[Game] [VSL Game 2] Kings vs. Bulls, 7/12/2015 5pm Pacific 8pm Eastern (NBATV)

I’m wondering where are the fans that were quick to be critical of Devin Carter during and after the first SL game. Did his 2nd game disappoint you all too?

His performance in this game is precisely why you need to learn not to overreact. This one game doesn’t prove him to be a star and the last game doesn’t prove him to be a wasted draft pick.

FWIW, Tristan da Silva hasn’t exactly proved himself the better draft pick just yet either.

Be patient and allow these kids to develop.

Actually, he was at his best when he played his natural role.

Wasn't there talk that he'd only play a few games anyways, as is typical of a sophomore player?

I wouldn't be against it, not because I'd like to preserve his trade value or whatever, but I think it'll be more valuable to the franchise to see Nique as defacto PG for the remaining games.

Good overall game.
Not too sloppy for a SL game. Good passing and good unselfish team play.

Bulls were without Matas (lotto pick last year) and lost lotto pick this year due to leg injury during game.

Nique can ball. Has a good handle, makes right play, active, rebounds well, makes good pass, and can hit 3. He's ready for mins at the next level.

Max doean't seem ready for mins at the next level. There are too many things to address. Offensively, he looks great, sets screens, rolls hard, picks spots, good fundamentals, has hook with left or right, has range, has a 2-man game, and makes good passes. Defensively he's a mess. He doesn't rebound or defend well enough to be a center. Reaches as opposed to putting himself between player and rim. Timing, instinct, positioning, footwork all need major work.

No comments on Devin Carter? You sure were quick to point out that he was 2/11 shooting and “not exactly showcasing” the last game.
How come you weren’t equally as quick and eager to point out how much he showcased in this game with 10/13 FG and 5/7 from three?

DC was arguably the player of the game for the KINGS, yet nary a mention about his performance from you. I’m just wondering why that is.

Nique has been the revelation in the game. He let the game come to him. Didn't push unless needed. Played smooth like a vet. Good BBIQ and processing speed was evident. All-round talent.

Max continues to show good vision with his passing and positioning. Decisive in his moves once he gets position. That hook shot looks sweet. Needs to bulk up a bit to improve strength without losing his good mobility. Defense is work in progress but he's paying attention and coordinating with the team.

Carter showed he can score when he's aggressive. The arc of his shot looks better. Doesn't look like a natural playmaker other than basic reads. 3 and D is going to be his bread and butter.

1. Carter is a known commodity with NBA mins.
2. Obviously he had a great game; anyone watching would know that.
3. This is why you are on ignore. Pls do the same to me and move on.

He's not a typical sophomore player though, he spent most of his rookie year hurt.

These are all good reps to put on film and get him experience. Try some new things ,work on developing your primary ball handler skill set. Gain some confidence heading into offseason work/training camp

Clifford was a dominant player in the Mountain West. Last game he seemed lost. It sounds like he has made some quick adjustments to the NBA and played much better this time around. The guy has talent.

You’ve confirmed that you are a consistent over-reactor.

Can you give the kid any props when he plays well, or are you only ever going to point out his flaws?
My point was he's definitely better suited and excels as the shooting guard, not point guard.
You're both kind of right here, Carter is not a pure PG and I don't think putting him in the 1 spot with Zach and DDR is going to produce much.

But if he was paired in the back court with Monk they can certainly split these duties. And if you ran Carter-Keon-Nique the three of them could probably share these duties AND give pure hell on the defensive side which might allow you to run Domas and Maxime for a stretch. It should at least give Domas some relief if/when Keegan is still getting his minutes at the 4. And any two of those guys with Monk or Zach seems much better than DDR sharing time with either of those guys let alone all three on the court at the same time.

Of course that is probably a year or two into our future which is why we brought Schröder in for now. But I see the vision should we keep both Ellis and Carter.

My bigger concern with Devin and his "out of control" playstyle is injury, not turnover risk. I'm a lot more worried about Devin hurting himself in summer league where he is crashing to the floor 3-4 times per game than I would be if we had won the lotto and drafted Cooper and the Mavs seem to be.
