight?
The best that we can do here is to hope that they do know.
Love Monk's optimism but the injury looked very bad and Domas nearly fell trying to put weight on that ankle. They should have wheeled him off. We're likely looking at weeks off. Let him take all the the time he needs to rest up and recover.
I thought, would it be possible for the Kings to get another team to sign and then trade Lavia back to us for one of our players?
Solomon Hill with the Pacers? I think he got a good deal with the Pelicans but never lived up to itMaybe. He's a bit of a really weird scenario; basically 2 first lost years with injuries, MEM declines the option prior to this year because of that... and yet he proves he's actually an NBA player this year and looks like he'll have long-term staying power. I can't really remember a situation like his where the rookie who gets the their contract declined actually ends up being really good that same season.
I'd be pretty surprised if he got a big deal this off-season. Something like what Highsmith/Caleb Martin got, somewhere between 5-9 mil/season seems like a reasonable projection for what he'd get. And while I REALLY like what he brings, we're still talking about a guy with:
4.9 PPG
2.9 RPG
1.3 APG
49% TS
in a Kings uni. He's had some huge spike games, but he's also had quite a few where he was just straight invisible out there.
No apologies needed, as my questions were very valid considering the previous handful of games.Where's the apology?
What happened was...You started to cook dinner when we were up by 20, not taking into consideration that we're, well, the Kings...Started cooking dinner when we were up 20, wtf happened?!!?![]()

Agree with everything you said... but it's Domas, so he'll probably slap some duct tape around it, chew a few nails for iron, and hobble back out on the floor some play-in time.Love Monk's optimism but the injury looked very bad and Domas nearly fell trying to put weight on that ankle. Guy’s an Indianan who wound up with the Kings. Going off of history (Big Brad Miller/Jerry Reynolds), he’s probably going to be here until he’s old, chubby, and randomly lighting the beam with young guys after the game.Remember when we were going to lose Harry Giles?
LaRavia is better. Some team could try to steal him with the type of deal we gave Monk after he had a halfway decent year with the Lakers, but since we will have Bird rights and there's a good chance Deebo is gone after next year, we can offer him a starting job when he signs that big deal after betting on himself.
Maybe he likes it in Sac? I do know he attended the Jesuit game in the state final over the weekend.
Carter/LaRavia and Keegan had a elite game on D.
I would really love it if part of our offseason is spent “retooling” our identity into a scrappy defensive minded squad. Keegan, Laravia, Ellis, Carter….thats a damn good foundation for a defense. Somehow need to turn Deebo, Lavine or Monk into an athletic shot blocker. I have a feeling our best move will look like we are taking a downgrade in talent but will potentially significantly improve the team. unfortunately, I’m concerned that path might not be flashy enough for Vivek or that Monte will be able to accept the downgrade in offense.

Based on the eye test and the advanced stats our starting lineup has one very good defender (Keegan), three poor to awful defenders (Malik, Zach, and DeMar) and one mediocre defender (Sabonis). Combine that with the fact that all four other than Keegan also need to have the ball to be effective on offense and there are two very clear issues.
I'd love to see a lineup of Carter, Ellis, LaRavia, Murray, and Sabonis for stretches, but while they'd be disruptive on defense, they'd lack ball handling or clear ways to score.
So the logical thing to do is what most of us have asked for - start two of those four scrappy defenders and give significant minutes to the other two.
Monk
Ellis
DeRozan
Murray
Sabonis
would give better balance. Give Carter and LaRavia lots of bench minutes with LaVine (and Lyles/Valaciunis) and add a few more complimentary pieces this off-season.
The current starting five is only going to be successful when they are having a very good night offensively and struggle when they aren't, because they don't have defense to lean back on. I've been a Monte defender, but the Fox trade has made this team even more unbalanced and it needs to be fixed.
But you just stated the solution...with current in team options. So is that a Monte problem or how we're choosing to use the pieces on the roster?
Fair.
But I think the dynamics of the current NBA would make it hard for any coach, let alone an interim HC with a team struggling to keep pace in the play-in area of the standings to bench an established veteran making a large salary for a former two way player on a budget deal, a rookie, or a guy picked off the scrap heap after his former team declined his option.
I definitely think the Kings would be a better team with Ellis starting, but realistically we aren't likely to see LaVine or DeRozan coming off the bench.
